Bought my 1st Honda 2000 generator on June 2001 Have over 11,000hrs on it. Pull rope replaced once and two spark plugs. Oil change every 100 hrs and still runs great. I do have a second Honda 2000 so I can parallel them together for A/C in my 5th wheel trailer.
Bought my first Harbor Freight Predator generator in 2015. It has 9 hours on it. I ran it for an hour to break it in and run it for 1 hour a year, changing the oil at the end of each run. It's for emergency power outages which we seemed to have have had a lot before I bought it, but none since. It'll get another hour in June 2024. In fact, I've had to replace the runtime meter once as it's battery operated.

I have two Honda generators. One is at least 15 years old. Yes it was expensive. It cost almost $1100 back then. But It’s quiet and sips gas, it will run 6-8 hours on 1.1 gallons of gas. We power a travel trailer with it and use the trailer in temperatures as cold as teens or 20’s during hunting season. When gas soared over $4 a gallon that really saved us money.
Surprisingly🤯 Soundproof Guide noticed our Aceup Energy generator. Thank you for your genuine evaluation. We will continue to improve our products and provide customers with better products☺
If you ran the battery down on your car and you had the Aceup with you you'd probably figure out what that 12V outlet was for provided you had the battery charging attachment.
I bought my Honda 3000 watt generator in 2006. I have used it from 10,600’ elevation to literally sea level. I replace 2 batteries and change the oil */- every 100 hours. I am glad I spent the money. For my house, I have a Generac 20kw standby with ATS and 300 gallon propane tank. It is the best.
I got a 10k/8k Firman for $1k. Would never consider the Honda at the prices they sell. Firman is a solid machine and they publish instructions for switching from field use to house connection ground config. Absolutely no complaints.
Pro tip" it's amazing what a little extra distance can do for noise. If you are camping, just use a slightly longer power cord and place the unit on the other side of your car.
A properly built foam box or a box with noise canceling materials inside can make a very big difference as well. Of course you need to make sure there are holes so the unit can breath and heat can escape. I've seen a basic foam box with one side missing make a huge difference (that pink insulation material), you could barely hear it at all- just face the missing side of the box away from wherever you are going to be- that gives it lots of breathing room and all the sound is directed away from you, and in hot and/or sunny places it gets a bit of shade/protection from elements. You could always add a low powered fan to it too or maybe a box fan (pretty sure they're very low power)
I read alot of complaints about genny noise well that all boils down to the type of exgaust muffler used a simple switch out to a higher quality muffler will reduce the noise levels, And yes I do know what im talking about as i am a small engine marine mechanic for last 30 yrs and this is a very common problem ! And honestly if your power is out and you dont yave hydro and your neighbour helps supply some power to your house to help you out whuch is one thing i do when the situation arises from time to time There is never a complaint or crying because the exhaust is a little loud because the muffler has to be changed out after running so long !
Honda is undoubtedly excellent, but it is too expensive. I would be more willing to purchase Aceup Energy, as it is more cost-effective and affordable compared to Honda.
I did the same thing in 2022 and the one I found was $225. Looked very similar but it was light blue in color and had different controls. Luckily for me I thoroughly examined it before actually trying to start it. I added a little fuel and started smelling it really bad immediately afterwards. I had to completely tear it down to access the fuel tank. What I found was a bad O-ring on the fuel outlet that was dripping fuel directly onto the front panel's electronics. I fixed it with a new O-ring easy enough, but if I had started it and walked away (like you would with any generator) it would have at least destroyed itself and possibly burned my house down too.
Living in a state where non-ethanol gas is not available at the pump, my first questions for any off brand or cheap generator: Are spare carburetors available? How Much are they? and How easily are they changed? One thing about Honda is that their parts are ubiquitous. Ont eh other hand, I do like that this unit does not seemed to be hindered by the ticking clock of a non-user replaceable CO sensor.
More often than not these generators are clones of some generator or another. I wouldn't be surprised if a honda carb fit this generator, but it may need rejetted.
Thanks so much for sharing this! I don’t know a lot about generators, but I feel like you explained the pros and cons in a way that even a dummy like me can understand!
The Honda is running at a lower RPM in all the tests you did.. that would probably indicate lower power output from the engine... Should also do a a max output load test to see if it will even do the rated amount. Harbor Freight often has deals on similar generators.. You can get a warranty and a local place that will exchange it if it breaks in that warranty time. For the slight premium in price there I would probably do that. I have a couple HF gens.. one tailgate model.. a little 2 stroke one.. its over 10 years old.. still runs great. I added a small fuel filter and changed the fuel line to some better stuff when I got it. The second is a 2400 Watt Inverter gen... also works great. One feature that seems to be missing on these now.. is a separate fuel shut off.. If you are not using them regularly.. being able to drain the carb of fuel by running it dry will vastly lengthen its life before a cleaning is needed.. especially with ethanol fuel.
Any 12 V device! 12 V devices are usually found in RV's and campers, like coffee makers, lights, and tools. Don't forget about running your Ham Radio rig from 12 V.
There are alternatives between the AceUp and the Honda also. I have a Champion 1700W/2000W that has been great for 10+ years. I originally paid $400 but now they are up to $800 (Canadian). Still a lot less than a Honda.
I could see it for a trailer/camping, but not household backup. These things don't reduce the noise that much. I found the most effective noise suppressor to be distance, as in putting it in the garage on the far side of the house away from the bedroom with an exhaust extension to the outside. For the price of this "quiet" generator, I got 4400 watts and can run the whole house off that.
You forgot to mention charging a battery, which happens quite a bit if you are camping for a week and constantly using your car to charge other portable devices... or you left the trunk open and the light inside killed the battery after a few days.
FYI, they sell kits that have a replacement cap and floater that will refill the tank of small generators. When the gas gets below a certain level, it pumps gasoline until the floater turns it off. Hook it to a 5 gallon tank and you've got 60 hours at 25% ...
I bought a 2300 inverter gen from CPO tools..$235 I run in on my boat. Swim deck. To run the shore power AC and everything else on our 30ft Sea Ray..5 years running strong
I’m looking for a apt generator without carbon monoxide issues. But I don’t know much, Seattle we rarely get sun so solar energy isn’t optional unless mid summer. Any advice ¿
@@thuandao4243 Check out the LiFiPo4 power stations from places like Ecoflow. They can be charged by wall outlet, car or solar. Or you can build your own system for about the same cost, maybe a little less. Depends on how much power you need.
Great video! I am currently working on converting an all aluminum empty trailer into an rv/toyhauler. I’m wondering how I can achieve the highest thermal protection and best sound deadening properties. I’m building in from the aluminum shell and every inch I can save in wall thickness and every ounce I can save in weight is precious. Imo saw in another vid you encourage new questions, so I thought I’d just leave my question here. Thanks for the very informative material 👍👍👍
I'd probably opt for the cheaper generator, I already have a 1kw off grid solar setup for back up, but in the winter months you need a lot of solar so this would make sense on days where I need to recharge the batteries
I will agree Honda makes a great generator BUT it's out of most peoples price range. Like you said you could buy 4 of the Chinese generators to 1 Honda. How you break a generator in and maintain it plays into how long they will last. I own two Pulsar generators they work great.
How about building a quick tripod to place over the generator and draping it with a tarp and a blanket? To muffle the sound. I guess you would have to make sure air gets in to this small tent, made from sticks and paracord + blankets. Just an idea. This would also stop rain or snow from reaching the generator. Anyway great upload thx!
There are actually small tent like apparatus you can buy to protect them from the elements and muffle some of the noise. I talk more about it in this video - ruclips.net/video/q9h2LTLd748/видео.html
If you really want to make these things quiet build a small V shaped enclosure out of pressure treated 4x4 posts sunk in the ground. Cover both sides with plywood and fill it with sand.
I have a question regarding MLV, which I know you are a huge advocate of. I would like to know your thoughts on the comparison between MLV and Tecsound SY, which comes in a 10kg per square meter version. Which would you recommend as the best material between two layers of drywall? Again, many thanks for all the great content you've produced on RUclips!
It says table saw and shows a chop saw. My table saw has a 3 by 4 foot flat table with the motor hanging under to create tension for the drive V belt. Not sure that would power an Actual table saw then
Don't start out backwards. Determine what you must have running (including it's surge demand amps/watts)and buy the generator sized to your needs. The Honda and Yamaha generators have a generous surge capacity and don't instantly quit as soon as you put a load on them that temporarily exceeds their rated capacity, cheap generators it's a crap shoot. Running a Air Cooled generator is costly because they are inefficient so you might want to buy two. I actually have 4, a 4,000W one that will run everything I really need in the house. I would have to bring another (3,000W) online if I wanted to cook, do laundry and run my electric dryer. My air conditioning and refrigerator are "soft start" so I don't experience high surge loads. Expect 2.5 gallons of fuel to run that generator at 90% capacity for 12 hours if it says 10 hours at 25% capacity or 600W. 600W might be refrigerator TV and lights and a small fan. This might be enough, but it isn't for me. My main generator is 4200W inverter and it runs about 4 hours on 2 gallons of fuel at 80% load. Take a grain of salt with their estimated runtimes at whatever % load. Water cooled generators would be about as quiet as your car, use much less fuel and outside of expensive and high capacity construction site equipment, are hard to find. You can park a solid object between you and the generator to redirect sound or build a sandbag revetment or put the generator farther from you but you need to use heavy extension cords for that like 12 or 10ga because at 120V 100 feet of 16/3 extension cord could reduce your voltage down to 105V or so and the lower the voltage the more amps you draw. 240V is more forgiving 12ga to 14ga could be good enough. It's all about the Budget, in money and power and that's why having at least two generators is a good thing. You can shut one off when you need less power which is why I recommend you size primary generator to what you Must run so it has only about 20% extra capacity and have a second generator you can run for cooking, washing, drying and so forth.
Comparing the functions and performance of two brand new generators is one thing but only half the story, for example, how many cheap ones do you have to buy for every honda? Fuel consumption, size, weight etc etc ... The honda is more expensive for a very good reason.
We have gone through 3 A-ipower gensets over the last 5yrs, now we are shopping again and will not be buying another even though they are Yamaha powered. Two were rebuilts and both carbs failed "the electronic control device on top of the carb, the new one had a generator fail so the other two may have good generators/inverters on them so l may do a swap and keep a back up. These China built gensets are okay but nothing beats a Honda. We ran all 3 gensets every night for over a year before they failed, at least 350 days so it eas a great test. I will be making a video very soon showing them etc...
It all depends what your objective is: 1) Continuous Daily Use = OR= 2) Occasional/Emergency Use 3 to 7 days once every 18 to 24 months I have experimented with several generator sizes. 700/900 HF Tailgator 2 cyl 1200/1500 Champlon 4 cyl 1800/2200 Power?? Inv 4 cyl YOU For #1 Go HONDA $$$$ ME For #2 Go Chinese $$
You have much more faith in the common man than I do that you would be surprised by 20% one star reviews on anything with moving parts. I normally look at 4-5 star reviews and add them. Then I look at the 4- 3 star and below for common things that can go wrong.
Yeah I have one of those generators I put 30 hours on it and then went to pull it the next day the pull rope broke didn't think it was a big deal but it'll cost you about $300 just to fix the pull rope because you have to take the entire thing apart to get to The recoil assembly
One Question I would like to know is if the 12 Volt DC Plug will efficiently use the entire power output potential of the Generator, or not, for charging a Battery Bank. Or would that be a waste of gasoline? - T
No it won't. Practically all generators are limited to 8amps on the 12v output and that's just 96 watts. You also wouldn't want to run 12v over about 10 feet because of line resistance making voltage sag. They do make DC only output generators for trucks but they are expensive but efficient.
Its strongly seems to me, but I maybe missing something. The cheaper machine was running more than a few more revs higher compared to the Honda. Therefore more noise. Honda make very nice products but yes higher price. Do compated with other branded machines how does the cheap yellow one compare would be a more accurate comparision.
A generator like this would be a good, inexpensive backup for your main generator. That way if your main generator dies or won't start, you have a cheap backup option.
When the power is out you want to power your main thing that is going bad after a few days. Your refrigerator, tv, lights and charge cell phones. With any grid down or an emergency situation when you don't have power for a few days everyone's having a cookout. Because there's stuff in the refrigerator and freezer is going bad fast. After that everybody's rushing to the store to wipe out what's left if any is left at that point of groceries. Trying to run this cheap Chinese inverter generator for a few or several days when you've got a lot of money in the refrigerator and freezer. And on top of that is vital. You be lucky if you could run a full size refrigerator freezer with this Acer. But the Honda 2200 does and I've tested it on a 50 ft 10 gauge extension cord a full size refrigerator freezer. also with a big 19" fan running and kicking on a Skil saw. Honda is commercial grade. You better buy a few of these cheap Acer generators because if you go the cheap route you're going to need a few spares when they break. I first went the cheap route and bought 2 new cheap Chinese inverter generators and they both run on propane. One was the dual fuel and the other one was propane only. If you know anything about fuels propane is superior to gasoline. It doesn't have all those gasoline, carburetor, needle and seat, stale fuel, hard to start, no start, flooded engine, crankcase full of gasoline and more gasoline problems. The 1 dual fuel New cheap Chinese inverter generator I had stop making power. The overload light would come on right when it would start up it would still run but it would not make any power. The other small portable generator propane only. The engine locked up you couldn't pull the cord it was extremely tight. I've lost some time and money but the valuable lesson I learned. You get what you pay for and this is when I went with a new tri-fuel Honda. That I only run propane on because it's the superior care free fuel. That's been years ago and I haven't looked back since. Hondas are so good and extremely dependable and built for longevity. I now have a few of them. And of course all of them only run on propane. I even sell Honda tri fuel new generators on the side. On Facebook Marketplace if you're interested in one leave me a message thanks. You can also look up my name and search Honda eu2200i in Roanoke Virginia on Facebook Marketplace in the search bar. The price is 123, 456 and has the blue rubber cap beside the carry handle. I've got a few ads on Marketplace.
I have a Honda 3,000 watt and when I run it on quiet mode it makes a big jump in RPM to run a close to full load. Every time it does this it trashes the clean sign wave power and kills my wi-fi!! Sure if I run it on normal it doesn't do this!! I also burn a 5 gallon tank in half the time too! I found a work around! A stand alone battery to run the WI-FI. It gets charged by the generator but no spike in the power when a load hits the Honda. This is an amazingly stupid mess for a $2,400 honda to keep doing. I just replaced that Honda for $2,400!! Exact same one too. Why replaced because the Honda store put the wrong oil in and overfilled it!! Amazing service!! I'm getting a Kohler 2 phase 10kw that runs on natural gas next!! I'm 68 and too old to hump a 90 pound gasoline Honda out everytime the power craps out!! Back in 1960 the house was new and the power only went out once. Today in 2024 the house is 64 but the power craps out 8 to 10 times a year!!
Why don't you do a video on how to improve the Amazon 2024 with parts locally available.. The original budget model is base for starting , so just improve the reliability of the motor and other components that you identify as budget level and upgrade them.
Thanks for these vids. I have a room in the basement where I play guitar. I want to keep noise from leaking out, mostly through the ceiling and ceiling HVAC vent to the main floor. Since it's mostly about keeping airborne noise in, would those high density acoustic tiles do anything? And I still haven't figured out the vent... Maybe attach an insulated air deflector to it? Thx
I’m still unconvinced a generator is better than a power bank.jackery costs the same as the Honda even with solar panels and could theoretically do the same job with no fuel cost .or am I wrong?
As long as you have gasoline and oil, you can run this for days, 24 hours a day. A Jackery 3000 costs $2,500 and is good for about 3kwh. This unit can produce 1.8kw as long as it has fuel and oil. Yes, you can solar charge, but even if conditions are good and you have several panels, it will be slow and even more so if you want to use it while charging. Could it be 'better" for you? Sure. If you live in a high-rise, a gas powered generator is worthless, but a power bank could be priceless. Or, if the goal is to simply provide some portable power for charging phones, tablets and the like while camping, a power bank makes a lot of sense. But for me, when my extended outages have always been winter related and generally involve multiple days with no sun, a Jackery would make almost no real difference.
Most of the time the oil that comes into the boxes is if the unit is boxed in America if it's boxed overseas and comes into the states I can't have any fluids in it if it's coming across the ocean
Not available. It's designed so that it lasts just long enough that when it breaks you don't mind throwing it in the garbage and buying a new one for $300.
The real issue is long term reliability and repairability. Assuming that it works out of the box and is not defective, the performance of these is not far off from the Honda. Also, for occasional use, this type of product will probably last for some time. But if/when it breaks it could be difficult to find parts. No product is perfect. I’m sure even Honda has its share of quality issues, but they are actually repairable and maintainable over a long period of time instead of being disposable.
Just remember, cheap doesn't mean anything when it comes to repairs. Eventually that will need service. When you take it to a small engine shop and they laugh in your face, do not say I didn't tell you so. I refuse to work on this type of equipment. Finding parts will be impossible. If ANYTHING goes wrong within 5- 10 years, good luck. At least HONDA has been around for years and I can still get parts for them. Throw away mentality here.
Great video dude except for one or two very big bloopers but more about that in a tick but for me personally the EU2200 Honda Generator is by far the best choice as far as noise level and performance is concerned with a realistic run time between 3.2-8.1hrs albeit shorter than the stated 10hrs from the running time of the AceUp AI 2300 which as most of us can agree there needs no further comparisons nor introductions that should be necessary. Although if you are being entirely honest in respect of your presentation dude then you've kinda let the cat out the bag so to speak when you stated at 1:23 'and just to let you know this is not a sponsored video' which certainly does not come across as entirely accurate revealed by the hashtag alone. It's only when we are being presented with the AceUp AI 2300 generator compared to the Honda EU2200 then the blatantly obvious elephant in the room is in your statement dude that you made at 3:05 before immediately recommending the latter for the Honda generator but with no AceUp generator in sight, would it not be fair to say that if this is not a sponsored video then could we ask you to pull the other one dude?? 😆👍
I don't get the point of a usb port on the generator. If I have electrical cords coming from the generator into my house, I plug my normal phone charger into that, or surge suppressors I may have in the house have usb ports and I would not want to plug my phone in at the generator out potentially in the rain either. UPDATE: I didn't listen long enough to hear that the normal generator outlets don't supply clean power for small electronic devices. On the other hand, I've been charging my phones from a surge suppressor with no issues. Good to know the difference though.
My buddy's Honda generator needs the carb ran through every year, my cheapo from China hasn't needed a carb clean yet. I use both on my bowfishing rig, and fuel up at the same station every time. The only positive from the honda is that it is definitely quieter, but for the price difference I could have a custom silencer box made for mine and have some money left over.
how loud it is, doesn't effect the load. Who cares how loud it is, we want to what can you actually use on it. You boiled water?? that's it? i though you was gonna hook up some power tools, a frig, a stove.
@@jasonandersen5975I mean you’re not wrong but how loud\quiet it is makes no difference if it doesn’t produce consistent and reliable output. Pretty sure that was the point virgil was making.
Virgil, boiling a kettle is a good test of power as a lot of kettles are 1500+ watts. As they're converting electricity into heat it saps a lot of juice. A lot of power tools are around that if not less. Just as an example my compound mitre saw is 1500w peak. It'll run at less than that once moving. Kettles are a good way of testing generators to be fair 😅
You should have had the generators in exactly the same location doing the decibel tests! You had the Honda in the grass close to the ground and the Aceup on the table where the vibration and resonance would be much louder than on the soft soil! You failed in this comparison!
The difference is due to the RPM which is due to the difference in engine horse Power. Less horse power - less fuel consumption. More HP,,= More fuel consumption.
I have burned through 10 generators in 9 years and I'm here to tell you the ONLY generator to stand the test of time, use, abuse, hours and reliability is The Honda. I'm over 2000 hours and counting without doing anything but general maintenance. ALL other generators start falling apart at about 600 hours. You'll get another 600 out of em after a bunch of maintenance then kerput. HONDA is the only generator to buy if you depend on it. I've been off grid for 9 years and I'm very hard on EQ. I can't seem to break that HONDA.
When renting is very difficult to soundproof these types of noise because of the vibrations they cause. Decoupling is the only way to get it done with the use of a resilient channel. That’s not feasible when renting.
It’s simple. Honda is more expensive, because not only are you paying for the generator, but you are paying for the research and development plus the the Honda name which is known for reliability. Ace up is a Chinese company. China has no copyright laws. They are literally ripping off Honda and undercutting them. If Honda goes out of business (which they won’t) they will be biting the hand that feeds them.
Honda is a global company, their range of generator models are made in Japan, Thailand, USA, China and India. Quite a few of their inverter generators are actually manufactured in China. Manufacturing plants in the United States typically manufacturer a particular part for a larger item, and most of the factories in the US are quite small compared to those in China. As far as Honda goes, most of their products are designed in Japan and the United States. Starting in The late 1970s, manufacturing companies in the United States began to outsource nearly all manufacturing overseas because of the cheaper cost of labor. Most people are not aware that 90% of consumer electronics and retail goods, such as tools, home products, TVs, etc... Nearly all consumer products are made in China. I too was under the impression that Chinese built items were all inferior, but I was very wrong. Some of the most expensive items sold in the US are actually manufactured in China. China is capable of producing incredibly high quality, reliable products. Just take a look around your house and see how many things you own are made in China. Open up a few items containing electrical components, and you'll then see that almost all small scale electrical components are made in China. Many us corporations instruct the factories in China that manufacture their products to build them as cheaply as possible. Doing this, they are able to sell things at a much cheaper price, and they make significantly larger profits on their goods. Basically, If Chinese factories are told to build cheap, inexpensive junk, they will build junk. If they are told to build high quality, reliable, expensive items, they are capable of building that too. People don't seem to realize our economy is completely globalized, in China manufactures more products than any other country in the world by far. The era of manufacturing in the US and Japan ended quite a long time ago. Every company in the US outsources some part of their manufacturing process to China. This is why it is so important that we maintain relations with China, because if we don't, the things we need to maintain our infrastructure are no longer accessible, since a huge number of critical products are only made in China. Hell, our lifestyles revolve around Chinese products. Pick up anything in Walmart and look at the manufacturing label. The same goes for Amazon. It's likely manufactured in China. The problem is, there aren't very many other stores remaining besides Walmart, Amazon, and... Well, there aren't many more. Best Buy will be going out of business in mid-2025, or possibly, if they can make it long enough, early 2026. This is all due to the actions of greedy American corporations... They've become monopolies. It typically costs 5 to 10 times more to manufacture items in the US than in China. This depends on the particular item, but for 90% of retail goods, this is a rule of thumb that is usually quite accurate. However, most of our food is grown here in the United States, thank goodness. There are still some items manufactured in the US, but not many. A few other countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia... maybe a couple other Asian countries, produce clothing and similar goods. About 90% of all the goods we purchase are manufactured in China. Considering the number of military conflicts occurring in the world right now, perhaps it's a good thing that we rely on China to manufacture our goods, and they rely on us to buy their goods. Without us, China would go broke. Without China, well, we wouldn't have much of anything. Far too many items vital to our survival, such as transformers for the power grid, a huge number of computer components, and a list far too long for me to rattle off are made in China, and only in China. Going to war with him would be a very, very bad idea... For many reasons. reasons.
Chinese manufacturers can build anything, from total cheap junk to highest quality premium units and still be 1/4 of price what US made unit. Everything depends what importer orders and how much $$$$ wants to make

I have two Honda generators. One is at least 15 years old. Yes it was expensive. It cost almost $1100 back then. But It’s quiet and sips gas, it will run 6-8 hours on 1.1 gallons of gas. I use a harbor freight generator and I could not be happier about its performance.
This generator is most likely basically the same as a Predator 2000 sold by HF.
I recently came across a sale on PowerSmart 2500 inverter generators on Amazon for $55 ea so snagged two. They are usually $380ish.
Nice👍
Wow, you got a good deal. Good for you.
Where do you get parts for them?
I run a couple of Firman generators, they are great quality.
Yeah next to the neighbors camper 😅
@@robertlivingston1634 what's the purpose of camping if your neighbor is that close in the first place? You might as well stay in the city.
@@rupe53 it's a joke, most people now Days call glamping camping. Haven't camped in years but when I did I didn't need a generator!
@@robertlivingston1634 glamping is better . i'll have an eternity to sleep in nature, after i die and they bury me till then its fan and a/c time. .
Glad I bought the Honda EU2200i back in 2018. It's super quiet and very reliable. Never looked back. Just me. 😊
I have a big gen and a few chargeable battery banks. Those are to expensive for what they are.
You pay for what you get…… Honda or some 100% Chinese pos that might run for a short time.
@@wrzl1675 U could buy 3 chinese
Have 2 of these little Hondas and they’re excellent. Expensive yes but are very reliable and quiet.
Noise, simple.Make a small folding insulated screen,to put around the generator.
Thanks so much for sharing this! I don’t know a lot about generators, but I feel like you explained the pros and cons in a way that even a dummy like me can understand!
Happy you found value! 😎
The sound on the Honda, it oozes reliability! the other screams I hope your only using me for a short time! Good Video!
Your thumbnail stated, "This can't be legal." Was it legal? What aspect of legality was in question?
Hate the bait too. It's why this vid didn't get a like from me, even though it is good enough for one.
On two sections the deer don’t mind and the coyotes stay away

Lol. Guys... it's just a saying. If something is so good, it must be illegal. Adage used all the time
The Honda is running at a lower RPM in all the tests you did.. that would probably indicate lower power output from the engine...
I would use the DC 12 volt outlet to charge a car battery using the supplied charging cable.
How long do you leave the charging cables on the battery safely?
There are alternatives between the AceUp and the Honda also.
I have a Champion 1700W/2000W that has been great for 10+ years.
I originally paid $400 but now they are up to $800 (Canadian). Still a lot less than a Honda.
I could see it for a trailer/camping, but not household backup. These things don't reduce the noise that much. I found the most effective noise suppressor to be distance, as in putting it in the garage on the far side of the house away from the bedroom with an exhaust extension to the outside. For the price of this "quiet" generator, I got 4400 watts and can run the whole house off that.
For someone who might be a long distance from civilization for extended periods, durability and repair ability are more important than upfront cost.
So is having 3 spares.
@@robertkubrick3738 Or one, and multiple spares for every part that might fail. Or/and alternate solutions to what you need it for.
What uses 12 volts ?
Car radio, CB radio
A great deal of ham radio equipment ( with global coverage)
You forgot to mention charging a battery, which happens quite a bit if you are camping for a week and constantly using your car to charge other portable devices... or you left the trunk open and the light inside killed the battery after a few days.
That is as loud as my 2400 watt generator which is quite loud!! A kettle is a good testing tool. Cheers 👍
the 12-volt hookup is great for when you have a dead car battery
Very true!
FYI, they sell kits that have a replacement cap and floater that will refill the tank of small generators. When the gas gets below a certain level, it pumps gasoline until the floater turns it off. Hook it to a 5 gallon tank and you've got 60 hours at 25% ...
Had my Honda for over 20 years , still starts second time & runs as good as it did when I got it. Wouldn’t consider anything else.
I bought a 2300 inverter gen from CPO tools..$235
I run in on my boat. Swim deck. To run the shore power AC and everything else on our 30ft Sea Ray..5 years running strong
Awesome!
Ace Up all the way. The colors are the best!
I bought the Westinghouse iGen2200 6-7 years ago for HALF the price of the overpriced Honda and it works just as good. Great little generator!
Those Westinghouse are great generators! Thanks for sharing!
Another great review. Thanks!
It’s definitely not a bad unit. I still
Use mine after almost a year and nothing wrong with it!
I will agree Honda makes a great generator BUT it's out of most peoples price range. Like you said you could buy 4 of the Chinese generators to 1 Honda. How you break a generator in and maintain it plays into how long they will last. I own two Pulsar generators they work great.
Keep them properly maintained, avoid overloading and you can expect them to last quite a few years.
Cover both sides with plywood and fill it with sand.
the honda tone frequency reminds me of some youtube sleep frequency videos...so that may be another use for it...however, $300 is a very good deal...
I bought this today off Amazon, will not be using it everyday so I hope it works out
I have a question regarding MLV, which I know you are a huge advocate of.
Buying this
I just did but have trouble getting started!
Comparing the functions and performance of two brand new generators is one thing but only half the story, for example, how many cheap ones do you have to buy for every honda? Fuel consumption, size, weight etc etc ... The honda is more expensive for a very good reason.
Seems the ACE is running too fast. Did you verify the Frequency at each gen?
That's how it makes the 2300w 😅
Please tell me, what kind of oil does the Aceup require?
It says in the video
We have gone through 3 A-ipower gensets over the last 5yrs, now we are shopping again and will not be buying another even though they are Yamaha powered. Two were rebuilts and both carbs failed "the electronic control device on top of the carb, the new one had a generator fail so the other two may have good generators/inverters on them so l may do a swap and keep a back up. These China built gensets are okay but nothing beats a Honda. We ran all 3 gensets every night for over a year before they failed, at least 350 days so it eas a great test. I will be making a video very soon showing them etc...
It all depends what your objective is:
1) Continuous Daily Use

2) Occasional/Emergency Use 3 to 7 days once every 18 to 24 months
I have experimented with several generator sizes.

1200/1500 Champlon 4 cyl
1800/2200 Power?? Inv 4 cyl

Consider competition leaving false reviews. Not saying that's the case but it happens

Let's see, my honda EU 6500 is 29 years old, I'm staying with Honda.
I bought 400 of them generators and now I run the entire Town's power source take that Honda
Why were you charging small dc batteries with AC power?
Amazing! Thank you.
Is the ace up pure sine wave
No matter the sound or the performance. How long will it last?
Just long enough so that when it breaks you don't mind throwing it in the garbage and buying another one.
It has to run much faster to be able to create the same wattage the Honda makes at a normal rpm.
A generator like this would be a good, inexpensive backup for your main generator. That way if your main generator dies or won't start, you have a cheap backup option.
I wouldn't doubt if that Generator is a repackaged Habor Freight PREDATOR Generator. It looks very similar.
will not ship to CA...?

Thx

Doesn't look like they sell that particular Assup generator any more.
That ace looks like the Yamaha?
Well i dont need a generatore forboiling water, it must be able to rummy fridg, gas boiler and a light in the room.
Which one is quieter when they're not running?
Hmmmm, that’s a tough one to measure. I’ll let you know in a follow up video.
That’s right! I never thought of that. Thanks for the clarification!
what about getting parts for repair
Not available. It's designed so that it lasts just long enough that when it breaks you don't mind throwing it in the garbage and buying a new one for $300.
The real issue is long term reliability and repairability. Assuming that it works out of the box and is not defective, the performance of these is not far off from the Honda. Also, for occasional use, this type of product will probably last for some time. But if/when it breaks it could be difficult to find parts. No product is perfect. I’m sure even Honda has its share of quality issues, but they are actually repairable and maintainable over a long period of time instead of being disposable.
True! But you can buy 4-5 of these for the same price as 1 Honda.
You just throw it out when it breaks and buy a new one that's why they're only $300
Just remember, cheap doesn't mean anything when it comes to repairs.
I agree as a small shop, it’s just scrap 😢😢😢😢
Ok, but if you can buy 4 of them for 1 Honda, that means they last 20-40 years, which is pretty darn good.
I love my HONDA generators.
Good to know the difference though.
cheap tools surely work, the question is for how long. Quality products often last much longer.
Honda will start on first pull 20 years from now
about 2 hours a gallon, sounds pretty thirsty. most measure fuel lasting on 1/2 load
It's because it runs at a much faster RPM to make the same power the Honda makes at a lower RPM
You need 12 volts to charge the rv batteries
Don't know where you r in newfoundland canada this is 600 dollars plus tax another 15 percent
how loud it is, doesn't effect the load. Who cares how loud it is, we want to what can you actually use on it. You boiled water?? that's it? i though you was gonna hook up some power tools, a frig, a stove.
If you spend time camping/RVing you care how loud it is because a loud generator will get you tossed from campgrounds in a heartbeat.
@@jasonandersen5975I mean you’re not wrong but how loud\quiet it is makes no difference if it doesn’t produce consistent and reliable output. Pretty sure that was the point virgil was making.
Engine Rpm does matter, and as everyone knows… the faster the rpm the more wear on the engine.
@@athannaelanderson3806 video is garbage anyways.
Can this charge a Tesla from the trunk?
I'm buying this. Thanks. Like your Minnesota accent 😊
How do u soundproof the ceiling and wall from low frequency sound / vibrations when u rent please ?
When renting is very difficult to soundproof these types of noise because of the vibrations they cause. Decoupling is the only way to get it done with the use of a resilient channel. That’s not feasible when renting.
What about being the owner (in a flat) ? ty

HONDA HAS A STEONG ENGINE,RELIABLE AND WILL BE READYMWHENMYA NEED IT!!!!!!
Honda sounds better, and revs lower makes more torque and power
Agreed.
Talk to me in a year of running it. The Honda will still be humming along, the Chineseium mystery meat generator will be dust.
