Wow. This has been the most helpful video by far! I don’t think letting my baby cry it out after soothing them for 4 months is fair to them. So this is a great video!! Thanks so much I am gonna start today!
Hi Elen, of your LO is around 6 months old and is waking every 2 hours it's likely for comfort or moreso not actually knowing how to resettle without the feed. At this age you could expect 1-2 wakes overnight out of genuine hunger but if you are getting more than that it's likely to do with how much or how little day sleep she's having or she's needing the help to fall back to sleep. Our Program can help you see improvements www.littleones.co/products/ultimate-sleep-nutrition-program
@@littleonesbabysleep the things is she can not fall asleep without feeding, I watched your video about it. I tried making schedule, she is having 3 hours or a little bit more nap time in the day. They even get longer then 45 min. She just can't settle. I'm trying comforting her with pating, taking, fairytales, even rocking, singing but all don't work as feeding. I tried even making her feeding times into 3 hours so she can wake at night every 3 hours, doesn't work.... I feel I'm starting to feel very tired. I know it's common and not new for all mums. I even bought sleep training program before seeing your channel.... I don't know. Hopefully I will manage somehow to change this habit.
Hi Elen, Moving her into her own room may help but if she's heavily relying on being fed to fall asleep and to resettle it's likely she'll carry on needing that whether she's in her own room or yours. Try giving her some space to settle herself, set a timer you are comfortable with and then when that's up, go in and use feed as a way to calm.. not all the way to sleep then place her back down and repeat until she's asleep. It might mean that there's a few days where she doesn't settle quickly but given time and practice she will get it. We do have a method to help babies used to being fed to sleep learn to settle independently in our Program which I linked in my comment above.
Going through the 4 month regression and a strong feed to sleep association. Nothing else works really. Waking 4-5x a night. What I’m finding hard is that when baby wakes at night and I’m trying to reduce the feed to drowsy, is that time frame is so short. He literally suckles a few times and is drowsy/falling asleep. So it’s such a short space of time that I’m struggling to achieve being put into the bassinet drowsy, as he is often asleep already?! What do you think I should try?
When working on self settling we usually say to initially work on just the start of naps and bedtimes until they've got that nailed and are self settling 80-90% of the time, and while that's happening continue to resettle during naps and overnight as you were previously... Once they've got the hang of the start of sleeps move onto working on the resettles. When you are settling, try rocking till drowsy and make sure you pat their bottom/side and shush (if you don't have the shhh track) loudly at the same time. Once drowsy continue patting and shushing whilst laying them in their bed feet first, continue patting until asleep. The first goal is getting them to fall asleep in their own bed first. Once you have done that for a day or two start gradually reducing the patting so you’re just patting them in bed until drowsy, stop patting and then just shhhhhh till asleep. Next time pat and shhh till drowsy then walk out, wait 6 mins and if they are 'crying up' go in and repeat. If at any time it gets to 30 mins past nap time then do whatever you can to get them to sleep and try again next nap. Persistence and consistency is key. Head to their room 10 mins before nap time to wind down and get ready for bed, start settling 5 mins before, this is when they are perfectly ready for bed. Settling them in a dark room with the shhh noise playing will also really help with the settling and staying asleep. Aim on 2 hours + 15 mins of awake time between naps and 2 hours before bed.
Hi I follow your program and my son is doing reasonably well. I was wondering if my son receives his overnight feed and then falls asleep during burping, is this developing a habit to fall asleep with my assistance? I find it unavoidable for him to not fall asleep during the burping process, but also it is a process that needs to be done. Should I be rousing him when I put him down in his cot?
Hi Andrew, that should be fine for now, if your baby is waking very regularly looking to be fed back to sleep then not so ideal. Try to keep your LO awake during the feed if you can though. As a customer you are welcome to post in our village for more support.
Great video. I have a 4 month old and would like to start implementing some of your suggestions however my baby has some reflux so i like to keep him upright for at least 10 mins after being fed to sleep before putting him in his crib - i guess i can't do the feed to drowsy and put straight into crib until the reflux has passed?
If your baby has reflux and you need to keep him upright after feeds, you could try using another method to help him get drowsy before popping him down such as a cuddle, rocking or patting.
Dude. FINALLY.
Thank you THANK YOU for actually giving us tips we hadn't already heard. I could cry. Thank you
I’m SOOOO encouraged no other sleep coach has talked about the picking them backup and nursing again!! That’s such a good idea
