Ugh, it is almost uncomfortable how easy this boss is. Uplift and Fireball seriously? He should have had combos like White Field followed by Magnify followed by Meteor Shower immediately, loads of status effects, much higher HP, counters and so on. Shame really, this makes the fight feel less epic
I’ve seen this boss cast high magic VERY rarely, I think it is some hiccup in it’s AI where the more of a field effect you allow to build (of any color) the more it can use higher elements or even summons. That’s just a guess, then again with this game there’s an equal probability it’s just easy for take of easy 🤷♂️ that, being said this play-through does seem to validate the hypothesis insofar as rotating elements to cast

I remembered play this 7 yo, as girl and defeat this thingy sound like achievement. And when defeat the game i felt graduated 🤣🤣🤧 very satisfying game especially with the music and serge x kid relationship

@@BuffMaister I never thought of that...that's actually really clever game design...also it pains me to see this fight and you NOT using the Mastermune considering it's Serge's ultimate weapon I like to get it as early as possible it's a struggle but it's worth it especially if you know how to cheese the Dario fight also Glenn Dual-Wielding 2 Einlanzers is badass
Because it's not a mistake, even though it seems like one. This isn't the "original" Dragon God; it was defeated and consumed by Lavos aka the "Time Devourer", so you're actually fighting Lavos who is controlling the Dragon God.

Correct. Masamune has a higher chance to crit and gives a higher crit damage. That's where Masamune supercedes spectral swallow. Spectral swallow has higher base damage, but not by much. It just looks shiny.
You lose in at the start on a NG+ run The Einlanzer for Glenn counts a KEY ITEM so you LOSE it for him as well so Make a Spectral Sword for him sure I NEVER had Glenn join on a first run BUT since I KEPT Fargo in the party I made at least 1 Spectral Sword for Fargo to equip.

That's awkward to not include kid in the party, yet she still shows up. If I were Serge I would include Kid and a party member, like Glenn, Leanna, Guile, Norris, Riddle, Zoea or any strong character I have recruited.

I still look at boss fights like these and compare them to how Chrono Trigger felt.. i still feel the same way: Chrono Cross is not a sequel to Chrono Trigger, it is it's own thing entirely. A shame we didn't get a Chrono Trigger remake yet. Awesome boss fights in Chono Cross though.
@@likeicareusewe Let's be honest, with how Cross' plot is structured, you can easily remove/replace the Trigger refences and not lose much of anything.
@@FF8Irvine_Fan it performs just as worse on PS5 the ps1 original runs better then this. They need to address the issue, the framerate is horrid. Pc being an exception, cos there's a 60fps fix to it. There is no reason this should run as bad as it is, SE are just too lazy to even fix the problem

PC has a fix for the bad frames, but not consoles. Still waiting for a restoration mod as well as a difficulty mod. The dragon god only does 10 damage per hit... pre-New Game +. One shouldn't be able to beat this game so easily with Poshul and Janice, who do critical hits almost every hit.
@@Yusei255 lucky for you, the game has gotten a patch to fix that stuff, it just took SQEX a couple of months after the release as they also fixed Pipp's stats too.
fyi this is the smoothened out remaster new option which imo make some of the backgrounds and new 3D models worse in compare. Luckily the original graphic option is still availible for this remaster, just with a widescreen option added to it and some minor dialogue changed up, which is still my way to go for this!

Chrono Cross is still played until now, shows how much a great game it is despite it being PS1. This was definitely ahead of its time.

I might have accepted the low damage if his defenses were way higher. Like really push the six element order so you loop a few times.

You must have used Summons, it doesn't lower your level or anything. Rest/Sleep at the inn and it will replenish.
Played this over and over and never slept in an inn. So the stars replenish if you sleep at the inn.

They went to all the trouble of remastering this game, but didn't bother correcting the translation error where this boss is called the Time Devourer.
It's not a translation error; it's called "Toki o kurau mono" (lit. The One Who Eats Time) in Japanese.

I thought this version had better textures but this boss looks like trash.
The boss’s design was just as ugly in the original, and they’re staying true to accuracy.
