I was just about 13 when this game came out. I got it for my birthday. I liked it but did not appreciate it as i should have. I was able to get to the 3rd disc but at the time I did not understand you can teach abilities from your weapons and items you obtained throughout the game. I am 32 now and Ive been playing this game for the first time since i was about 14. Now my brain found time to develop, i now understand not only the ability system fully more but appreciate the fantastic story. This game is a fan service to the classic final fantasy games in terms of the 4 character battle system, rearranged segments and bits from classic ff games. Even scores in general have that FFIV feel to it (FFII for me, first ever ff game) was wonderful. Not to mention the mist part of the game is very similar to something from iv. I have never beat the game. Im changing that this month.

I played FFVI before FFVII and I know why I like it a way more : Univers, story, characters, feelings, musics (even if FFIX has the best FF soundtrack for me and actually it's the Uematsu's favorite too), Terra is my favorite FF character, the story is dark and mature. I don't like the FFVII univers, too SF for me, I prefer Fantasy, I like dreaming when I play and FFVI and FFIX bring me that feeling. FFVII did it too but not enough. Even though IX is one of my most disliked FF games i still have always loved the music in it. IX actually have my favorite battle theme in the whole series.
@Xtafa For me personally i don't like the world,setting or characters(i love Vivi though). It's too "fantasy" for my tastes, i like FF games with more "realistic" characters and setting like VI,VII,VIII and X. I could say Crystal Chronicles is an exception as i really enjoy it. Although i can't stand XIII or any of it's sequels. FF XV too was a great disappointment, but i still have small hope that Episode Ardyn and the final update could redeem it a bit.

i like your slightly different take on this rendition, but it didn't hit me as much as your other remakes =) the imagery that comes immediately with the original and the orchestral version, is that of a sunset that's fast setting, with the person longing and wondering when will he ever return to his home some day. i just didn't get that same imagery with your version but i do like the different direction you took, purely on an artistic merit!
My fav FF, no guilty pleasure at all. Because its more true to its roots (no offence to FF 7 and 8, i love them too), the characters, the story, the soundtrack: All of it is just magic...
