Quercus Suber, awesome trees wish mine would make Acorns not old enough yet, I think that age is 50, Matt styling it up over at Wigarts. Their Cypress starters are very impressive. They also have some Killer Crepe myrtle

What a cool gifts! And the comeback of viewers photos ❤ 'specially those cork-bark oaks .... I maybe have to start travelling to south of Europe, not just the north......
If you don't like using peat, try and use coir with it/ or plain coir. Good for seeds and seedlings and a renewable source unlike peat. Keeps moisture preeeetty well, but is also well draining. Can be mixed up with perlite and/or pumice. But the OG Nigel-Saunders mix is the best for root growth and drainage 🧡

@@BlueJayBonsai i put all my collected seeds in zip-lock bags with moist coir in the fridge for the winter... Keeping my fingers crossed for a lot of green come spring 💚
Last year when I had the horrid fungal gnat issue I had used that same stuff in Emily’s vegetable seed trays. And yes pain to get wet and absorb water. I would have to do a soak method. Never again!

I use this promix in my bonsai soil mix. But im probably going to cut it out.

Super dry, leave in bag and add water till moist. Water. Knead by hand, etc.

@@baldyeti I always pour water into a dry mix and then mix by hand and add a little more water until the soil in the bag is moist, not wet. Then it is ready to use. Hope this helps.

I know Nigel's typical mix but wondered if there was a specific seed soil mix that he uses. Is it just a smaller particle size of the usual and some potting soil? I think he mentions that in one of his @thebonsaizone videos.
