Sad to see what the Gardiner Expressway destroyed to appease the automobile gods. Ditto for destroying South Parkdale for the Gardiner Expressway intersection.

This brings back memories as far back as 78 years ago. I was taken to Sunnyside Amusement Park, Merry Go Round, that huge swimming pool too. We used to promenade along the Boardwalk on a Sunday afternoon in the summer and always went at Easter in our new Easter outfits each year.

Can you do a video on Mount Pleasant road. There used to be a streetcar running on it.

An excellent video- all I know about the amusement park is from Mike Filey's books. Nice to see films of it. I assume a "Red Hot" is a hot dog?

This is a fabulous video, made all the more effective with its 'Then' and 'Now' format. My dad spoke very fondly of his years growing up in the Sunnyside area. Thank you for giving me insight into what a charming and exciting neighbourhood it was.

Hey Trevor, your videos are well shot, interesting, and well written. You really need to work on your narration though. Sometimes you speak too quickly without cleay enunciating and it makes you hard to understand at times. Slow down and try to enunciate a bit more. If you look online you can find some videos and other materials with tips on how to do voice overs. Check them out and practice.

@@ontariopastandpresent9491 He makes a minor but valid point, I produce a podcast so I’m used to giving feedback and I realize sometimes you are rushing to fit in all the information you wrote, But I generally think your writing is spot on, and as a history buff I appreciate the information, and to do that you have to say it all in the limited time of your corresponding footage, so you talk fast. I suppose you could slow down the old video, or run some clips twice but I think you might already do that in some cases. This particular video does go by quickly, it’s lot of history for limited footage, in a limited amount of \time. in a different world I would suggest a long and short version, but I know that would dilute views. In my opinion it’s not at all the annunciation, it’s the speed, it’s hard to keep up with you. We want to relax, listen, learn something, enjoy it, and (here’s what takes up the most amount of time) we get distracted, we have our own emotional reaction to our own experience to seeing the footage, and the specific things in the footage that are important to each of us individually. In this one there is a large Esso sign, that was always visible from lakeshore, and the gardener, and the queens way etc, for decades (I grew up in MT Dennis), I rewatched that part 6 times. I can’t explain why, I just did. So it’s a good problem and the solution may just be for me to watch it, and then watch it again. I don’t think you need to do anything except hear the feedback and be aware of your audiences’ experience. Know when there is just too much so you edit.

Trevor / do you have any info on a restaurant called The Chicken Palace which was down on Lakeshore - around Sunnyside. I remember going there as a kid for dinner. I can find no mention of it anywhere. Thanks
