Better yet, why not just have a slideshow playing alongside reading. better yet, why not have a slideshow with audio and text accompanying? Better yet, why not ditch the slideshow and just have a video playing with audio and text? You have just come full circle, because what I just described is a a movie or tv show or youtube video (visual and audio) with captions (reading), and you can pause and look up defenitions whenever, although if you keep looking up constantly, you will forget faster and therefore looking up a few words while immersing (what we call it) helps retention in the brain.
