We love those proboxes here in Kenya. They are driven like land jets by madmen who transport perishable khat . I drove both (probox and succeed) for five years for work and still miss it because other drivers generally fear probox drivers.

I love these weird wagons that they make in Japan. 1.5L barebones, made for the driver to be comfortable enough to not want to murder people whilst in traffic.
Did a double take to make sure I was watching a Noriyaro video and not a Top Gear one at first, but the Probox looks like one of those stealth fighters, lightweight, upgradeable and practical enough that you can use it for shopping runs and still have fun while doing it.
Also "Pro-Succ" and "Pro-State", spat out my coffee laughing.

I used to have a Yaris TS (Vitz RS) a few years back, and I really loved the 1nz-fe engine. Was a very fun car to commute with, easy to maintain and very responsive.
If that's a -200KG "Yaris TS" then it should be brilliant.

Out here in Kenya the probox has a cult following for it's built quality they survive some of the worst roads you can imagine. You even find them lifted offroading out here

It is the same for Brazil's Fiat Uno, the fastest car in the world... specially with a ladder on the roof rack.

I saw a few manual versions of these up for auction the other day, even though they're a 3.5 rating. Still, be good to be stripped down and turned into a track toy! Actually, I kinda want one now.
In Jamaica, the most popular (and notorious car) for taxi drivers is the Probox.
From the factory they are lightweight, fuel efficient and the taxi drivers have never been accused of being slow.
This video might get the algorithms from Africa given how "popular" Proboxes are there.

You’re right, it was bad idea filming this 😅 I’ve been living in Japan for about half a year now and when I first started seeing these cars everywhere they were very reminiscent of my Volvo 940 back home. I also love Toyota, and I had an Acura 1.6EL which was a blast of an FF, so this seems like a naturally ideal car for me. I had no idea they had so much potential for speed though! I’m guessing these didn’t come in a manual though would need a swap. I’m driving a JA11 Jimny right now and loving it, goes great in the snow here in Niigata, but I can definitely see myself in one of these Succ-box… Pro-state… wagons one day. I’ll be here for 5 years, plenty of time to think it over!

Ironically, Probox is the first car I saw when I arrived in Tokyo, Japan!
Going out from the train station in Asakusa, there are couple of Proboxes parked outside the station entrance.
I daily a manual Echo (basically a 1st gen Vitz/Platz but mine is a 2 door coupe), with coilovers and 15" Kosei K1s it cleaned up well, and with stickier tires its fun as hell to beat on.
The 1NZ is bulletproof too, mine has 250k miles and only burns oil, its never needed to be resealed.
Highly recommend anything on that platform with a 1NZ, theres no way a PRO-SUCC could let you down as a parts getter!

This sort of reminds me of that time Peugeot wanted to advertise the 806. They got parts from a 405 MI16, 306 maxi and the body of the 806 together to make the 806 procar. The result, the BIG M8 meme but with a literal MPV whilst the others was saloons. They were allowed due to the 405s chassis being a saloon.

Cheap, light, Toyota. What's not to like. Maybe add the Blitz supercharger kit to gain some extra HP and I can't imagine that makes anyone unhappy.
The problem is that after installing the kit it's the beginning of the end of that engine

This could be a great sleeper, but then the exhaust has to get a more normal sound. Remember the Lancer EVOs stock exhaust? You didin't hear the 300 horses it has, but they were there. The Ultimate tune for the Probox would be the drivetrain from the 90s Impreza WRX. Imagine AWD in the Probox. But i guess it would be better to get a 98 Forester and lower it.
I loved this new format and I would be happy to see more based on lesser known Japanese cars like this. Great work.

I've had one of those imported from Japan. It's a well built vehicle to last forever.
This car is very common in Bangladesh too. Because, JDM reconditioned cars are available at auction houses. Although our import tax is starting from 80-300% based on the engine size.

Please keep making more of these videos so people learn there's more to JDM cars other than rotarys, RBs and JZs. It's refreshing to see all the Kei trucks in the states. Might help bring down the JDM tax and do us all a favor if people have other cars they want

Очень крепкая подвеска(сзади мост) позволяет не замечать неровностей, а в целом низкая цена позволяет не боятся вообще ничего. Такие машины очень любят доставщики, выездные ремонтники/мастера и прочие. 60.000 км проехал за год - можно продать и взять по свежее. Один такой продавали - запомнилось что целой осталась только крыша-был бит вкруг, но это ни разу не пугало - все детали дешевые.

This one was a local grey import favorite back in 2011 and 12. It felt almost like some sort of a fever as people bought Probox models from Japan like crazy and there wouldn't be any day without seeing at least one of those on the roads.

0:25 we have the same joke here in Brazil due the same reason, but the car is the italian FIAT Uno.
We have something similar in Brasil, the good old Fiat Uno and Fiat Punto, the type of car that, when added a company's logo and a stair to the roof, can become faster than any other vehicle and defy the laws of physics. I have seen some internet technicians driving those and going as far as to follow ambulances up into the curb and sidewalk, doing tight curves and accelerating downhill.
Usually when you have to explain a joke, it isn't funny. This explanation was the setup for the joke, though. And it was amazing. I hope you buy one and make it a running gag on the channel, now.
