23:23 Just turn on transparency in the background and turn off BG and ground. To save the image with transparency just click the little 📷 icon in the bottom left. This will export an image. If your game is 3D then you will need to export a 3D model on the bottom right. (Export - obj ir ply )
Hi there! I'm glad this helped you. In your render options next to the colour palette, if you click "ALL", you will see that one of the tabs that becomes available is called "Geometry". Click where it says "Sparse". This will enable the "big scene" mode basically. Unfortunately there will be a limit on how many voxels you can have on your scene even with this open, but maybe is enough for your scene! Good luck.
Very well explained and thorough! This program has a lack of documentation and many options become "hidden" so tutorials like these are fantastic. THANK YOU! By the way, talking about noise, at he end when you talk about that image->render button that doesn't save the bloom effect, I can see there's a Filter->Denoise buttond below it, so maybe you could use it instead of throwing more rays, in case this is quicker. One question, when the window is out of focus, it stops rendering! Is there an option about that? I mean, rendering can take some time and I could be working in something else at the same time but no, I don't know how to allow it to render when MagicaVoxel window is not active...
Hey! Thank you! I'm glad it helped you. I've never used the denoise filter. The only way to render with the program minimised is to use the render button on the top right. The drawback is that your will not get bloom effects on your lights. On the other hand, you get faster render, a size bigger then 2024x2024 and rendering minimised. I guess you can use one of the other depending on what you need. I assume that the render button will include bloom effects in future version. This software is constantly being updated! Hope it helps. Cheers!
@@SynthHunters Ah, I see, so that render button is not useless at all, but no bloom is a drawback. As you say maybe it will be improved in following versións, or allow the real-time render not to pause. I think only bloom is affected, I tried vignette, aperture, DOF... all those are rendered to image. By the way, yoy should try the denoise plugin, it's very cool. At first it did nothing but it's because you have to download it separately and copy to magicavoxel folder. It's in MagicaVoxel website. It only works with render in the preview, though, so no image render again.
Do you know or have any tutorial on how to flat shade voxels? I had been looking for information on how to make voxel art look more like "3d pixel art". Thank you for this tutorial.
Hi there! Have you tried using emissive materials without power? They are basically flat shaders. I could look into that further if thats not exactly what you need!
Hello! Actually no I hadn't thought to try that. I'm actually quite new to 3d modelling and voxels and am just getting my feet wet. I'll have to look into how to use emissives materials and see if that gives the proper look. If you could indeed expand upon that subject I would most appreciate it. Thank you so much.
23:30 . Just turn off BG and gd on the bottom left options and select transparent background. It's explained in the video. Then use the little camera bottom left icon to save the image with transparency. About importing things directly into the game, I assume you are taking about geometry. In that case saving an image with transparency will not help you. You need to export an obj or ply using the export option in the bottom right. Hope it helps you. Otherwise join my discord server. There's plenty of people there including me that can help you!
Hey there! Obj is a 3D format file. A render would be an image format file like PNG or JPEG. If what you want is to open your Magicavoxel scene in another 3D software like blender and have it looking the same, then unfortunately no. It is not possible. You will have to reproduce the look of your Magicavoxel scene in your 3d software of choice. If what you want is to save an image from Magicavoxel then just click the little camera icon on the bottom left and it will keep your lighting effects. Hope that helps you!
When you are in render mode you will notice some icons on the bottom left. One of those will turn the ground plane on. Let me know if you don't find it (:
Hey! Which characters? You mean like in my profile picture? If so, what I do is export the geometry from magicavoxel separated into pieces and then I pose them using Maya. There's a video explaining this a bit on my instagram if you want to check it out! @SynthHunters

Sorry about the sound being a bit broken. Will fix that for the next video!

Hello. This is very helpful.
I have a question, when I go to render, I can only see a part of my entire piece. Do you know how can I set it right?

Amazing
Very helpful guy, thank you so much:D

How to bloom many colors for example yellow and red?
Hey! Just add emmisive material to it and it should glow. Sorry if I didn't understand your question!
Great video
Thank you! :D
Um hey can i do this on my 4year old hp laptop? Or do i need graphic card and will my laptop be fried?
You should definitively be able to do it if your laptop is still working properly! (:
it must be finished with rendering before i can take a picture?
The picture will show what you have on screen. So take it when you are happy with the look you have (:
Dude i was just seeing your suff on reddit lol
Haha I'm all over the place

@@SynthHunters Hola! Sí gracias, era eso jjajajaja

Any one know how to export magicavoxel model for 3ds max or maya? I export as a obj but when I open that in Maya no any texture
Your textures will be saved as a PNG file along with your obj export. Just create a material and add that PNG on the base color. Hope that helps you!
