I ended up getting a ryzen 7 7700x and a 7900xt. I was thinking about spending the extra $200 and going with the xtx, but by time I was comfortable pulling the trigger on it they were all sold out. I’m not too upset though as I hear the 7900xt is still a beast of a card and with the extra savings I got from the discounts on the cpu and gpu I was able to get a pretty good 1440p monitor. It will fun to experience going from 1080p to 1440p for the first time!
@@Endymion429I don’t see the upgrade, many video’s state that it makes no difference. Only visually, where the difference is meaningless to me personally.
Ended up snagging a b580. First complete new build (minus keyboard, mouse, monitor) all at $1000. My goal was to only (hopefully) need to upgrade my gpu in the next few years.
Picked up the 7900xt, and it was just delivered today. With that, my first PC is ready to be built! (And it was almost exactly 1500) Don't really care about RT, so glad it's still recommended!
@@livelife5763 max gpu utilisation is a good thing, you want the gpu to be the limiting factor not the cpu or anything else. And as for temps it depends if that bothers you or not, and if it does is it worth buying a whole new gpu? in most cases probably not
good to see you recommending the rx 6800 after i just bought it. Managed to get it for £275 new, which I think is a very good deal considering it usually goes for £350 here in the Uk
@MoII260 occasionally ebay gives 20% off discount codes for certain verified sellers on ebay. i used one of those to get a new rx 6800 from Ebuyer that was originally £350. Quite a nice trick that i use to buy lots of items- ebay gives away discount codes quite frequently
Thanks for helping me out on the CPU, RAM and Motherboard video with picking the GPU, this will be my first build and you have helped me a ton. Thanks again.
Just get my full pc, following your good recommendations. R5 7500f, asrock b650 steel legend, gskill ddr5 6400mhz cl32, Sapphire rx 7800 xt. Well done! Also the tariffs, maybe hit hard next year
I bought mine in april or so. I suck at physical objects so I got a company to build it and ship it out. Got the MSI Ventus 2X OC 4070ti Super, I7 13700k, 240L RGB liquid cooler,, 32gigs of RGB ddr5-6000 ram, Samsung 980 pro 2tb NVME with a 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue 1tb 7200rpm disk drive as extra storage for cheap (it was like $15 on clearance), EVGA 1000w 80+gold psu, bunch of fans, Lian Li case, metal frontplate mechanical rgb keyboard, RGB MSI headset, nice mousepad, and some crappy speakers for $2200 after taxes and shipping. Still not a bad deal imo.
I built a PC about a year and a half ago (7800X3D/7900XTX combo) not knowing much about resolutions and anything. Long story short I bought a PC that is way too powerful for what I do (Gaming at 1440p). I appreciate channels like yours. This won't happen again lol. I'm tempted to buy a 4k monitor but at the same time I feel like it could gimp my experience in 1st person shooters. They are also quite expensive to lose FPS on top of it... Thoughts?
I see ur "problem" but in fact u did the best combo, ur losing way too much FPS in 4k and even tho a 4k monitor is very nice it's not that much of a difference compared to staying in 1440p but get a oled monitor. U'll still have very high fps while also having a way nicer experience. I got a 9900x paired with a 7900xtx taichi with a msi mag 271qpx oled e2 and it's perfect if ur looking for the best of two world.
Thanks for your response. Nice monitor you got there :). I have a 240 hz but not Oled... I'll buy one and give it a shot. I have to see the difference.
Just ordered all my parts using your $1000 build guide yesterday. Only thing I changed was the nvme(I went 2tb). Went with the rx 6800 after watching benchmarks on it, looks like a beast of a card!
missed out on the BF/CM/XMAS deals but still managed to get a 7900xtx for under 900, last check they are up to 1100 now. just need to get my tax return and i can finish shopping and build a dream machine. :D
I feel so stuck. I've been on an RX580 4gb since 2019 (bought for $130 then) and couldn't justify upgrading at all. The 7800xt is $850 in my country. The cheaper cards are just 4060s for upwards of $650. The 4070 TI Super is $1400 and the 4080 super is $1700 while the 4090 is $2900. I'm building a PC in April with a budget of $5000 and i don't feel comfortable building it at all with the price gouging here. I'm actually just thinking of importing cause this is ridiculous.
@@Justin-lu1zg Yeah i get you dude. I need a placeholder GPU now cause in the span of a month my 580 started crashing every other boot. Have to reinstall drivers regularly to even try to run it.
got very lucky with a Best Buy open box for a gigabyte 4070 ti super gaming oc for $700 back in june, and it works just fine. Crazy to see 4070 ti super's has not reached the flat $700 for black friday/cyber monday 5 months later
Got a 2nd hand white 4070ti S Back to the Future (wire-less) edition for just about 760$. Really happy about that purchase. Now i just need to wait for the 300$ MOBO that you're forced to pair it with 😅
Spot on with the 6800. Got it not too long ago and It’s the perfect price to performance GPU for 1440p and light 4K like you said. Don’t see an upgrade for a while
I would like to hope one day we return to the actual budget gpus like my first gtx 1050 that lastad about 6-7 years when it started struggling, nowadays even the used market is dogshit and sells gpus that are 5 years old with like 10% less price than they were brand new, but now those cards unawailable brand new. Such a joke really
damn, whenever I see these kinds of videos it makes me wanna cry, I live in Uruguay and here everything is egregiously taxed. I got myself a brand new PC today for 1440 USD and I got a ryzen 5 7600X and an RX7600XT (which cost 590 DOLLARS!!!!). i am very happy because overall it’s a very nice mid-level pc that should be about 5 years future-proof, but still, it pains me so much that in the US you could build my PC for basically half the price if you try hard enough. great video tho, cheers
I just ended up buying a 4080 super. My thought process was that Nvidia is probably gonna give 5080 a 20-25% boost over a 4080 super and they will keep a 5080 at $1300 to start and given the fact that we get tariffs soon, price could be even higher. and for a 20-25 performance boost I didn't feel like it was much. On comparing the 4070 TI-S with 4080 S. Price for both was the same on new egg and on bestbuy (I am in Canada so I got 4080S for USD 930 Including taxes). So it was a no brainer to get a 4080S. Comparing it with 7900XTX, XTX has a higher V-Ram and it was definitely tempting, even thou I am not someone who is particular about Raytracing, most benchmarks were showing 4080 S way above 7900XTX. I am paring up my 4080S with a Core i9 14900KF and a 64gb 6000 DDR5 Team Force Ram with a 1000 watt cooler... It's a gamble, and I hope to be future proof for gaming and light video stuff - Let's see how it goes.
7900XT is around €750-1k IF you can find it in stock while the 7900GRE (which I bought at the start of DEC) is at €600. Waiting for 8000 would have been practically pointless because of the markup pc parts get in Europe. I'm happy with my 7700x 7900GRE build
I bought the Sapphire Nitro+ 7900xtx after building my gaming pc back in 2021. I’m pretty happy with it, such an upgrade from a used RX 580 😅 I’m hoping to spend the next 4-5 years with it. Currently, I’m on 2K gaming, and planning to move to 4k in near future.
I bought a ryzen 4070 a few weeks ago. It is a great card for any price range. It easily plays games with ultra and ray traced settings at 16k with ease.
I found a good deal on a high end GPU so I went ahead and bought it. The chances the GPU market is drastically better in a few months is not likely imo.
what's nice is that the 7900xt has 2 8-pin power connectors, which even older PSUs have natively. Go to nvidia at same level and above and you need an adapter for older power supplies as it uses the newer ATX spec with new power connectors.
Ive been on the fence on if I should have bought the 7800xt or not but you convinced me that it might not be that bad of an idea. I also took into consideration that it was 140 USD less than the normal price here in Sweden and I dont see any of the new cards even coming close to the price to performance that this deal offered at 1440p. I hope I wont come to regret this now lmao
Im waiting for my powercolor hellhound sakura 7800XT to arriveeeee but they need to parachute that shit to my house otherwise im gonna go crazy. Its supposed to get to my house between dec 10-17

Bought my 7900xtx red devil begining of 2024 when amazon had them for $900 and its still kickin. Running stalker 2 flawlessly. Came from a 4070FE which is now in my gfs rig. I just couldn't justify the price of a 4090 at the time and still cant.
I got the XFX Speedster 7900 XT for $619 which was a hella sale, just came in the male and I'm excited to take an evening to uninstall my NVIDIA drivers powering my 3060 to replace it with a beast of a card as the 7900 XT. I also already have a 7800X3D so my CPU will be more than enough for the card.
Ended up grabbing the Acer Nitro 7900 GRE from Newegg for $480. Seemed like a pretty good deal even though it's one of the lower end AIBs. Crossing my fingers it does well and lasts a while! 🤞
About to make a buuld with a RX 7800XT in about a week, i might miss the 50 dollar sale so ill grab the 7900 GRE if its on sale or available, but probably still gonna stick with a 7800XT regardless 👍🏻👍🏻
My intentions are to build a budget content creating PC. I already purchased the AMD 7-5700x & MSi Pro 550m VC. I purchased them without much knowledge, should I try returning them or keep them with a budget in mind. These parts were my plan to build. Please help, what should I do differently? Price in mind, thanks.
It would be nice if u went over some performance numbers... i wanna know the difference between them, not just the price tag. now i have to watch a different video that has more detail about about them.
Just built a new PC with a 7600x3d and 7800xt. Paid $450 for the GPU so it wasn’t a steal but rather overpay a little overpay than get screwed over by tariffs
I got the XFX MERC 310 7900XTX for 815$, really happy with this price ( just hope it will arrive without any problems). The price difference would be really high between the 815$ I paid for a 7900xtx and a 5070, especially after increased tariffs and late availability and I don't think the performance upgrade would be worth that price. Yes, 50xx would be at pcie 5.0, BUT, they won't get anywhere near the top speeds as they would want to leave themselves some room for future generations.
I have 7500f for cpu, should I get RX 6800 for $310, or RX 6800 XT for $360? Want to game to mostly 1440p and 4k if possible. Have a 4k 60hz monitor. Thanks!
Afaik the msi ventus version with Gddr6x was having temp issues that were "fixed" on on the E1 version that has GDDR6. Went with the one that has GDDR6 because it is still pretty much overkill for the type of games I play.
I gave you a lot of flack (some of which I still feels is deserved) for your gpu sales predictions. (The sales sucked 😢) However, I picked up a 7900xtx for $820 (was looking at 4080s but there were no deals and I couldn’t justify the +$300) in part due to your advice so I gotta give you credit for that. Some thoughts about the 6800 that I haven’t seen people talking about: I’ve seen a lot of people complain about high power usage (up to 400W! 😳) so might require up to $100+ for a beefier PSU that negates the savings compared to the 7700xt. In an upgrade scenario where you already have a PSU that can handle it I’d agree that the 6800 is probably a better deal, but when building from scratch I’d consider a total system cost and not just the GPU price
Looking to make a purchase based on the local deals I can get. What would you recommend for 1080p 240Hz game play - 6750XT - $285 or 6800 - $348. Appreciate your feedback and advice. Mostly Fortnite and Valorant game play for now and Ghost of Tabor on Quest 2 in PCVR with USB Cable. It will be paired with a i9-12900K in my system. Also I will most likely have to upgrade my PSU as I have a 650W 80+ Bronze currently. Thank you for all your help and love your videos!
i’m looking to upgrade my 5700xt for around under $400, i’ve been looking at 6800 any other good options ? ( ps: my mobo doesn’t have enough pice for 5700xt and above btw)
what do you think about the tariffs coming in? i’m thinking of buying a gpu before all the prices go up. originally i wanted to wait for the 5000 series but you can never buy it for the first couple months anyway because it’s either over priced or out of stock.
Hi Scrattervolt, I have waited for half a year to buy a pc, and now am I am finaly buying it. But I am chosing between a 7500f and a 7600x, both on aliexpress, what should I chose? love your content btw

Personally if you were only doing 1440p and werent gonna do 4K gaming I dont think you missed out on much
@@Endymion429I don’t see the upgrade, many video’s state that it makes no difference. Only visually, where the difference is meaningless to me personally.
You explained it really well for me someone who only knows the basics of gpus, thanks a lot man!
Great card! What's your CPU?
@@mr.obvious92467700x. I wanted to get more cores than the 7600x since I'll use it for more than just gaming.
I got a 4080 Super a few months back for MSRP on the dot. Chillin' tbh no matter what happens. Love your videos.
Knabbed the Red Devil 7900XTX for $840. Can't wait for it to come in!
Same here, cant wait. :)
From Amazon? Any idea when it’s shipping? 😶
@@nikhilnischay3955 There's a little longer wait for it. Says Arriving Dec 17-28
I have a perfectly fine GPU, but all these sales are so tempting ngl
Don't fall for it save your money until you're not happy with the performance you're getting anymore
@@justmatt2655 What if the performance youre getting is good but your GPU utilization is always maxed and temps hover around 90c?
@@livelife5763 max gpu utilisation is a good thing, you want the gpu to be the limiting factor not the cpu or anything else. And as for temps it depends if that bothers you or not, and if it does is it worth buying a whole new gpu? in most cases probably not
Been waiting for this video! Marc is cooking as always🗣️🗣️
good to see you recommending the rx 6800 after i just bought it. Managed to get it for £275 new, which I think is a very good deal considering it usually goes for £350 here in the Uk
Well done
holyy where can i find such a deal omg
@MoII260 occasionally ebay gives 20% off discount codes for certain verified sellers on ebay. i used one of those to get a new rx 6800 from Ebuyer that was originally £350. Quite a nice trick that i use to buy lots of items- ebay gives away discount codes quite frequently
Thanks for helping me out on the CPU, RAM and Motherboard video with picking the GPU, this will be my first build and you have helped me a ton. Thanks again.
My pleasure!
Just get my full pc, following your good recommendations. R5 7500f, asrock b650 steel legend, gskill ddr5 6400mhz cl32, Sapphire rx 7800 xt. Well done!
Also the tariffs, maybe hit hard next year
Know I’m a bit late, but wasn’t able to buy a graphics card until now. Got a 7900xt for $640 and felt that was a pretty good deal.
I did already get a GPU and thanks to you I built my dream PC, but Im never going to skip a SV upload.
Just bought the ASUS TUF 4070ti Super. Couldnt be happier!
missed out on the BF/CM/XMAS deals but still managed to get a 7900xtx for under 900, last check they are up to 1100 now. just need to get my tax return and i can finish shopping and build a dream machine.
Tell me about it. A sapphire 7600xt in my country is selling for 400usd...
Yeah it's even more surprising that ppl are still listing used ones at msrp
Got a 2nd hand white 4070ti S Back to the Future (wire-less) edition for just about 760$. Really happy about that purchase. Now i just need to wait for the 300$ MOBO that you're forced to pair it with 😅
One of my favorite tech RUclipsrs to watch
Thanks Mason
Spot on with the 6800. Got it not too long ago and It’s the perfect price to performance GPU for 1440p and light 4K like you said. Don’t see an upgrade for a while
Real fans already watched this video hours ago!
Lol
I’m what’s this video like three times lol
Great video as always, bud.
Just bought my first GPU - entry-level because I’m an intern - can’t wait to test it out!
I got a 4070ti super and ryzen 7 7800x3d for 1430 on Black Friday good deal or wait for better for new cpu/gpu
Great guide!
Bro, the 4070 super is £550 in the UK, and the 4060 Ti 16GB starts at £399.98. And I didn't even look that hard, I just opened a Scan Computers store.
7900XT is around €750-1k IF you can find it in stock while the 7900GRE (which I bought at the start of DEC) is at €600. Waiting for 8000 would have been practically pointless because of the markup pc parts get in Europe. I'm happy with my 7700x 7900GRE build
I was lucky and got the 7900xtx black edition from xfx for $819 and the 9800x3d from microcenter for $479
Sneeze! You scored!
Grat vid, great breakdown ,no waffle saved me a lot of time thanks!
I got my 4070 ti super for 739.99 during black friday. I paid extra and got it in 3 days. This card is amazing
I’m going to build a pc for around $1500. What gpu and cpus are worth looking at? Or should I wait for the new stuff coming out in January/February?
I bought a ryzen 4070 a few weeks ago. It is a great card for any price range. It easily plays games with ultra and ray traced settings at 16k with ease.
I just found a local microcenter with an open box 7900xt for $612. Think I did good.
Brother, how many gpu videos are you gonna put out in a week?
Well, battlemage is unveiled tomorrow soooo
I found a good deal on a high end GPU so I went ahead and bought it. The chances the GPU market is drastically better in a few months is not likely imo.
Very true
well done dude
Just a little while back I got a 7800xt for about $350 & a 7900xt for about $550. Both were great buys.
buying two years old GPUs are usually the way to go. Those have been tested reviewed and pricing is like half of what it used to be.
what's nice is that the 7900xt has 2 8-pin power connectors, which even older PSUs have natively. Go to nvidia at same level and above and you need an adapter for older power supplies as it uses the newer ATX spec with new power connectors.
True, but adapters come in the box with those Nvidia GPUs to be sure
Thank you, ScatterVolt! I love these informative videos :D
Thank you for watching Solarity!
@@BeavisVolg I ordered mine yesterday and its supposed to come in 2 days. Im pretty excited to upgarde my 6650xt into a 7800xt. Even though I just bought this pc exactly one year ago.

Australian market differs so much in price. I so wish we had Micro Center like stores with a passion for the home tech and enthusiast market.
Bought 7600xt for $280 on the 1st day of black friday, waiting for it🔥🤞🏼
I’ve bought RTX 4070 Super, and I am happy with it. My previous one was GTX 1070
About to make a buuld with a RX 7800XT in about a week, i might miss the 50 dollar sale so ill grab the 7900 GRE if its on sale or available, but probably still gonna stick with a 7800XT regardless 👍🏻👍🏻
Go for gold. $480 7900 GRE while you can.
Snagged a RX 7900 XT Hellhound for $619 at Micro Center. Gonna build it today ✌️
Good deal
I picked up an RX 7900XT for slightly under 700. Never used sapphire GPUs before so hope it works well.
Incredibly excited for my 4070 ti super. I was using a 3060 Ti and it just wasn’t cutting it for 1440p in all the games I wanted
It's good
It would be nice if u went over some performance numbers... i wanna know the difference between them, not just the price tag. now i have to watch a different video that has more detail about about them.
Just built a new PC with a 7600x3d and 7800xt. Paid $450 for the GPU so it wasn’t a steal but rather overpay a little overpay than get screwed over by tariffs
The 7800XT at $450 is a steal
Upgraded to the AORUS 4070 Super for 1080p 138fps gaming on max settings, well worth the money and 12gb is more than enough for any game
A friend built me a pc recently with a 4060ti and ryzen 5 5500 and ive been watching your vids recently and its makijg me cry lmao
Lol
Oh i just bought 7900xtx taichi yesterday then this video dropped lmao.

Got myself a 7900xtx hellhound for, including tax. $808. So far, I'm happy with my purchase.
I wouldn't be surprised if 8800xt? Is in between 78-7900xt in rasterisation and of course better in RT.
Does it cost more than $650 doe?
Building my first computer!!! this video helped me a lot with finding a gpu I am split between which to buy, the 3060ti or the rx7600xt.
In an upgrade scenario where you already have a PSU that can handle it I’d agree that the 6800 is probably a better deal, but when building from scratch I’d consider a total system cost and not just the GPU price
vram of 4070 ti super will be enough for the next years? if yes how long?
I was going to get the 8800xt, but decided to get the 7800xt due to potential tariffs. It’s plenty for 1440p ultra wide gaming.
Intel GPUs are great budget options currently. I'm excited for battlemage.
Their announcement is tomorrow!
what do you think about the tariffs coming in? i’m thinking of buying a gpu before all the prices go up. originally i wanted to wait for the 5000 series but you can never buy it for the first couple months anyway because it’s either over priced or out of stock.
Not good *if* they pass
Rtx 4070 super gigabyte gaming or msi gaming x slim (size is not a problem) which has better cooling and performance and overall better?
bought 7900 xtx red devil tariffs are a big issue spent 1000 because it was a special version but happy lol
