  • Broadcast 9 May 2001 with the choir of Lichfield Cathedral directed by Andrew Lumsden and assistant organist, Robert Sharpe.
    The outstanding treble soloist in 'Blessed Be' was the cathedral's Head Chorister, David Shipley, whose father, Canon Stephen Shipley, was producer of BBC Choral Evensong until his retirement in 2019. David Shipley is now a professional bass singer.

    Absolutely stunning rendition of SS Wesley's "Blessed be the Father" at 38:46. One of the best I've heard. So clear and pure.
