  • Drying is also VERY important in the CART Rejuvenation process.
    Don't properly dry that inner sponge and the ink you refill with will not migrate correctly and properly saturate the newly flushed sponge!
    This can result in poor ink flow and possible damage to the print head.
    Luckily it is very easy to correctly dry a cart sponge to accept ink the proper way.
    There are many methods. Some quite sophisticated but this is case where the simplest way is the best way!

    Jose, thanks for all your time and videos. Finally cycling 3 sets of OEM carts with PC inks with excellent results. One thing that really worked great for me for drying was a seeding mat. They plug in and are used for starting seedlings. I basically wick away the moisture from the sponge and that takes 1 day on the mat, then just flip them every 12 hours or so for 2 extra days. All under 13.6 in 72 hours. Did that with 3 sets and worked perfectly. So if anyone already owns one of those they work great. Can be bought for peanuts on amazon.

      A food dehydrator dries them overnight.

    Jose, you are a genius! I just filled my first set and followed your instructions carefully. All VERY good. Thank you.

    You could also use a small fan to blow onto the wicking towel to keep the water evaporating off the towel so it won't be saturated

    Thanks for the great videos Jose. I think it worthwhile to let people know that I tried the passive drying method (no paper towel, just leaving on a windowsill) and not only did the cartridges not dry after FOUR WEEKS, they actually started to get mold in the sponges. This totally ruined the cartridges and I had to throw them away. So passive does not work and may actually end up ruining your carts. :(

      Then you have either dirty water or air with floating mold spores. I've never had that happen to me.

      @@cheo1949 thanks Jose yes it might be that....I left them on the bathroom windowsill for the first few days so the air in the bathroom might have been damp plus people using the shower every day, probably didn't help

    Mr. Rodriguez:
    Please, can you tell me where I can get the small attachment that goes on the bottom of the clip to which you attach the syringe during the cartridge flush? Thank you.

    How much should an empty XL cart weigh? (I'm using 280s)

    It’s been almost 2 weeks and all my carts are around 19.5G. I’ve used the paper towel method and placed them in front of a heater fan 3 nights and they never budged. What am I doing wrong?

    Hey friend what do you think about giving the cartridge an initial dry with some spray compressed air? I've done it just on a CLI-6 cartridge and it worked fine :)

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  8 лет назад +1

      That will work. I said there were many methods. I saw someone use a shop vac in reverse with a piece of white close rubber banded to cover the end of the vacuum hose. They pressed it against the fill hole so it would blow air into the cart! I prefer doing it the easy way wicking away moisture till th CLI-42 cart reaches a dry weight of 14 grams or less. It only takes a day or so. I am not in a hurry!

    • @PaoloMarcelli
      @PaoloMarcelli 8 лет назад

      Yes I prefer doing that too expecially when I have just a few carts, I usually do that for the other desktop printers like the ones which have the CLI-8, CLI-520 ecc :)

      Me too. I only do a few at a time as needed. Currently or precisioncolors is doing over 500 modifications and flushings on a load of canon carts they will be offering as part of a new kit offering!! I would not be envious of that job!

    Jose - would it be harmful to use low volume (2-3psi) of compressed air (connected to the fill hole) to assist and shorten drying time? Something like an air brush pump w/regulator coming from very low humidity warm air supply? The flush method w/ syringe uses considerably more than 3 psi. Just a thought that crossed my mind. What-da-ya-think? ALSO, what is the very latest on the Yellow tank? Flush with WIndex / amonia, or use different color cart or go to the 6 and switch chips. It's quite confusing between PrecisionColor and others that maintain proper flush will do fine??

      @cheo1949  7 лет назад

      Yes that would help . Some folk use vacuum but I see nothing wrong with doing what you suggest,.
      You can use a separate cart if you do not want the hassle of flushing out the QEM yellow. I don't mind the extra work involved and enjoy the feeling of having conquered the system.

    What about sticking them in a dehydrator?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  4 года назад

      That will definitely work as well. How long will it take? Only experimentation will show that.

    Hi Jo, What should the weight be of a "Full" cart of ink ?
    Love your videos buddy your the man !! Many Thanks !

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  7 лет назад

      About 27ml give or take! I will weigh a brand new full one and get back later. But empty dry it's about 14 and you get about 13 ml of ink in.

  • @ArtOfD

    Anybody know what happens if I don't completely dry the cart ? Will it break the printer or is it just print quality issue?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  5 лет назад

      Ink will not permeate the sponge. And that is not good.
