Thank you for your videos Nicholas, they've really helped me quite a bit!! I'm having issues getting the trunking operation going on my bct15x... I'm learning thanks to you, but a bit slower, lol... Thanks again!!
Thank you for you showing how to program BCT15X it help me a lot. I have older trunk scanner they where easy but this new one like you said no manual. Thank you.
Hello Nicholas,,I know these videos have been up for awhile,,But finally got into programing the Trunks in my area MANUALLY,,,,,,Which made me rip out my hair for a bit,,LOL.....Thnx for the video it was a HUGE help,,,Happy Listening
You are so right thanks for a really good brake down it helps a lot thanks
The Vacaville/Fairfield system in Solano. Nice!
Great informative video. Awesome.
Can you do one on EDACS programming. I’m having a hell of a time figuring this out
Very nice briefing great information. I am still struggling and need more detail. How can I get more help with MOT SN II programming?
I know this is a year old, but I'm hoping you can still help me out. This video is a HUGE help. But after I get to Ban Plan and set it the next thing comes up asking me to chose "+Polarity or -Polarity" how do I know what to pick?
Excellent Job.
I have the BC785D and for +20 Years it has been working Even after I accidently Broke the Volume Knob --- it still works. On Ebay the $price is Way Too Much. I bought mine from Ham Radio Outlet from Used sales.
Thank Mr. Sparks. I just needed to watch your vid, while cross reference radioreference, while programming my scanner. Do you have any pointers on good antennas for big trucks that will not draw attention?
Todd Lane I use the TRAM 1199 glass mount all band antenna they are $19 on Amazon and work very well. Make sure you get one with a BNC connector. If you go on Amazon and search "all band antenna" it should be the first one listed.
My 2006 BCT 15 came with a nice manual/book
Hey, can't get my scanner to read my state... keeps reading Alabama. How can I change that? Also I noticed with my other scanner the Bearcat BC 245 XLT that if I have both on at the same time one picks certain channels up that the other one isn't and then vice versa. Is that just because the one can't scan as fast as a different one? Or the delay on the 15x needs to change? Still love my bc245 xlt. Keep them both on off duty all day and night lol.
Puppies World I only have experience with the 15x. To select your state press the function knob the immediately after press the volume knob. The state list should come up. Select your state then press enter.
Good video. Thanks!
You must be scanning Marlboro County...LOL
setting an offset to 440..+ or - ??
Why do you need two band plans?
Trying to program a Motorola trbo system and it’s 400 mhz. Having a hard time. I was all in with your vid until program 800 mhz. Can ya help?
Hey, what's the best antenna to use for this?
Nicholas I just tried programming my new BCT15X scanner while watching your video step by step. I entered everything correctly but when I tried to listen to it I got no hits on the channels or groups I had programmed into it. I had my old scanner hooked up and listening when I activated my new BCT15X but I did not hear anything that was coming over my old scanner. My other question would be do I need to enter the analog channels in also in order for my new scanner to work?
You have to program in "conventional system " for the older systems like in the 150mhz range. Motorola is only for trunked systems.
When I go to set my base frequencies it says out of band what does that mean?
Can you explain to me how to set this up on a Uniden HomePatrol 2? I have all the tower locations and info needed just need to know how to do it.
Home patrol...just go to set location, enter zip code and listen...all systems in the zip area.
scroll through the systems until you find the one you want to monitor...this is done on the main screen (Prev. or Next) use the touch screen to lock on to your group.
don't forget to download the Home Patrol programming app.
go to google and look up home patrol sentinel and download for free.
Is that band plan universal for all 800mHz systems? If not, how do I figure out my band plan? I have it all set up in Freescan, since I don't have my scanner yet, but I wanted to set it all up so that I can just upload it when it comes.
i believe so yes
The radio does come with a manual, it is on the disc you get in the box but bothered not to use.
I have bearcat 346xt. They are very similar in programming. With mine you only need to input "control" freqs, but not every freq. Have you tried doing that? I am considering getting the 15x. Good video.
Jack Thoreson I haven't tried that I just followed the steps on marks scanners.com and thus is what they say to do
Your town uses smartnet my town they use smartzone do you know how to set up a smartzone system?
Flat Earth Reset I have no experience with that type sorry.
Can you do me a favor? I'm going to set up a BCT15X for a person in Snohomish County, Marysville Washington. Can you take a look and tell me if I have to set up the band plan for it like you did in this video? I have never done that when I had my BCT15X I just put in the 800 trunking system and it seem to work just fine
thanks for the help
software it way easy then using the keys. You need a PC, computer cable, mine did not come with one.
@ Can you tell me what your firmware version you are using looking at the Uniden web sight it says it has the current version. I'm hoping they do,and I hope they have the computer cable for it
Trunk is only 800 mhz
@ Ok,thanks for the reply he is a older person, and I want everything to go smooth for him I'm going over tomorrow, depending on the snow in the Everett Washington area
Dont forget to turn off search put on scan if not it will keep search all the frequencies
Anyone help me I followed the video to the letter and I still can't hear my local Roseville police CA
If i pay the $70 provoice 1 country programming fee from uniden must i still have to do this?
I've never done that option so I'm not sure.
Is this compatible with Motorola P25 Phase II systems?
Im not sure I only have experience with the Motorola 800 and regular conventional systems.
my bct15x scanner just got into FMB mode and I can't figure out how to get it out and back to scanning my channels Can you help ???
I'm not familiar with fmb mode
well crap.. one of them just all of a sudden started with no audio out of speaker or head phone jack.. did a full reset and then re-cloned it but it didnt help anything.. ever had anything like that happen ??
went through through the steps and I dont have a step to edit band plan and cant get quick key to show up on the screen
then a step wasn't done correctly. if you follow each step the exact way shown her there should be no issues.
What polarity for offset?
iceman27406 I just left them at positive
I DID EVERYTHING YOU SUGGESTED AND MY SCANNER STILL SAYS NOTHING TO SCAN IN SCAN MODE . WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? PLEASE HELP I AM ABOUT TO GET PISSED OFF ! LOL !
hehe cigarette scanner stand :3
Following the programming to the letter off Video but still cannot get anything.....Not working.
my friends scanner did the same thing. check firmware. try and scan FM frequencies in the menu and if you're still not picking anything up then there's something wrong with the receiver.
also just making sure you watched part 2 to enter talk group ID's? won't work without them.
Why not just buy/use the GPS?
Todd Lane the GPS isn't reliable and it won't let you operate the scanner the way you see here. Programming really isn't that hard. Plus I believe the GPS just uses a wide range of frequencies used by the entire area. You won't know who you're listening to.
Thanks. I just started working with this one. I hope you would be willing to answer any Qs that I may soon have?
full audio and STILL can hardly hear this video.
yeah sorry about that I'm not sure what happened my phone was only like a foot away. phone case may be covering mic.
+Nicholas Sparks s'ok, thanks to the wonders of HDMI i watched it on my big TV with plenty of volume lol, great vids but still having problems programming trunking, where to find local frequencies (Shrewsbury, England) is the biggie right now. Radioreference has none for my area.
+M1BCM UKSCANNING.CO.UKAmazing upto date frequencies
Poor audio
Why do ppl have to bullshit and talk alot.
MARKSSCANNER DON'T HELP MUCH EITHER.
Audio almost inaudible
