I don’t get how in the same generation of new parents we have the group that lets the kids run, practice karate and scream with iPads at the restaurant and don’t say a word, and then we have the people that sob and immediately fold when they ask the kid to do anything and see so much as a snivel.
An infants brain lacks something called myelin, a protective fatty sheath. So the cellphones and iPads WILL radiate their brain. Then to compound the problem, most people are still afraid of the sun. It's sad how many kids never had a chance to be healthy thanks to their low dopamine parents.
Sometimes my wife gives me crap about being a Star Wars/Comic Book geek, and have to point out if it wasn’t for geeks she wouldn’t be fiddling around on her iPhone posting pictures on IG, FB, Snap Chat, etc!
Funny growing up, my dad would hit the roof if he saw me reading a comic book or MAD magazine. Because I read them so much, I would always ace my spelling/comprehension tests. My dad would tell my mom, see, it's the discipline, I was like nope, its "the usual gang of idiots" at MAD.
So true about head start and pre school , I'm a dumb old fart who didn't even go to kindergarten and when I have a conversation with someone in their 30s who doesn't know shit I'm glad I'm glad I didn't do pre-school, this nations test scores show how these experts on education are full of shit
Well, I think it's good in the current context (in the US, I mean.. I live somewhere where it's more like when I was a kid in the '80s). Now, like, they don't have extended families, cousins, etc. around, they arent allowed to play outside like feral kids with all their friends (lol, just "play dates). So, where we were running around and socializing on our own or with like half a dozen or more cousins, so that was our socialization, these kids have had that all taken away from them, so they actually need preschool at a substitute for that or they'd turn out even worse.
Man, dinner invite to a couple at a restau, I gotta go split on that if you're of the same economic range and can all afford said restau. I would only pick up the whole tab if it was me and the wife used to eating at a comparatively expensive place for a poorer or younger couple who normally couldn't afford it. But if you're my buddy at work and we both make more or less the same cash, eat at the same type of places, we can all just pay for ourselves.
