    The reflections on the PSP footage makes the game alot more better looking. It's crazy how they were able to pull something like that off. The PS2 still beats it when it comes to draw distance.

      I think they were originally planning for the ps2 to have good reflections but due to the hardware limitations they didn’t put it in

      But actually when playing in UMD PSP version's loading time is astrocious, it also suffers from heavy frameloss.

      also the rain effect is amazing in midnight club 3 for a psp getting to the limit with this game
      i want to play so much with my favorite cars and is much better than the need for speed psp games

    • @inkursion5868
      @inkursion5868 Год назад +6

      Those aren't actually reflections. The game projects what's IN FRONT OF the car onto its surface, that's why you can see objects that are ahead of you in car's back which shouldn't be possible. It's a neat effect until you notice this.
      P. S. this effect is tied to game's internal resolution, so on an actual psp it was pretty muddy

      Dude? The road looks like it's covered in water on PSP, and it's not raining.... What are you talking about, point me to a real life road that reflects light like that without being wet.

    very impressive port in a time when ports rarely could use similar assets and performance was so different, really well done by teams on both games

    I would use the PS2 version, which has Color Shift, Pearl Paint, Race Editor, and has the Tokyo DLC content (which is the REMIX version)

    The PSP looked like it actually had better contrast at night but a little overexposed during the day. Otherwise pretty identical besides the draw distance obviously. I also prefer the PSP UI, specifically the overhead arrow rather than on the side. Only things missing were some animations, the cop voice lines iirc, and unfortunately the damage models. Other than that, not sure why the PSP version seemed to get a noticeably worse rating than the PS2 version

      @@Kdkjdjewerdnxa excusable, cuz the psp screen is so small that you only look at objects close to you, in which the render distance seems negligible, unlike the ps2 where you connect it to a big screen. Though, I gotta admit the ps2 one feels more immersive

    The only real difference here is the Tokyo map is missing and way it was bonus content for the 2nf time the game released it makes sense the psp dosent have it. Already having every single mission and car is awesome and there is only one type of paint missing on the psp.

    One thing I never noticed as a kid, because I had nothing to compare it to, the God damn street lights and how they blur and beam and make streaks on the screen is absolutely UGLY and terrible. You can see the PSP side does not have that. And it looks much cleaner. Just recently been emulating these games and I thought something was wrong in my settings. Nope. The light poles just make God awful streaks and I'm gonna have to deal with it if I wanna play the "prettier" ps2 version. Why Rockstar?! WHY?!
    Also I always thought the two games. Psp and ps2 were the same. A direct port if you will. You can really see with the side by side that the PSP version, while it's the exact same game is slightly different. I'd really like to know how they got the PSP version so close to the original and so perfect and if they used the PS2 version's code or if they started from scratch because if they started from scratch. They did an amazing job doing a "remake" of sorts.

    • @Victor_2000s
      @Victor_2000s Год назад

      The lights tracers was a common effect used in the early and mid 2000s PS2 games, the PSP version was a directly port from the PS2 version using the same assets, engine and codes, with feel differences to downgrade the graphics, opponent numbers to make the game optimized to the PSP hardware.
