- How on earth do these things even move off the yard under their own power? If I believed the nonsense spouted by one know-all full of B.S. type, I would just sell my British Iron off and get something modern!
Remarkably, the machine covered the 35 mile round trip faultlessly, even though such machines are only good for 20 miles or so, if you believe Mr 'I'm having the last word B.S guy', who so kindly dedicated a fair bit of time to try and wind me up with his comments on the video I have provided a link to!
Anyway, this is the first video of four, showcasing this short round trip ride. I certainly didn't experience anything to suggest this old British machine is 'crap' - did anyone else?
Here is my video regarding British bikes supposedly being 'crap' ...

Hello from New Zealand. Once we discovered Hillman Imp Blue Hylema silicone sealant back in the day, oil leaks became a thing of the past. Owned all sorts of British bikes starting with an old M21 and even that was oil tight and absolutely reliable.
My headmaster father who hated motorcycles even tried to talk me into keeping it when I bought a brand new A65 Lightning.
As they say, you should always listen to your Dad.
I'd enjoy another tour on my old 600cc side valve. I did 20,000 miles on her. Several 1,000 milers along with my 30 mile daily commutes to work. All this on a bike that was already 20 odd years old.
People don't know what they are talking about. T camshafts on my Triumph Tr-6 lasted 40 years. Does that sound like crap? People love to put down the BSA C-15 250 and that means I can buy them for cheap. Paid from $250-$500 each for them. Cheap and cheerful as you Brits say. I have 4 of them now in both street bike and dirt bike versions. I love my Triumph TR25W . And people called it a turd. My mechanic really wants it. People bad mouth URAL yet there are very few for sale and when they are they get bought fast. For such a unreliable bike nobody has any parts bikes either. People talk out their ass . Screw them. Taking my sidecar out later for a birthday 🎂 bimble .l have had my Triumph Tr-6 with a hard tail and magneto for 40 years. Done less work to her than people who have new ones.
I'm just pleased to see an un-gated railway crossing. It can only be a matter of time before it has gates, electronic surveillance, warning lights, a comms system and a drone to watch for transgressions. The bloke who respects it and the British bike he's riding is icing on the cake.
As an ex train driver, it’s the people who use ( misuse) the crossings that force the railway ( ie you and me) to pay for these very expensive upgrades Or the xing gets shut. It’s not big brother forcing these things it’s morons misbehaving
@@highdownmartin thats the rub - we wouldn't need speed cameras if some people controlled themselves, or even cctv. And it's those that lack self control that moan. It's just daft.
Hello from Denmark, I always watch your videos about British motorcycles and enjoy your landscape and narrow roads between old villages and farmhouses. I’m a big fan of BSA’s and have only positive experiences with mine, which I have been driven since 1971 without any mishaps or troubles.
Proper. Such a delightful riding experience: no stirring the box for the right gear, no problems getting round the bends unlike the '60s foreign undamped "competition", pleasant but not intrusive exhaust note. I love it.
G'day Paul, well done that bikes running a treat, weather is doing it's part, l just finished a 100 mile road trip on my Crap 1957 500cc Matchless made in England, and this bike was ridden for the first time in over a year and it never missed a beat, if anyone tells me to my face that my bikes are crap then your going too have a crappy day, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
Holy crap Batman! Old British bikes just keep on coming! "That's coz they were made to be repairable, Robin, not like your iPhone"
That sounds a bit fluffy when its cold before you get her into her srtide, but better than my "modern" triumph (2002) which wont even let you so much as look at the throttle for the first 30 seconds or so after its started!.. It's the first generation Fuel injected engine with a very early ECU which means it re-learns the throttle sensor position every time you start it and spits the dummy out if you try to open the throttle before its done that. Its not realy a problem though as you start it up, then put on your helmet and gloves and by the time you've done that, its ready to go. You just have to remember it does it when you fill up or stop briefly somewhere, other than that its really good!..
I do have to say yours sounds really good!
I love my lighting and covered a good lot of miles but I do not go on motorway as it seems to pound the engine constant speed dose not give the oil chance to be sucked back the bours sorry if yo think it jibberis but it's what my old dad told me good for you Paul keep going
Nice sounding bike sir with lots of character
Loved my SRM A65 such a useable and reliable bike with more than enough power for me
This is my favourite of your "crap" bikes Paul! Hope misfire is sorted, looking forward to next instalment!
I was tempted to ride down to see you on my bit of old british crap until I checked the distance and time and found it was 5 hours each way! 1972 BSA A65L.
sooo relaxing that ride paul engine is brilliant not crap are they NO they are not !!!
Crap that purrs! That engine sounds effortless. Oddly enough, as a crap rider of a crap bike, I'll be sticking to my crap machine too. Looks like a lovely day, I wonder if it will last until you get home.
Beautiful bike. How you get on is just the opposite of getting off.
I have owned a B S A for over 3o years I just love them
Just bought a Harris T140 in bits for €1000, picking it up tomorrow
Lucky you, do they have any more?😂
@@4thinternational283 just the one I’m afraid, head is skimmed badly and needs replacing, wheels are completely rusted, no shocks, no exhaust, no paperwork. I’ll find out more about it when I collect it tomorrow. Bloke says he has a receipt for an engine rebuild…..we’ll see about that…..
What a fabulous sound don't make them like this anymore. Alan Northern Ireland 👍
Looking forward to the banter following this vlog. My avatar is the BSA works in Armoury road today (What's left of it). As the owner of Brit Iron for over 47 years I have to agree they are all crap LOL . A65T 👍
Very pleasant ride nice day for it , looks even better when viewed on the large smart screen . Bike sounding well & plodding along sweet as a nut . 👍
I guess I fall in the camp of owning crappy bikes . Looks like a great day for a ride thanks for taking us along 👍
I have been a huge fan of "British Crap" since being stationed at RAF Lakenheath from 98-01
Giv’em hell Paul. And keep up the good work and informative videos. I enjoy riding all of your bikes vicariously. Cheers, Dan ✌️🏍🇨🇦
I did 500 miles all in, Codsall to Weymouth on my crappy British 250 clipper, only problem I had was the throttle cable nipple pulled off, repaired with a blowtorch side of road, make up my own cables now as their generally not peened over at the nipple
My mate was on his Francis Barnett 250 wreck, only problem he had was plug whiskering due to using engine
Oil instead of 2t oil
How is 2 stroke oil different ? I always wondered that.
2 stroke oil is more refined, engine oil isn't designed to be burned
Sounds clean and happy , set up well , lets see a foregn bike of this age running this well without major money spent on it , ride safe forget the critics , just mechanical incompitents after all.👍😎
Paul your attitude is visible from space
It just needs knee pads. Best looking tank ever. Good news today about your 20mph limit. Apparently it’s just going to be a suggestion.
Yeah, utterly crap, you'd better give it to me for disposal.
That ride looked good for the soul!
She's probably running better now than she every has, nice job, nice bike, would be happy as to have her in my garage??
Well said. Thanks Paul
Nothing "crappy " about a Brit bike. I was a kid when the Japanese invasion took over. I remember seeing a few BSAs around . Cheers.
They forget British bikes were going round tight corners like they were on rails when Japanese bike couldn't manage a gentle bend without wagging it's tail end like an excited puppy!!! fIRST KAWASAKI BIG TWIN WAS A COPY OF THE A10 ENGINE FFS!!! I know lads who have travelled around Europe AND North America on the same bikes as you are riding now!!!
What a bike, giz a go man!
I might actually get off my arse and ride my crappy old enfield ( watch the prices of old vehicles go through the roof when end ca7 7? kicks in ) people are already getting pissed off with "high tech"
That crappy British motorbike surely is sweet….sounds good…I’d like one just like it….but oh…he were on the wrong side o’ the road…again!…lol
Not crap just old technology when compared to the offerings from Japan in the 60’s and that was the fault of the businessmen and politicians of the time.A shame really when you look at what was being designed by the likes of Val Page et al, evidenced at the National Motorcycle Museum.
Ah, now I see...sarcasm.
I have a crappy Indian bullit 22 years 56000 is it a real one I’m asked don’t know but it’s mine
sounds delightfull
Yes but they are the shirtlifeter of the Biking community
Enjoy your ride on a Bike that sounds like a bike SHOULD SOUND not like a stupid F1 Car
