Surface 3 Issues: Bluetooth and Type cover Keyboard Issues

I've encountered this issue a few times now and I have only had my Surface 3 for 4 days. Why have none of the top tech review sites reported this issue? Or is it just me?

I own an SP3 which I use daily for business and I have some tips for you that you could try. It works for my SP3, not sure it will work on S3 though.
As for BT, you just have to turn BT off in the modern UI (and wait for it before it's really off, so no spinny circle thingie anymore next to the of/off switch) and when it's off turn it on again. Will still take some time though but at least you wont have to reboot your device.
As for your type cover, when it starts to "suck" just disconnect it for at least 15 secs. When you reconnect it again it should work fine again.
Also, thanks for your videos! I love small channels like you run. You cover things people want to know, instead of things people know already like all big channels! :)

MAIcrosoft Thank you, I will test it out. I didn't think to try flight mode on and then off. That might help. I make this videos and reviews because the big guys never mentions things like this or audio jack buzz etc.

MAIcrosoft Haven't had the BT issue for now. The keyboard has stopped working on me, removing it for longer than 15 seconds and reconnecting it it would light up and still not work. Only a reboot fixes the keyboard for me.
Was kind of expecting some tips or solutions.

Thank you. Clearing the keyboard contacts with alcohol and a q-tip worked for us.

He right about the big techs not giving a real review. I have a Surface Pro 3 i7 with frequent over heating, type cover connectivity issues and sleep mode. It is annoying especially due to it's cost. MS got a great idea but quality control issues

Well damn. I have the exact issue with my surface pro, I tried everything too. I restarted, shut down, forced shut down, cleaned the attachments for the keyboard, I looked into the device manager and the bluetooth is just completely gone! What's weird is that the keyboard lights up but can't type or use the mousepad, just like yours. This is just getting annoying for me.
Is the same for me too...
@@victorfranconerene3110 damm that sucks! I wish I could help, but I couldn't find a solution. I could say that you can use it as a tablet and get a new laptop? That's what I did.

@@JocyChick I understand! It was real a pain in the neck. I feel like there's really nothing you can do. The only thing I can recommend is getting a new laptop, and make sure it's not a surface device. I've noticed that all surface devices are just not that good at all. Or if you do find a solution pls let me know!
@@m0nsterD0ll Yeah, Surface devices have a lot of problems. I personally wouldn't recommend getting one. My girlfriend ended up helping me out and the solution she gave me worked! I'll leave the steps below so you can try it yourself.
1. Be sure to have a valid internet connection.
2. Open the Properties of "Surface Type Cover" and select the Hardware tab.
3. From there, open the properties of each associated device. Uninstall each one and delete the drivers when given the option.
4. After they're uninstalled, you can close the open windows.
5. Open Device Manager and "Scan for Hardware Changes."
6. Expand the "Firmware" and "Keyboards" groups.
7. Under Firmware, update all drivers with "Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software."
8. Under Keyboards, you should see several "HID Keyboard Device." Perform driver updates (like in Step 7) for each keyboard until the Surface Type Cover is installed.
Reboot won't be necessary, and the keyboard should be working right away. Hope this works! :)
I have the same issue with the keyboard, and I've narrowed it down to the USBxHCI driver - when it loads, it kills the keyboard. If I boot the tablet from a Linux USB key, the keyboard works fine UNTIL I install Linux on the damn thing, and then the same driver issue shows up
I could never fix it and ended up selling it.
@@Techtablets What did you get for it ? Mine has the large dock as well. I've spent way too much time on the damn thing
what about the fixed lens issue. you can't take clear pictures of text in type written documents. type 3 keyboard case does not work if you rotate the whole assembly on its side (working in bed)
Thanks for this brief review. My type cover back-lights Just disappeared and I can't work properly overnight because I need the back-light to see my keyboard clearly. Any help to fix this issue?

I have 2keys not working on backlit type, cover 2 but p and enter key are not working. This is the second type cover I have purchased
My surface 3 keyboard doesn't work.sometimes after attach i use to keep it behind.that time it often work
I have this on multiple machines at work - it's infuriating there's no fix for it. Some solutions online saying disabling fastboot resolves the issue but it doesn't. I don't see how this has been an issue for over 5 years and MS still haven't resolved it.
For me, when trying to connect to my Powerbeats Headset, when I try to pair when on mobile, It says it can't set up while on Metered connection. WTF. haha Have to set up bluetooth with metered connection off, then set up. Then turn on Metered connection and should be ok. But to REconnect the bluetooth device, it may require the same steps.
My Bluetooth keyboard has certain keys that just stop working and it is frustrating since I use it every day for school.
my cover type is not working too... shit happened last day (and i just bought it two day).
kun wei It needs to be address, happened on my Surface Pro 3 and It's still happening to me now and then and it's a pain in the arse. Not even my Chuwi Vi10 has this issue and it's only a cheap $150 2 in 1..

My type cover is in good condition now since I go to the store and change a new one. But now, I have faced another problem, that is my surface 3 couldn't start the windows these days. And I want a new one...damn Microsoft.
kun wei let me guess, stuck on the Surface logo on boot forever? I had this happen to me.
yeah, i have tried a few way to start / refresh the system, and i think maybe is the windows update problem. I have not get the latest call from the local store, cause the 128 g version is lack for storage, and I reallly want a new one.
If under warranty get it replaced.
