  • Lindsay Salguero-Lopez was born with a hole in her heart, which left her struggling to breathe throughout her life. The un-repaired ventricular septal defect eventually led to both heart and lung failure. On January 27, 2022, the Port Washington mother was brought to North Shore University Hospital after becoming ill during a family shopping trip. Miraculously, donor organs became available days later and in the early morning hours of February 5, she became the first person to receive a lung transplant on Long Island; and a heart, too.
