Amazing how most of us take for granted "little" things like the ability to breathe or walk. You don't realize how special and valuable they are until you lose them.
So true
EVERYONE should be registered as organ donors so more people like her get a chance to live happy, heathy lives!
You mean forcing dead or alive people to be donors?
@@mickeymanson5681 lmao it’s not about forcing people. When people get their drivers license they get the choice of registering as an organ donor. You can also register through your states organ donor registry. Being an organ donor is one of the simplest and greatest ways to give back to people in need. You can help several lives by donating various organs that you no longer need after you have passed away.
@@lizstar1998 Well some people are religious so that would cause protests
Don’t sign up as an organ donor when you get your license. Doctors get paid when their patient ( whose an organ donor ) passes away. And some doctors will use that as an advantage and ( not all doctors, but it’s happened before ) not try as hard to save you so they can get paid. If i were you, i’d sign up online. that away it doesn’t go on your license.
@@RealPyro88 if for strict religious reasons that’s understandable but other than that I don’t see any other reason why you wouldn’t donate tour organs to people who need them.
I had a single lung transplant in 2013. I know how she feels! It's amazing to be able to take that deep first breath! Bless her heart and bless the person who donated their lung. Thank god for donors! I am still going strong. I hope she is still doing well. And please, be a donor. When you're gone you're gone and have no use for your organs and you can save someone's life. It's an incredible gift.
As one who smoked for 45 years and never wore a dust mask at my jobs as an Electrician, now at sixty years old on oxygen 24/7 with COPD and Emphysema, I can really relate to this Woman in the fact that I abused my lungs, while she through no fault of Her own, was born with faulty ones. God bless the person who was her organ donor and the doctors who operated on Her.
Cant you get new lungs,too?
whats COPD?
@@anton_c8gur Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
It's sort of like asthma, since it's also an inflammatory lung disease, but instead of the airways being constricted when exposed to certain allergens (as with asthma), it is instead caused by damage to the alveoli, which is where CO2 is exchanged for oxygen. People with COPD/emphysema might have to wear an oxygen tube in order to get enough of it.
@@Soleilune1995 tnx. i need to bike more and more whenever im not in work so i could minimize or stop my smoking
@@ubub834 They don’t give out lungs like candy. You have to be a great candidate. Meaning you gotta be healthy. In the best shape. And age matters as well. When I was 13, I told my parents that if something happens to me and I’m declared brain dead with little to no chance of waking up, I wanted them to let me go and have my organs donated so my death wasn’t in vain. When my grandmother died when I was 15, I repeated that same statement to them. (Her death made me reflect a lot at the time.) it’s been a little over a year now and that still holds true. Watching this video reminded me of that, as well as giving me a comforting feeling that if something happens to me and I am no longer alive, then a least one other person can have a better life from my death.

Its a major operation so there are always unexpected issues, like blood clots, etc. The first year was most difficult. High on life. That must feel so good to breathe on her own for the first time.
I can't get enough air for no reason and it's horrible-
I watched my grandfather fight for air when he had lung cancer that ravaged him. He fought like hell in that 19 months. He was told he wouldn’t make it 6 weeks when he was diagnosed. I can’t wait to see him again one day. 💔

I'm a registered organ donor. I too hope my body can help recreate a moment like this for someone else once I have passed. What a moving video.
Let's hope they sedate you before they cut you open - don't you understand that "Braindead" doesn't mean deceased? If that were the case, your organs would begin to decompose and therefore, unusable! They would keep your circulation intact until they would eviscerate you.... Dying is a process in stages, not a single moment.
And to keep their bodies from rejecting your organs, they need to take heavy medication until your organs would stop working after 5+ years, then they need the next person's set of donations.
Everything I said I can prove - I used to own a donor's consent doc, too until I saw a recent documentation. There's more going on between life and death than we will ever know... Just think about it, will you? You don't donate life, just a reprieve. And before it finally happens, you won't know the price.
Transplanting a lung is just the craziest thing. For us as humans to have the ability to open someone up, in the chest area, that much, to pull out and replace a whole lung, is unbelievable

I am suddenly very conscious of my breathing, I haven't thanked enough of how lucky I am to breath so easily. Amazing video.
I was very happy for this woman. This was not due to smoking but it was a condition she was born with. I wished my mother never smoked. She passed in 2014 and she suffered for many years with COPD and lung cancer. Both conditions are so painful and it is painful for the family members to see their love ones in so much pain. I am sure this woman suffered her whole life and I hope things are working out for her and she can live a happier life without pain.
may she rest in peace
