I believe if Reeve hadn't died, he would have regained his ability to walk through his will and perseverance. Maybe even by today. He was making unheard of progress--regaining things the doctors said were impossible. He truly was Superman.

Reeves was born to be Superman.... he's portrayal of Clark Kent and having the body frame of a comic accurate Superman was pure perfection.

Henry Cavill didn’t choose how the character would be portrayed, he was forced into portraying it that way. If he had creative liberties, he would have made it more like Christopher’s portrayal.

He was perfect for the time and also a wonderful actor (Somewhere in Time was epic), but his more gentlemanly, somewhat corny, portrayal of SM would not stand up today. Many folks let nostalgia get in the way. They got the height a bit wrong, Reeve was something like 6'4" (about the same as Brandon), where Cavill is a bit over 6'.

Edit: I triggered a lot of people with this post. Can't accept someone did it better than their generations superman. Henry was a good superman but he was a bad Clark Kent. His mannerism wasn't even close to how the comics portrayed him.

Christopher's natural grace, charisma and kindness shine through. That's why his version of Superman couldn't be matched by anyone else. He really set the bar too high.
Somehow I resonated more with Henry’s role. Who can forget his cry when his ‘dad’ was swept up by the tornado and repeated again on having to kill Gereral Zod, felt that one in the depths of my soul, then the resting of his head against Lois. To me that embodied who superman is.

Brandon Roth has the closest look to Christopher Reeves but they only gave him one chance in the main role as Superman in pt 5.
As long as this world goes on someone is going to get that role, When Cavill gives it up or gets too old someone else is going to get it, look at so many actors who already played him in series from Dean Caine to others, the legacy will go on until the end of time, so let us accept and respect the legacy and the actors who are bringing him to the screen.

Reeve's Superman was full of joy and kindness. I felt Cavill's was full of Angst and pain, a great performance by Cavill but Reeve is Superman perfection!

I love this. Christopher Reeves truly embodied Superman in every way. Henry Cavill and Brandon Routh captured Chris's interpretation of Kal El as Ewan McGregor captured Alec Guinness's interpretation of Obi Wan Kenobi.
Brandon's did because his was supposed to be a continuation of Reeve's version. I like what Henry brought to the role. It was appropriate for the gritty and grounded approach.
Nobody has portrayed Superman as good a Christopher Reeves. He played not only Clark Kent perfectly but also Superman. He had the most perfect look ever. I love Henry Cavil as well and also think Brandon Routh is severely underrated.
