I discovered Gypsy Vanners by buying my granddaughter a small plasic horse whic was a pinto i thought was going to say something else but was called Gypsy Vanner. It peaked my interest in the Breed. Then i watched TheHobbit and discovered a whole barn full of beautiful horses which were Gypsy Vanners. I was hooked.
I just had my first ride on a Gypsy Vanner last week. Amazing! I had been looking for an opportunity to ride them since I saw them pulling caravans in northern England many years ago. This was a dream come true.
I’ve always wanted one, I’m from a city environment and never cared for that. I’ve always wanted to be much closer to nature and ride a horse of magical dreams like the Vanner 🐴 ✨✨✨✨
These Gypsy Vanner Horses are truly BEAUTIFUL to behold! Their gorgeous hair, (flowing manes & tails, as well as their 'feathering' always puts me in mind of a armoured Medieval Knight's 'Charger'! (i.e., "Ladyhawke")
Thank you..I will often watch a video about them before bed to set my subconscious for sweet dreams..because they are so magical, sweet, and beautiful..absolute fantasy..
I love horses. I had once thought I wanted a Tennessee Walker but when I saw gypsy vanners, I decided that if I ever had a horse I would want it to be a Gypsy Vanner. But I love all horses, they are all precious to me, they are all beautiful to me. They are one of God's most beautiful and graceful creatures. I absolutely love horses and have been horse crazy my whole life.🐴
Love love love the Gypsy Vanners!!! Love all horses, but these are magically special ❤ I also love your videos and having the opportunity to see up close all the breeds. Thank you for what you do.
I’ve been wanting a Gypsy for several years. I’m finally getting into a position where I can buy land and get my dream horses. I’ll need at least three and I can’t wait to go pick them out!
We just purchased two Gypsy Vanner cross. The are 3 months old now. We are very excited. Want to learn as much as we can about them. I love their temperament.
My folks once said that I rode my 1/2 Quarter Horse / Welch Pony an average of every other day during the six years I had her. The Gypsy Vanner’s withers / back seems to be ideally suited for bare back riding. 🤗
Please use a bareback pad if you ride bareback. Even though they’re sturdy horses, you can still damage their spines and kidneys by riding them bareback. Plus the bareback pads have stirrups to keep you safer.
@@TexasLadyS While a bareback pad is favourable to that of just sitting on a horses back, please avoid ones with stirrups. Bareback pads are prone to slipping due to their material and lack of tree, and the stirrups add a layer of danger due to the potential to get your feet stuck as you slip.
I love this horse and dream of owning one someday. I have recently become a snowbird and am within driving distance of Ocala. I plan on visiting Gypsy Gold horse farm this winter and look forward to seeing these incredible horses.
My aunt has a gypsy vanner and he is the cutest. He reminds me of a donkey. Slow and always chilled. And during winter he has so much fur that his legs look really thick and he looks square.
I own a Gypsy Vanner, the grandson of Cushti Bok, and great grandson of Chip Off The Old Horse of Wales. They’re big puppies, but they move with such bravado. His canter is huge and his gallop is fearsome. I trust him with new riders and children. I have fallen off before and he does his very best to avoid hitting you, and he stops as soon as he can. He’s fearless- he’ll head out on the trail, he’ll swim, he walks in parades, and he is so so so loving. I trust him so much. He’s the love of my life.
Thanks. A very nice presentation indeed! I have been wanting one now for quite a few years. I will be moving to the U.P. Of Michigan in hopefully the not too distant future and once situated will looking into acquiring a Gypsy Vanner horse. I miss riding, and my parents once said that I rode my mare an average of every other day for ~ 5+ years, That was many years ago, but, as I have said for years that there are but three ways to travel; by horse, motorcycle and light plane. 😀 - kw
I am 49 yrs old next week and it took me until 6 months ago to finally get my unicorn 🦄 💕 a beautiful silver black tobiano gypsy filly. She will be 2 in august and I'm in love ❤️
I really do so love the Gypsy Vanners! We have bred our Silver Dapple Gypsy with a Rocky Mountain of the same color. Interesting🐎 to find out what she will through! 🥰
While Clydesdales played a big part in their creation (alongside many other British natives - Shires, Dales, Fells etc), Gypsy Cobs are their own breed ^-^
These horses are very common in the city of Bradford, where I grew up. They are called Gypsy Cobs here though. Everywhere there is s piece of grass the gypsies will tether a horse to it. They aren't very well looked after though. They're not shoed and rarely groomed. They'd be nice horses in the right hands.
A fan?? No! A Lover! I’m based in Andalucía And of course we have amazing horses here…but…… my dream come true would be to own Gypsy V I have a Spanish skewbald beauty and as Applebee’s fair is closer to me than Florida I will put on my list to visit there if ever travel becomes normal again.
i am a person who love the horses like any thing else post more information like cost of adult gypsy and a gypsy foul, as well as the way to maintain its hair, fearthing so no on it and how give ti a beautifull body size by the food we feed them.
Im inlove with the horses. The only reason why im such a fan of them is becuase i found them out on a game called. ✨horse world✨ it is a roblox game that has mostly some of the horse breeds. But in order to get that horse breed is to join the group ✨ hope you check this out if your inspired by it!
They're actually from Northern Ireland and the England/Scotland border. Northern Ireland is a part of Britain. The modern Gypsy Cob was developed mostly in the Yorkshire area, hence why we have Gypsy horse fairs here, such as Appleby.
@@lostmeowlodies No they actually originally came from Irish gypsies. It's not even the main Irish population that bred them. They are cultural aligned to the Irish traveler who also travelled to England like many Irish people. They then brought the Irish gypsy horse with them around the world. England just had them longer than other countries outside of Ireland. This is because travellers have travelled to England for centuries and now there is a an established English traveller population that came into existence originating from the Irish traveller ethnic group..
We have gypsy horse fairs in Ireland to the oldest horse fair in Europe is in Ireland. Mostly you will find gypsy horses and other traditional breeds here.
@@natureisawesome1 The Ballinasloe Horse Fair isn't a Traveller-based fair though. It was set up to sell work horses for farmers and carriage drivers. As for the Gypsy Cobs themselves, their main origins link back to Northern England, not Ireland, despite being bred mainly by Irish-Born travellers. They took farm horses, like Shires and Clydesdales (England and Scottish breeds), and crossed them with other British native breeds, such as Dales and Fells, which were coloured (Tobiano), at the time. The intent was to create a family-sized draft horse. Dales and Fells were too small to pull Caravans and Shires and Clydesdales were too tall for the younger family members to handle and mount. The breed only really developed around the time of war, as the army requested Bay and Black horses, leaving behind the coloured ponies, hence why the Gypsy Cob's signature look is that of a black and white tobiano.
@@natureisawesome1 Also, I'm very aware of the cultural heritage of Travellers, considering I have grown up in their community. I've ridden their horses, rode in their wagons, and attended their fairs. The Gypsy Cob has played a huge role in my upbringing. I have a red and white filly of my own.
I was scrolling through videos, then I found a video about my favorite horse. Fun fact, Gypsy vannaers are separated, there is a blue roan Gypsy and a gold Gypsy
I love the breed . I'm concerned about over - breeding for confirmation . Breeding for a certain look . That seems to cause physical abnormalities over time . The breed has many horses that suffer from confirmation causing problems . I'm not very knowledgeable about horses . I have a piece of paper around here somewhere that lists the physical defects that some of the horses have . When I find it again I will list them . Presently , I believe breeders have gone too far with the length of the feathering , the mane , and the tail . And there is one area I absolutely abhore . That is not clipping the long hair that covers the eyes , which ofcourse impairs the animals sight . That can be a safety issue and it must be annoying to the horse . I believe it is better to keep the original look of the horse than trying to match breeding with some fantasy someone has .
Gypsy Cobs have no breed specific health issues so I'm interested in knowing where you heard that? Draft types can develop a condition called CPL but that is separate to feather and the origins of CPL are still unknown. The only worry with feather is a condition known as mallenders and sallenders (dry, flaky skin, similar to dandruff), but that can be avoided with routine feather care. This breed has existed for far longer than most lighter horse breeds. No modern horse retains the "original look" of the horse.
@siientmeiodies9460 You seem to know alot about horses . I wrote this 8 months ago , apparently . I read about problems or saw something on line , again , apparently because this was quite awhile ago . I had a motorcycle wreck ; sometime around this period . I got brain damage and my memory isn't like it was before the wreck . I wish I could answer you better 😔, but I can't . I love the Vanners .
@@tommurphree5630 I'm sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you've recovered well. As for the horses - I've been studying biology and genetics for a fairly large amount of time so I'm quite passionate about genetic health. I also own a Gypsy filly myself so that helps haha. I'm fortunate enough to have grown up alongside the breed here in Britain, where they originated. They're really lovely horses and I'd choose them over a warmblood type any day!

What a cool way to discover the breed! I love it!
We love these horses! We purchased our first one last year. We now have three!
That is awesome! Congratulations! 🐴 What type of riding/driving do you do?
Are they expensive?? What is the typical price range for them?
The notes say that they average ~$12,000.00.

I had a 16 hand tall Tennessee walker. He was awesome and saved my life twice, but I would take a gypsy horse over half my friends these days lol.
Had to get one!!! Have a half and full GV and wish we had more. They are the BEST.
I have a wonderful gypsy gelding. I worked hard and saved like crazy to be able to afford one. He is everything I could ever want in a horse.
Congratulations, that is so wonderful!!

Hate when Americans call our cobs vanners
Donkey
It's Irish Cob. Gypsy is a slur against Roma people.
You said that the name "Romany" was considered. But they chose a racial slur instead🙄 what in hell?
