In this video we show a real life example of a Live Sound Check with the Midas M32. Great board for the price range and the sound quality is awesome. The band I am doing sound for is called Taxi Driver and they are from Omaha, NE ( www.taxidriverl... ) Thanks to Taxi Driver and the Ozone Lounge Omaha for letting us make this video!

Why is noone talking about how the musicians are always doing what they're asked to that's like super rare! They're PERFECT
the sound technician is the MVP of every live performance. we need to get paid more!!! :)
and studio recordings ofc..
I don't know about you, but I get paid pretty well. More than enough to give my 110% for the show.
Wow that drummer just won't stop playing !
he wanted practice one more timexD
So fine to work with people who knows to show respect to the sound engineer who is trying to do his work.
the noisy lot of any band😂😂😂
Low Light
Yeah man... right
Я на каждом саундчеке ору на барабанщиков. Когда мне надо поговорить с музыкантами, все глушат инструменты, и только ебучий ударник продолжает долбить по барабанам. Хоть стреляй в него, чтоб заткнулся.
I've mixed in that room on that board. Using Audio Media Productions presets. The thing to take into account about that venue is that it's a restaurant setting and there are people still eating during that sound check. Most times we don't get to make any noise until 30 minutes prior to show time. So, yes, it was a quick spin through, but very thorough in my opinion. Of course, many adjustments are made throughout the night once they get rolling. Good job man! Hope all is well!
Engineer's got very good frequency tuning. Well done mate.
Dude, currently going to work at a place with an m32 and haven't used it. This is giving me such peace of mind hahaha thanks. Good mix!
Super fast & professional. Hands Down!
+German Villen thanks man! I appreciate the kind words!
that visual display of real time frequencies is an excellent tool
Thanks for the walkthrough! Been holding on to my analog desk but am getting close to making the switch and have gotten a ton of valuable info from these type of walkthrough videos. I do have to say that I still get a kick out of how every single local or regional band reacts the same way to soundcheck, ask for kick drum and the entire band starts riffing and babbling into the mics.....
thank you for doing this. I like seeing the process and how the monitors are set up. good stuff.
Lol XD Same
But I’ll never know how to operate one. Maybe a analog mixer not digital it gets so complicated
Nice console. Nice job EQ'ing.. Thanks for sharing.
Very Cool ! I remember seeing Taxi Driver back in like 2005 ! Glad to see they are still around !
We had recently bought this mix, and I had a little course about the same. Before that course I had caught nothing. When I passed some lessons and after seen this video, your quick hands were not so confusing me. Great mix, and this video too.
As for the drummer, I have them play some thing in time with kick, snare, and HH. They play longer and they usually get into a groove. But, that's just me. Nice sound check
Great ears Sir and patience with busy musicians, I have x32 and compact love them for the price.
This think is pretty incredible. Great demo.
Lubię oglądać takie przygotowania 🙂
I want it sooooo much!!!
Bought a lot of gear right before pandemic and its standing and collecting dust...
Bubs2005 it is a sub monitor mix for soundcheck then when the band is playing it is straight left and right mix to usb
It's incredible, how affordable technology is now
daaaaaaammmmmmm sounds so good!!! will be you be my band's sound guy!?!?!? I have an X32 rack with an S16 (just in case) and you don't have to worry about our monitor mix :-)
Amazing how your eq presets are very similar to mine, but coming from the same school of thought, when it comes to mixing, it's not surprising. This confirms that I've been doing it right for the past 6 years!
+Jeremy Noel yes its good to search and destroy! and if you absolutely have to then boost but as a last resort.
A bit more *doesn't move the fader* about there?
this is a classic technique that will forever be used.
don`t understand, explain, please. What do you mean?
arranger222 placebo effect is great against feedback
Normal i check FOH/system calibrate to environment, (mon) and then line check first. Then band starts and first track is also soundcheck, get sound in 90 seconds. No time for this long soundcheck. Or ask do a normal rehearsal song/track.
Man, that's some good music! Awesome video. Thanks for showing your good work. My church rented a system for one week on vacations. It was my first time with a X32. I know it's Behringer - hate Behringer, had too much problems for a lifetime, but I could have a little taste of M32
M32 is a nice mix, and full automation digital mixers are the name of the game. I read nearly 80 reviews on the latest Behringer X32 and other than preferences for a few minor items which - when they got comfortable with it - they realized it was better than they first realized. One reviewer said he thought the X32 was cleaner and more transparent than Presonus and a better value than some mixers selling in the high teens. I've been pleased with Behringer's bang for the buck! Midas M32 , DiGiCol SD, Avid & Behringer X32 are all excellent products that get the job done. The X32 utilizes Midas' gain programmable pre-amps (some help from Klark Teknik's).
Got my feet wet on a 'tube' board built by J. Harned who became MCI. I think the Bee-Gee's did a lot of work on one of those; and then I got the privilege to custom design a Sphere console for Doppler and worked on another Sphere at GroundStar with Ronnie. So, being brought up on large analog studio mixers, I'm jealous of the ability of these guys (& gals) and their magic mixers; but when it's said and done, it still takes an audio geek that loves music, has good ears, attention to detail and coolness behind the faders. "So pay no mind to the mixer behind the curtain and just enjoy the show - folks."
Engineer did a nice job.
that EQ is sick..
Great mixing! But i think it’s time to change tom heads 😅. What do you guys think?
Nice one. Keep it up dol. 🔥🔥🙌🙌
Did you ever find where the Hum was coming from ?
Hi, nice tutorial videos. I have a few questions on your workflow. If I am not mistaken, you 1. use only gates and dynamics on your drums (why not on the other instruments?) 2. route some of the channels (kick, snare) to the M/C main bus (is this better for the centrally panned instruments rather than routing to the stereo main bus?) 3. set your master fader and individual channels to zero and adjust the input gain (do you have still another way to set the overall volume for the venue?). We bought a M32 few months ago. It's a great console! Thanks!
TME All-Stars I typically use gates just on drums, I do use compressors on other instruments also, especially the vocals. In this video you might be seeing me jump to the monitor side of the board. I split the board into two consoles that has the mirror imaged channels. On the monitor channels I typically do not use gates or dynamics but on the FOH side of the console I do. When you see me using the mono bus I am running subs on an aux. It is not set up as a mono master send. Just to the subwoofers, I wouldnt be sending the snare to it tho. and as far as the gain I will set my faders first into usable position like 0dB then bring my gain up, this is proper gain structure, you can follow it backwards. Dave Rat has a good video on this. If you need more volume for the venue adjust your amplifiers accordingly.
Great, thank you for the reply and keep on posting your tutorial videos! Much appreciated.
Drums really need to be tuned !!! Wow Great job by the mix engineer though. But I would have made that drummer tune them drums for sure!!!!
I've had drummers flat out tell me they like the 'ring'... smh.. tune your drums... lol
Thought i was the only one.
thanks for this video.. I'm learn many knowledge! thanks again
Sick mix bro!
Thanks for this ...! Would you say that the Midas stuff is a warmer sound than the X32 preamps? I think right now I'm sold on the X32 Compact as an entry point, then add Midas stage boxes and later the M32R. I'd bet this was a rockin' show.... Nice stuff, thanks again for all of the videos!
Isaiah Furrow yeah the midas boards have the pro preamps.
The human ear can't actually tell the difference between the two boards. Dave Rat's tests reveal all lol. There IS a difference, but it's not something we can hear. The differences are at levels too low or too high for us to notice. Especially during a show!!! The interface shootout done by GEARSLUTZ cleared it all up too. In a blind test the BEHRINGER interface was voted the best sounding even up against $12,000 dollar Appolo interfaces and the likes. It's 200 bucks!!! All the people that claim to "hear" the differences in todays gear voted BEHRINGER THE BEST!!! hahaha. I am NOT saying they are at all. I'm saying that they're all virtually the same! Don't waste money on names. Todays gear is ALL great stuff. I've had my x32 Compact for 3 years and done well over a hundred shows for professional acts and not one has ever complained it's a Behringer board. Either is capable in the right hands.
Unsure if I could get an answer here, but what kind of mic should I get to record audio at a concert from my smartphone and not get an audio mess, I'm ready to invest up to 300$ if I can get a bluetooth mic that's gonna do a good job, I use a Pixel 6a.
Some kind of phase or coning on the mics !!! Do you hear it?
hello, where i can get the virtual sound check?
Ilove ur hand work
thanks for the reply..
Audio Media Production Service I will love to come do my training with you please reply me
Good job dear and thanks for making this video for showing Midas 32 but how you didn’t get that there is distortion in the piano channel please I am waiting for your reply back because I am working with Midas 32 and I don’t want to miss any information to keep the good job thanks
How can i contact you to have set up on my mixer and to have a multi track recording.
Overall this band sounds pretty talented.
I think during check he should use plain tones on the guitar.some effects amplify way more than normal.
Beautiful
Buzzing throughout most the mic check... seems like it’s from a DI box on piano ch 1?
Conductor has arrived at 12:30... :D
I think its a very strong magic!
is this recording coming from the camera?
are they using IEM sir?
i love this amazing stuff
Hmmm looks like your #10 fader LCD didn't crap out on you in the first 2 weeks of owning it... Im really debating whether the just leave it alone or send it back because with my luck I would get a referb unit that had a failing pre amp and then it would crap out mid show.... I do have an m32r on standby if anything does happen though...
Nice video! I have a question: What are you doing with channels 1-16 and what are you doing with channels 17-32. It looks like they both have the same instruments going into each. Does it have to do with EQ'ing for the monitors being different than for FOH?
Since most mobile devices bring up the first 16 channels... it's best to set them up as "monitor" only... then live mix on 17 thru 32... the other advantage to that is separate EQ per channel.
how do we set the gain level for both?
What effect was he using on the kick?
parabéns irmão, muito show a mesa, parece ser um ótimo console!
I think bass guitar need some low frequency still.that's bass guitar and you need that..
Whats with the buzz in the piano channel??
+Charles Kirby that happens sometimes in live sound... nothing can always be perfect lol... it ended up being one of the cables that the keyboard player brought! thanks and cheers
@@audiomediaproductionservic1051 I hadn't time and passion for looking the buzz source, so I used the EQ to minimize the buzz.
Thanks for the video. Where do i plug in my headphones on the M32?
Bottom right under the front of console
What's your overall opinion of this board after using it for a couple of years?
Great! What's the audio format of your videos?
9:00 I laughed when he started singing the doors. By the way I love the doors.
I prefer the Windows (also musical act, was mend as Mouth & McNeil cover, did the more popular version of "How Do You Do")
thx for this great video. :)
good
ok so i'm curious with respect to "more me" on the monitors. The musicians are asked early on without any audio (music) if they can hear themselves properly. They all answer yeah but what happens when the band begins to play? Just asking.
Jim smith they will probably signal if they need more
I noticed you had a rough EQ on every channel before you started the sound check; were those EQs you added manually before the check started, or are those part of the built-in EQs on the board?
Mike Kerlinger I have my own eq's that are my starting points for every instrument that I have saved into my library...of coarse if my starting point needs adjusting I adjust it... but it saves so much time before a gig, trying to set my hi pass filters eq's gates, ect so once i get the input list from the band i can load up my presets under a minute and have everything labeled and ready to go..
Thanks I hope this helps... CHEERS
Q: Did you run your first fader group for IEM and your second fader group for the house PA (same inputs)?
Guitar hum?
does foh prefer vocals in stereo or mono ? and does singers own iem mix prefer vocals in stereo or mono ?
Thank you so much for sharing a wonderful experiance and knowledge.
My question!!!!
Once you set all the imputs together
Into the master father ouput, what is your personal clip point?????
0db or below 0db?????? In order to keep a rich headdrom whit out distortion.
Thank you ahead .
tuneroneff I try to have as much signal going out of the master out as possible with out red lighting or clipping.. proper gain structure is to have all the signal from the board and if it is too loud then back down the amps
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I ll keep it in mind.
Goodeverning my boss text frm NIGERIA hw can i buy MIDAS M32
Awesome video, thanks for posting.
Could you explain how you have your inputs routed to your fader banks and why?
***** if your talking about my inputs being routed as a mirror image on faders 17-32 is because most bands i do sound for dont take up more than 16 inputs so i mirror image them on 17-32 to split the board into 2 consoles one for monitors and one for FOH then i set my bus sends as post eq, what this allows me to do is have channel eq's in the monitors seperate from my FOH allowing for better monitor mixes. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Audio Media Production Service how do you mirror image the inputs I want to try that next gig
I'd have the hardest time mixing this band. At no point was professionalism displayed. Everybody kept playing over each other, drummer wasn't consistent, just needed single notes, not screwing around. This band would get me to walk away in a hurry.
ouch those vocals sound pretty stuffy, get them to back off the mic and maybe consider other vocal mics :) sorry had to say it. also im hoping the distortion is just the recording :/
Sounded like something with the mics but it could have been the way the camera was picking things up But for sure I noticed every mic had a phase issue or something going on!!!
Probably just need to tweek the gain down a bit. Just tiny bit.
[Rus] Всё отлично, но перкуссии очень много, на мой скромный взгляд лучше было бы бочку с рабочим подчеркнуть. Но за пультом профи - он сам знает что хочет.
Why do these kinds of bands always get the big corporate gigs? Just curious..
I mean they always sound the same.... spectacular musicians but corny way over the top singers that are clearly not trained properly...
People actually prefer that?
Just another b or c level bar band , everyone with day jobs - bashing it out... nothing new to see here.
I have the exact same model.input 2 mics and 1 phone as playback for minus one. im sending main output to my mac for recording. I have 2 ps15 speakers to use as monitor. during recording, I prefer only to listen to playback and I dont want to put on headphone.could you show me how can i have the option of 1)playback only 2)vocals only 3)playback and vocal using the speakers. thanks
Wow, great hand on a great desk. Weldun !
Great........
could you please tell me what mics you used on congas and bongos? thank you.
Craig Rothery just a good old 57 on both...
Nice Behringer
MIDAS
Mrashgaming You do realize that the M32 shown in this video is the same as the Behringer X32, only the hardware is a bit better.
(Behringer bought Midas a while back. )
Frankey Fish yea knew that long time ago
The Midas has better motorized faders and better upgrade on the pre amps made alittle more road worthy!!!!
What reverb do you have on the vocals? Nice video!
+4pomona I have a hall reverb but I customized it a bit for my liking.
Same content with behringer x32 .
Are you hating those toms or is that just bad audio
Oops meant to say gating
How would you compare the sound quality to an analog Midas like the Venice320?
Don't care venice is boss!!
Instead of paging, and doing sends on faders for iems - why don’t you reach up to the buss knobs and turn them... faders are being cycled for nothing...
Good check...........
Is it possible to notice that difference in a recording? If yes, would you send me some recordings (LR, only)?
At the end of this video is recorded of the left and right bus when the band is playing together..
I like it
I turned on my midas M32 and I cant get any input signal on any of the channels, it worked the last time I shut it off, any ideas? ive tried everything I can think of, maybe the mixer is kaput?
It can be a false Routing
list price kurs indonesia
Hahaha forget to mute the rack before you changed cables?
Don't pushing the buttons too hard,,, the M32 is mine !
What is this Wave Designer for?
Its a good effect for kick and for snare... try it...
What do you do if they want efx in their monitors?
I say no...
@@Heywoodj1969 hahaha that's one way of dealing with it lol
add some. it's the same process as adding any individual channel to their monitor.
Hey what plugin you use on your kick drum?
Whitson Williams its a digital mix console not a DAW
@@jadonharper1493 But you can insert some effects.
Well I would experiment with microphone position, compressor setting and equalizer.
About equalizer I would use this, to lower the cross talk, to get more boom and more punch.
What monitor are we hearing in your video? Is there a monitor in your booth?
Do you know the song at 12:25?
James Jordan little big town pontoon
nice. .
英国售价多少钱啊
Needs more cowbell.
WOW
Chick-chick-chick
BTW what a great experience this video is.
