I love that you talk to your plants and that they TALK BACK haha, that’s such a wonderful and unique quality for your videos (and I watch too many plant videos). Also thank you for the advice! I’m trying to grow my bear’s paw :)
OMG thank you so much, that makes me so happy! 😁 I'm editing a bear's paw propagation 3 week update video that should be up tomorrow! Listen, there's no such thing as too many plant videos, especially if it led you to find this crazy sh🌱 show of a channel! Good luck with your bear's paw, whatever it's name is 😉
You know what, they might root, I saw a video where a lady propagated some during winter and I think it worked out 🤔 She used a rooting hormone though, let me know what happens, I'm curious, we're pretty much on the cutting edge of science
Hello Smith, I get my succulents from Succulent Studios, and my latest ones are the bear's paw and watches chain, they were beautiful and great at first but now I am having some issues and I really don't want to lose them. I have a couple pieces I think au can propagate but I am not sure. Is it possible i send you pictures of my plants and get your advice?
Heck ya that sounds great! You can message me a picture on Instagram, or you could email me if you're not on there, I think there are links to both of those in the description
Hi! I'm a plant newbie in general, and was hoping for a little advice if you wouldn't mind - two part question: (sorry it's so long) 1. Any tips for leaf propogation with these? If I look up general succulent tips would this be the same or are these different? Do you just lay them on top of the dirt? Or bury the end a bit. Would rooting hormone help or be too wet for a plant like this? (mine's like a thick syrupy consistency). I realize you said this is unlikely to work but my long distance partner bought a rooted cutting online and it was shipped to me and it didn't do well (I think I overwatered tbh or more to the point the planter I had it in just wasn't good for it, the leaves slowly died, I decided to try repotting it and check the roots but during the process the last 3 leaves at the top of the stems (these actually looked healthy still) just fell off so that's all I have to work with. But part 2 is: any hope of saving the plant itself? I replanted it in a better pot, better drainage, better draining soil, and have learnt from my mistakes last time, roots looked ok I think. So right now it's just two empty stems. Any hope of it regrowing leaves? Should I just leave it, or cut it back down? Or is that a lost cause entirely lol. If it is, anything I can do with bare stems without leaves attached re. propogation? I just want to try and save SOMETHING from it 😭 Thank you so much!
That's pretty cool! As for the plant itself, it sounds like you took exactly the right approach with the new soil, my advice for those is to keep them in some really bright indirect sunlight, and I'll bet that, in the soil you've potted them, they will probably grow some new leaves eventually, and as for the leaves, I nestled mine down into the soil but didnt bury them at all, but that was 8 weeks ago and they still havent grown anything
@@smittyandsky Thank you so much for responding! Yeah, I definitely don't have high hopes for the leaves from everything I've seen but can't hurt to try I guess. Is less light better for the leaves? How about moisture? Hopefully the plant will eventually do something again! Maybe light was one of the problems with it to begin with too. I just don't really get that much bright light in my place unless its direct. I got a grow light for some of my other plants but I worry about it being too direct. And I don't have a spot that I could put it near the table with the ones that get it but further away. But I'll play around with it and hopefully figure it out, nothing to lose I guess! I wonder if I should just sit it outside somewhere now it's not too cold.
Oh sweet! Hey, unless your grow light is really really powerful, I would keep everything right by the light, that consistency will be great for the leaves and the lil plant, and as far as the moisture, only water the plant when the soil has gotten completely dry, and with the leaves, my approach has been to moisten them every other day, but again, I still haven't seen any progress on any of my bear's paw leaves. it's weird because like none of them have died or even begun to dry out, but there's no growth either. They look like they were just taken from the plant 🤔
You know what, if you keep them all in the right lighting and avoid overwatering them I bet they'll be just fine, though it might take them a bit longer to recover 😊
OMMFGDFF!!! Yo, what if I used my moustache bits to make a second smitty k? 🤯 I could feed it Oreos and Reeses and rainbow unicorn Bang til it was big enough to fend for itself, then maybe it would turn against me and I have would to banish it from the kingdom for my own protection! 🤔 Ur a straight up genius fr, this is a meme gold mine!
@@smittyandsky lol sweet! I wouldn't mind just whatever you do keep me updated with the results 😉 (that nutrition makes me think it will definitely go against you tho😅) ✌️🪴
lol so the bear's paw in the white planter is named Thomas Baker, though he prefers to be called just Baker, and I have yet to name the grafted coral cactus in the blue owl mug, but if you have a suggestion let me know and I'll make it official and give you a shout-out on my Instagram 😀
Words cant explain.... how satisfying your channel is!!❤❤❤

First time here on your channel and I love it! Subscribed halfway through the vid. Thanks a bunch! You were so helpful and fun at the same time!
Wow thanks! You're too kind 😄 that means so much!
I love the paint brush, its like a chopstick but you can brush the dirty off them after you're done. Yasss.
Hey thanks! Ya it works great for dusting, especially for fuzzy plants like these, thanks so much for watching!
Yikes, I clipped a couple tips from my mother plant and it is November, will the cuttings root or am I SOL?
You know what, they might root, I saw a video where a lady propagated some during winter and I think it worked out 🤔

I'm having some trouble with my paws, all of its new growth is very flat and kinda tacky. any tips or ideas on what the problem could be?

Oh and hey, it might be fun to try the rooting hormone, but only on like half of the leaves, a scientific approach 👾
oh no i cut my cuttings right at the stem without leaving at least two pairs of leaves 😳 will it grow back eventually?

Did u lose ur mustache at the end there? 🤔
😂 I did! I will grow back tho 🙃
Lolol I noticed it too and had to go back to check if I was just seeing things. Then my brainball was like "maybe he's propagating that too 🤔"

What’s the name of the plant in the owl planter?

I just killed mine ☹️
Oh no, my condolences, may your fuzzy lil friends rest in peace 😢
