- Martin Guitar Strings Play test: Luxe by Martin KOVAR. Maury strung his OM-28V with Martin Luxe KOVAR strings. In this video, we'll hear what the sounded like brand NEW, after 2 weeks & after 4 weeks.
What do YOU think of the Kovar strings? Have you tried them on your guitar?

In this video, they definitely started to lose that jangle week by week. But still sound good...Cool test 💯👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Nice comparison over time. I liked their sound after two weeks and a month better then when new. Maybe that’s just my ear. Though my recordings of the strings over two months don’t have the depth/quality as Maury’s, my experience (sound) with the Kovar’s seems similar to this comparison.
Thanks for sharing, Bob.
They don’t sound bad at a month, but they start sounding more dull that’s for sure. They are not the brightest stirrings either, they sound broken in, even new.
Thanks Adolfo
Great work, Maury. Yes, brand new to a little longer time span will also say something, for as subjective a thing as this is anyway.
I’ve had mine on a few guitars for over 6 months, again, playing time varies like crazy…
They still sound very good, less top end of course by then, but the one thing I’d say over the whole 6 months:
Tuning stability galore!
PS Love these for Eagles strumming; great tone! but just a little too much squeak for my finger-style, might be great for many others!
Thanks John. I remember our email exchanges and this is good info.
Love the sound of these, but I’m more interested in how they’ll sound after two or three months! Even regular pb last me a few months, but I hate new string sound. And I have more than one guitar to play.
Thanks Jesse. Yeah IMO these kind of skip the “new PB sound” very early.
By the sound of things, about a week. Then they lose that top end sparkle.
That’s called breaking in. 😂
