Hi guys! Here's how I fixed my problem with my external microphone. I've been struggling with this for a month until I found this solution! It will fix the problem 100%.
It will also work on BOYA BY-MM1, BOYA BY-M1 LAVALIER, SENDA SD-MM1, RODE and OTHER MICROPHONES!
By the way, I'm using Iphone XR. But it will also work on Iphone 7, 8, XS, Xmax, 11, 11 Pro and all the latest apple products with IOS higher than 10.

I bought a MOVO VXR10 mic to use with my iPhone 12. I am 66+ yrs old and NOT Tech-skilled at all! I’ve spent countless hours watching videos and reading stuff online to get this mic to work -- to no avail - until this morning when I stumbled on your video! All I needed was the “dongle” which you displayed (I had one in a drawer…), plugged it in with the supplied TRRS cable, downloaded the Recorder Plus program, and BOOM 💥 I have beautiful, rich sound!!!!

I’m so happy you took the time to film it, with such step-by-step detail, because I’m on the other side of the world from you, I’m sure, and you solved my problem. I am so happy and thankful for you. I ran out to BestBuy and bought the official Apple Lightning to Headphone Jack adapter for $9.99 to make sure it was certified. It works on my iPad Pro 2 with both Movo VXR10 & my Boya. Thanks for the video. I have been having mic problems with my iPhone 12 Pro Max for ages. I think the iPhone thought I had headphones attached & not a mic, so only the internal microphone was picking up the sound, which of course was complete poop. I'll make sure to use an MFI certified cable from now on, and hopefully my problems are over. My mic is a Boya BY-M1 lav mic.

You are a legend! Two days I've spent trying to get a Rode VideoMic Pro to work with my iPhone. Even the tech support couldn't help me, saying external mics don't work with iPhones native camera app, and I needed to download other video apps, all requiring in-app purchases, but it didn't work with them either. Replaced the cheaper lightning knockoff cable they sold me with the certified Apple one and works brilliantly with all the apps, including the Apples camera app. Think I'll send a link of this video to Rodes tech support. Thank you :)

Very helpful this post. I plugged my rode mic into my iPhone and thought I was hearing things. Or not hearing at all. I knew there was no difference in sound. So I have ordered this cable only costing £7. So thankful I seen this video. And your post. Thanks again
I was skeptical because the adapter I had claimed it was also Apple MFi certified, but apparently they aren't all equal. The OPSO one worked like a charm. Thank you so much!

Bro i have boya m1 mic and its jack is TRRS but it’s length is somewhat bigger then normal TRRS so does it will support the lightning adapter?

I was having the same issue. Bought the boya-mm1 to use with GarageBand but my adaptor didn’t work. I bought 3 adaptors and nothing. The mic worked perfectly on other phones (with the headphone jack) and on my laptop but not on my phone. So I bought the official adaptor from the Apple Store and voila! It works perfectly now. I guess it’s because the fake ones only have 3 wires inside (left, right and ground), but not for the mic. The official one has around 7 wires.

Were you able to hear audio from your phone while using the mic ?
@@LEGENDKlLLA for that you would need a different equipment, that would allow you to use the headphones and mic and connect them both to your phone. Unless you have Bluetooth headphones, but there's always a slight delay.

This adapter did not help me with a Rode Videomic going through a TRS/TRRS converter and then into an iPhone X. Real bummer.

So what you’re saying is that the apple 3.5mm audio jack to lightning will not work ? The one I buy from apple ?
I'm not so sure with that because before I had the one that I have now, I first went in an apple store and I asked them if the adapter works with an external microphone and they did not recommend it to me because they had a customer with the same problem as mine and once she tried it it did not work. I haven't tried it yet but the apple staff gave me a hint.
