Had to use the Audio input to get the video and cd to show up on the TV. HDMI 1 is used by DirecTV, leaving HDMI2 open. Using only the component cable with RCA composite to my TV. Have not tried to burn a cd from a recorded DirecTV program stored on the receiver. Fingers crossed.

So basically I am asking the vcr to tape a blank screen. If I use the tv remote and put it on tv, I get a picture, bur the setup screen from the dvd remote doesn't show up

This is the composite connection which is less quality than component (red green blue). You need to plug the 3 RCA cable into the “out” or “DVD/VHS common out” on the VCR and into the “in” on the TV.

When Connecting thru the DVD/VCR inputs, I'm getting a B&W pic, which is not clear, and w/o sound. I'm using the add'l A/V Cables, as well. When just connecting thru the DVD connecting inputs, I'm getting a Purple display, and still no sound.

this is good if your TV is about 20 years old or so and it doesn't have the updated new TV signals where you to have a ( box )to pick up the new tv stations (signals) "TODAY" I need the info on how to hook this .A New "TODAYS" 2016 Smart TV not an 30 old TV info as they are doing it here .the TV I have is a Smart TV "OR NEW" and the DVD Recorder is also a (NEW )or made for (Today) 2016 Model also it is a Sanyo DVD VHS Recorder the TV IS A 2016 SMART TV THe directions are way to overly confusing they over kill it with geek tech tems only that they alone know what the terms mean so if anyone knows how to hook this id appreciate any help i get i can make it play the dvd but hooking it up to record from a TV is antenna has evaded me greatly. I called Sanyo for tech help and all they gave me was making it even more more confusing forme so i gave up and its set here now for months but i can play dvd on it .

What if my TV has a green blue red white and red. Do I need to get a cable with five different colors like above
