There's an even faster way to do this right off your phone with your calculator.
Account Size x %of risk ( 5000x0.02) = 100
100 Divided by the pips ( including the number after the decimal! )
100/919 = 0.1088 LOTS
youre the best!
Thanks bro for the tips. My question is if I want to calculate for XAUUSD the pips issue is counted differently if I'm not mistaken?
Example of the current chart 2023. Pips that would take as Lost.
1.-1956.792 - 1951.497 = 5,295
measuring bar tells me = 529.5
What pip would you take?
Always coming thru with the clutch videos.

Love the tips u give and examples too
Best video ever such a simple explanation omg
Your are the best, I have been looking for exactly this tool.
Or - risk (1% of account) ÷ stop size (number of pips) = pip value (trade size)
If using leverage,
pip value ÷ leverage
Under rated comment, thanks!
amazing !! this just solved my problem. thanks
Thank you so much for this video Nick! I have a question about calculating position size if we introduce leverage/ margin into our trade. In your example the original risk percentage is 2%, if we consider to use 10x leverage, does it mean we have to divide 2% by 10 to get the correct risk percentage (e.g. 0.2% = 2%/ 10) in our calculation?
Your so Posh, intelligent, and helpful. Thank you sire

I use MT4 and to try to find Pip Value and Position Size on these instruments is a night mare !!! PLEASE help me out. Stay safe and healthy !!! Thank you !!!

Good info
If cents account , is it mini lot or micro lot? Tnx for the amswer
How do I work out what the ‘current ask price’ would be on the calculator?
Great.
does my leverage affect the lot size?
Thanks for the video though I haven’t understood on how you find the actual lot size u use after findin out the amount u are Riskin anyone to help out
can you use this calculator for calculating lot sizes for trading indices?
Does this work for index trading
IF I CALCULATE FOR USDCHF THEN WHAT SHOULD THE CURRENT ASK PRICE?
Wab gold we can look it in same calculator?
are the standard, mini, and micro lot sizes backwards?? Isn't the standard lot size 1.00?
wait, so how would you calculate your trade if you have to enter one first...?
Nice video
I just did my first trade with real money. My account is 111 $ that I will increase to over 1000 later this week. Anyway. I just wanted to do one trade. Obviously not super worried about the 2.5 % risk I put on the trade. As I will adjust that later. The thing though is that I never had the chance to adjust the lot size. The broker did that automatically for me?
Do they have indices?
What about for exotic pairs? Some of them I don’t see on the position calculator and the stop loss in pips is like 3700.4 for example
we have the tool! check us out!
i have doubt, if i have leverage 1000, how do i calculate?
how come when you select nzdcad, usd cad comes up
does this work on the phone android mt4?
Where is the bid price on the calculator?
WHAT SHOULD BE THE INPUT IN "account balance"? IS IT YOUR REMAINING BALANCE AVAILABLE ? AND WHAT IS THE "CONTRACT SIZE" TO BE USED? thanks !
Yes, it's your remaining balance. So what ever you have available to trade with!!
@@Whoitnow heelo! thanks for the reply, just wanna know if theres an update with the site. Because it now asks for CONTRACT SIZE. DOnt know what to put since i cant really find videos showing the update. Pls reply, i dont wanna mess my computation. thanks so much!
Suppose you hold Euro currency and you want to trade AUD/USD, the calculator will ask for the current ask price of EUR/USD. Is that ask price the price you set your limit order at?
Hi there, no I think that it is just so that the calculator can convert your account currency (in your case, Euros) into US dollars as the pair AUD/USD requires US dollars to make the trade. Hope that helped 👍
my problem is after figuring out the lots size tying in and placing trade the entry candle has moved too much already and do t know what to do 😅
Bro if use leverage
But since the calculator reads 2% of $5000 wont you be trading a mini lot cause a mini lot is 0.01 but am seeing 10.8696 whlie micro lot is 0.10 and on your video is 1.087 same as standard lot can you explain why
did you ever figure this out ? I need an answer
Can you please explain what the standard lots, mini lots and micro lots mean?
Dunstan standard is 100,000 units of a currency (excluding yen) mini is 10,000 and micro 1,000
But how do I calculate pips on different pairs like it’s different for every pair no?
Help! It doesn't give you the option to put in the leverage you use, so how do i calculate my position size accurately!?
A calculator that takes into account the leverage and clearly states the required margin is nice. I see your question was posted 9 months ago. Have you since solved that problem? Your feedback would be much appreciated
@@ericburdon6148 I had to work it out manually as there is no calculator that does absolutely everything. The Formula is Lot Size (Units) / Leverage X Exchange Rate. In my case, I want to trade EUR/USD and the currency I'm trading with is Australian Dollars (AUD). My Lot Size is 2.00 which is (200,000 Units). My Leverage is 30:1 and Lets say the exchange rate for EUR/AUD is 1.5531. So, I would calculate: 200,000 / 30 X 1.5531 = 10,354. That is the margin I would need to place the trade on EUR/USD. Hopefully this helps you and sorry for the late reply
Excuse my lack of understanding but does it work in reverse- instead of 3% risk percentage, 100% risk percentage but a stop loss set at 3%?
Can anyone answer this ?
Ethan, do you still trade?
how to calculate leverage
What if I don't know my stop loss pips amount?
Wht is the pips?
How would I round up the lot size if am using mini and micro lot size with what he calculated. Help please
He is literally just round up the number. Mini is 1.1; micro 11
Now how do I calculate my profit
Why you didn't talk about mini lot and micro lots In the calculator.?
hi tradernick
loved watching your video but i have one question.
your information is completely valid but what about the leverage?
for backtesting i used a demo account with 1:2000 leverage and exeuted my position with 2% risk, when the position was executed, i had straightaway 4% in negative
can you please tell how to calculate position size in regards to leverage
broker spread
Pls I seriously need this answer, that $5000 is the leverage calculated to it, or this is the main capital.
Main capital.
Alright thanks so much for the quick reply @@TraderNick
Big fan of the channel thank you but quick question. Does that mean we need $10,869 of capital ? Or do we need to use leverage?
was wondering the same thing, did you ever find an answer ?
How do you calculate the GBP/JPY lot size. I used this on my demo and i did not risk 1% it put me in a much bigger drawdown. Can someone help?

u solve the problem?
My only question is, I have a small account. And only making 0.18 in profit how do I make 100 something? Lol I have been winning a lot and just want to know
So this morning I lost all my money and I couldn’t understand how it happened so now I’m still sad about it and I’ve been trying to develop my own strategy bt even that it’s not working out please help. From South Africa 🇿🇦
Sorry to hear that Akumzi, that is very hard to deal with. All you can do is take a step back, evaluate what went wrong, and go back to the drawing board. I know it's not an easy thing to experience, so best of luck to you.
How can u actually lose all ur money you must be doing something very wrong🤔
1. Your capital was too small to actually risk 1% you’ll be risking too much with a small account like $100 take that 100 and invest in a forex course instead you’ll blow 100 quicker then u can blink it’s way too small
2. You didn’t use risk management you risked too much I always recommend you risk 1% for example a $500 account u risk $5 dollars per trade (use lot size calculator) if u risk 1% and have a 1-4 risk to reward u can lose 3 trades back to back win 1 and make back ur losses plus more
3. You over leveraged because u went on a winning streak and became too confident and excited STICK TO YOUR TRADING PLAN NEVER CHANGE, CHANGE AS YOUR ACCOUNT GROWS
4. Something might be wrong with ur strategy go back and backtest and don’t rely on indicators only (I personally don’t use any)
Hoped this helped dont quit keep going everyone takes losses I’ve blown 2 accounts before I became profitable now I’m very happy stick to it✌🏽
Aleeyaah Lavoisier I think I got too comfortable because everything was going good and then this happened and I also think u are correct when u say I changed something I just need to figure it out anyway thank you I won’t give up
Akumzi Akuva yes keep going and I forgot to add a point make sure u use a stop loss it’s the most important thing in forex
Aleeyaah Lavoisier yes will use all this information because I didn’t have any thank you,I was just winning by luck and it was good so this had to happen so that I can hear new information and learn this is really helpful.
I’m confused. Why do they have to differentiate lots. 2% is .27 standards= 2.7 mini= 27 micro. You don’t do that on MT4 which is what I use
just use standard lots. I use MT4 and it works well
Where did you get that 92 pips? 🙁
The original stop loss (risked pups in red on graph)

Why you guys make it so complicated. Let me give you a simple example. If you have $10k account and you max loss is 1% which means $100 you just should adjust your lot size right before you enter the trade so your SL cannot exceed $100. if your SL is 10 pips then you open 1.00 lot size. If your SL is 20 pips then you open 0.50 lot size etc. If you cannot do this simple calculation then I think it would be better to change your profession😅 ✌️
It's also different based on your base currency, which makes this tool super useful. It's not always a simple conversion if you are trading pairs outside of your base currency.
@@TraderNick I certainly agree with you Nick, the currency pairs do contribute significantly to this calculation.
thanks, Nick
@@TraderNick Okay. This makes sense. I trade mainly gold and major that's why I think like that 😅
@@thatguyilia5239 You too should change your profession, comedy suits you better 😂😂

Low value add video. Here's a calculator and how to use it. Would be more interested in the raw calculations instead of this walkthrough.
