Imagine you try to adjust the air con temperature but you accidentally press one of the transmission mode select buttons. The Germans would have never allowed this design on their cars.
Since this is based on the Stelvio, it would be awesome if Stellantis made the Stelvio and Giulia electric, based on the Grecale. I would insta buy an electric Giulia!

There's something about this car that just screams that it's made on a budget and being passed off as expensive. You just know it has that "press a little too hard on an interior bit and it creaks like a barn door" energy. Great review though!
@@marksapollo Since 2018, just a water pump leaked within warranty time. Replaced for free. No other issues, dealers can be expensive since Alfa and Maserati uses the same service center. So I’d say it’s better than my old Mazda6 which had a faulty transmission!

That heating display looks ridiculous. Whoever thought that was a solution was looking for a problem that doesn't exist. But at least Maserati has a long history of building reliable electronics 🤣 Probably a great car though and I think the interior looks excellent.

The main issue with a digital HVAC/Radio system is its longevity. I car at this price should have the ability to be reviewed in 30 or 40 years as a fantastic classic. Alas, that bottom screen will probably be described instead of viewed when that time comes.
I think the new clock is weird and not all special. Better off without it, IMO. What's wrong with the old analogue? I note analogue dials on watches are not out of fashion!
Why is the MC20’s twin turbo Nettuno V6 detuned for use in the Grecale Trofeo? I believe one reason was so it would be better suited to a car like the Grecale, given the MC20’s higher-revving nature and peakier power and torque curves wouldn’t have been the best fit for a car like this.
Definitely prefer the Stelvio QV compared to this. Not a fan of the awkward proportions/looks of this Grecale. Still not clear why Maserati dragged its feat on this rebadged Alfa. Zero interest in an electric Maserati
Looking good Brian, you must have spent some time in the gym…. Good review but personally I’d have the Macan GTS over this. Also the Macan EV is getting a dedicated platform and architecture not this compromise. The famous trident clock disappearing doesn’t look right. I love the Maserati brand, but they haven’t got their SUVs right IMO.
Too bad about the weather. Pity that so much attention in focused on the infotainment, due to the weather. Agree on the silly lack of real buttons (thanks for the Stelvio!). Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. This would have been a great car if it came out 5 years ago. It appears better then it is because the last Maserati models were so bad but still playing catch up to other brands

The front is just some kind of tragedy. Looks like a stupid fiat 500 crossover or the new ford puma. Maserati, you design with blindfolded eyes? How come you forgot about the Alfieri front design? It was perfect
Looks like they threw a Maserati Symbol on the front of a 2020 Kia Sportage. The front headlights look like it wants to mimic a Porsche Cayenne. Maserati needs to Hire someone who can get a little more Creative. I bet it drives nice either way.

IMO, Fiat/Alfa/Stellantis are continuing to ruin Maserati. A Maserati with a four pot? Come on, it's not supposed to be an Alfa! The MC20 won't save Maserati if the lesser Maseratis are Alfas. And all that mild-hybrid stuff is not to satisfy customers, but to satisfy the regulators. In a way, I'm glad to see this Grecale Trofeo, albeit grossly overpriced. In another way, I think they should have just developed a ground-up EV, and not wasted development money on this. If they needed a stop-gap, maybe they shoud have more simply badge-engineered a Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Okay, that would have made Maserati little more than an Alfa trim level, but could probably get away with it once. IMO, Fiat has pretty much taken Maserati from being the daily or discrete Ferrari to the luxury arm of Alfa Romeo. Maserati, once a bigger name than Ferrari, reduced to being to Alfa what Lexus is to Toyota or more accurtely what Genesis is to Hyundai. I'm sickened by what is happening to Maserati. I'd probably prefer to see the brand killed off like Lancia than see this! I wish someone would buy it and turn it into an Italian Aston Martin, even though that of course isn't an ideal analogy.
