MY PBA TIP OF THE WEEK, DON'T READ.COMMENTS UNTIL YOU HAVE WATCHED THE WHOLE TOURNAMENT. MY REASON IS THAT SOME GUYS JUST LOVE POSTING THE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS ( SPOILERS) NOT CARING THAT MANY PEOPLE DIDN'T SEE THESE LIVE AND WOULD LOVE TO WATCH IT AS IF IT WAS LIVE!!!!
2:30 "Las Vegas, Califorina"? Dave Diles does not know what state he said. It's gotta be "Angeles" but not Vegas. Very offbeat of his commentary at Torrance, California for the PBA Spring Tour.
I wondered....and just verified it. Guppy Troup if Kyle Troup's father. For those who don't know him, Kyle is the 'two-handed' pro bowler who wears the bright flashy clothes and has the large red Afro hair, and also happens to be the winner of 12 titles including 2 'majors'.
He bowled on the tour through 1985. In 1989, his all new bowling center opened. He also owned a pro shop for a long time, and is a coach with a great reputation.
As good as Chris Schenkel was as a compliment in tandem with Bo Burton, I really believe that Dave Dials is better. Just my opinion. Bill Spigner was a jack of all trades and seemingly a master of none. I'm implying that he could bowl well on many different lane conditions but wasn't a king on one as I wished that he was because he is so likeable. And, he always write a great instructional column in Bowlers Journal magazine. I understand that he and his wife, Barbara Urbanek Spigner still write very good columns yet I'm not sure where. Wayne Webb is just excellent. He always has been so calm, cool & calculating. 20 NATIONAL STANDARD PBA TITLES SPEAKS VOLUMES. Ebonite was wise to put him on their staff. I bet that both Webb and Earl sold a lot of balls. And he hosts PBA tournaments at Wayne Webbs Columbus Bowl that are a continuous stop on the tour even today.
58:38 nice Gaylord Perry name drop about 'being creative' with substances...lol. ahh the good ol days. Of course everyone still gets creative to this day....
dettigs Fox Sports is infusing two million dollars into the PBA tour in 2020, it’s sadly needed. The average professional bowler averages $25,000 a year now. The costs to some of the newer professionals is $1800-2200 per tournament for entry fees, and if you don’t cash you lose money. How many professional sports does the athlete have to pay for entry fees instead of drawing a check per contract?
Watched this one in the Enlisted Club on Courthouse Bay at Camp Lejeune, NC. Finishing up engineer school and getting ready to go home. GREAT field!!
Aired on ABC Saturday, June 13, 1981.
Thanks for sharing these old tourneys. :)
John Goodman was in the English Leather commercial at around 17:20.

How exciting were they asshole?
Tom Baker puts tremendous roll on the ball.
There is a word for the gunk that is flicked onto your bathroom mirror while flossing your teeth. Sadly, it escapes me.
You have an unusual collection of commemorative platters.
Do you have anymore PBA classics from 1982?
Andrew Phillips why, do you want to spoil the outcome?
Kyle's Dad Guppy Troup was a Style of his own..
Looking at his clothing, I can see where Kyle gets his liking for flashy bright clothes. Kyle taught himself that '2-handed' delivery though.
18:35 what a great name for a band...'Loud Trousers'....lol 😆
Anyone else find it annoying how Baker plays with his fingers?

Would be worth roughly $60K in 2022.
