As I re-watch these tournaments from the 70s and early 80s I am struck by how well Nelson Burton, Jr. did the color commentary. He and Schenkel were truly the Madden-Summerall of bowling.
It is not easy to try to win 3 games against your fellow pros. Thanks for posting this. There was nothing like Chirs and Nelson with the bowling on Saturdays and then going right to WWOS with the legend Jim McKay.
@@paulberthold932 they have to talk to the lowest common denominator, as in, act like people know nothing about bowling. Thats how they're taught to broadcast

+Mark Bowron Schenkel and Burton were an excellent team!
+Mark Bowron They were also in the Movie Dreamer
And for some reason only Schenkel was in Kingpin, with Burton replaced with a look-alike.
I can barely stand to watch any other bowler than Mark Roth! God bless him with his current health issues.
Alvin Lou....what a unique guy. He was the hot bowler there for an extremely short time, then disappeared. Seemed like a super nice guy.
I'm a big fan of mark Roth
When bowling wasn't ashamed of what it was. I hate what the product has become.
Agreed

I miss that the Professional Bowlers Tour would be on every Saturday then following would be ABC Wild World of Sports
Just a ritual and institution in the late 70s-early 80s in my household
Alvin Lou was in the driver's seat to win the Miller High Life Open
Andrew Phillips nice spoiler asshat
and that was the last time any professional bowler ever left the 1-2-4-7 on national television. :)
Nelson Burton Jr. is so knowledgeable and has great skills. Why didn't he win more tournaments than Anthony or Roth?
Because of Anthony and Roth.
He liked to rope the ball. He came from an era in which they didn't develop their hooking power.
@@KeithFroehlich07 💯 absolutely.
Roth bowled out of at least four different locations in his career.
Sadly this house is long gone :(
Mark Roth !!!
never heard of Mr. Lou. Which is strange since hes bowling on my home lanes lol and he had already won a title
This would be Lou’s last championship match ever. He only made two more telecasts in his career.
Wow, really? As a kid, it seemed that he was on quite a bit...thats crazy
the first match was exciting and very close
Andrew Phillips
Mark Roth and Earl Anthony have bowled some exciting matches
George N. Pappas and Ernie Schlegel have bowled some awesome matches
I really want that sweep signage. How can I go about getting it
I just can’t watch any telecast that includes Tom Baker. That incessant finger tapping drives me insane!
Did Alvin Lou ever make the top 24 again?
He made two more telecasts in his career.
He did but was making way more money running a pro shop business and dropped off the Tour.
First match...Roth vs Danny Partridge
Plastic balls on long oil...gotta love it
Make that 4 games.
Ok..where's the commercials ,and more importantly, where's the ending??get it together mr bowling😒
Poor Moser...misses spare and loses match. Wifey not happy at all.
As a Junior and young adult, Alvin Lou always seemed to have a gorgeous girlfriend. As a grown man, things seem to have taken a very ugly turn.
That was his mom, you idiot.
Are you nuts Mark Bowron. Burton was the worst. He said the most stupid stuff. His tips were ridiculous.
You never had a bowling tips show.
Sounds like a 144 avg wanna be
I loved the telecasts back then , but now looking back, Burton did talk WAY too much about insignificant stuff.
@@paulberthold932 The same way Phil Rizzuto would?

Paul Moser had no luck at all on alleys 63&64.
