Just bought an XLE Premium for $21,173 USD - Ruby Flare Pearl (red). The car gets a ton of second-take looks and everyone wants to know what it is. It's incredible how many people here know so much about this car from watching just one review. The biggest complaint I see listed here is the visibility. In the US it comes standard (even the base XLE - not premium) with the lane-change warning system, so visibility is not necessary; the car tells you if it is unsafe to change lanes. It's got a lot of safety features and modern tech; 10 airbags, lane correction (if you drift from your lane . . . ), rear cross-traffic warning (for when you are backing in a parking lot), back-up sensors for parallel parking, parking-assist, auto cruise control correction (set it and it will follow the car in front at a safe distance - even at radically varying speeds and down to 1 mph; it will return to your set speed when safe to do so) - all standard. It also comes with auto-warning and braking if it senses an immanent front-end collision; and, in the darkness it senses pedestrians in your path if they are out of your headlamp view but pose a danger the car will brake for you (though you can override it). It also comes with a self-correcting paint that will reduce or eliminate minor scratches (if scratched, it releases a chemical to help "self-correct" (haven't tested this yet), heated seats, keyless entry and start (push a button to start - no need to have key to lock or unlock the door, self correcting windshield visor (automatically reduces sun glare), auto dim rear view mirror and many more standard features. There are almost no features you can add to the car other than a roof rack. They all come standard. The car even senses the key FOB in your pocket, so you don't have to pull it out to lock, unlock OR start the car. When you walk away from the car, it automatically locks it. Although the engine is small, it has plenty of get-up-and-go AND it gets an EPA 27-31 MPG. It's not a performance car, but it is not a factor unless you are insistent on driving like a fool. Under normal driving conditions it has plenty of power - even going up hills. I found a noticeable difference using the sport mode (more pick-up and stiffer suspension). The cargo area is huge for this class - and our 2nd row seats lie flat. Rear passengers can put their feet under the seat, adding about 4-6" of legroom. There is adequate room for two full-size adults in the back to sit in comfort (unless you're over 6'). If you regularly transport a basketball team, this car may not be for you; but for the rest of us, it's reasonably spacious. The interior is a mix of leather (steering wheel cover, shift nob cover and some small trim parts) and plastic. But the plastic is not that cheap hollow plastic found in crappy rental cars. All the nobs and interior parts have a nice solid feel to them. The seats grab you nicely and hold the passenger in-place when cornering (6-way adjustable for both front passengers). My only complaint is the cheap-feeling fabric. I bought a couple faux-leather seat covers that look pretty decent and will protect the fabric. Overall, I think we got a great price for a great car . . . especially being in the SF Bay Area. We negotiated pretty hard, playing dealers off of each other over the phone and internet. We paid an extra $392 for the red color, but that was for business purposes to match our logo. Even with that, the price for the XLE Premium was amazing at $21,173 - especially since the MSRP is around $26,000. It's amazing how many people seem to be experts on this car w/o having even driven it. Guess it makes them feel cool to trash something they know nothing about . . .
A few more features I forgot to mention (I'll just list them): 1. 18" alloy wheels 2. Auto-folding mirrors (when you park) for parking lots 3. Auto-dimming hi-beams (senses when a car is too close for hi-beams) and returns to hi-beam mode when safe 4. Telescoping steering wheel 5. Bluetooth connectivity 6. Voice recognition and integrated microphone/speaker 7. Dual climate control 8. Heated mirrors (premium) 9. Auto-parking brake set (sets brake when you park) 10. Auto-hold braking (when you stop at a stop light it holds your car place until you press the accelerator - no need to keep foot on brake That's a lot of useful features for a $21,000 car!
Lots of interesting points. I test drove the 1.8 Hybrid last week. I'm conflicted. It was quite snug inside and you really feel as if it is cosseting. Took me a while to realize the beeps were lane departure warnings. I don't have kids and rarely drive with more than two people in the car, so don't really care about what people see in the back. My main issues were getting used to the whine of the electric motor (up and down - first time in a hybrid), very little oomph when putting your foot down on the motorway (so over taking could be an issue, and you need to have confidence that the car will get you out of trouble if needed) and real world economy, as I'm not sure that most of the driving I do would be in electric only mode. But apart from that I really love the look of it. Dark colors are better because of the way light bounces off the surfaces. Here in Europe we don't need muscle cars because we don't have the open highways that are in the States. Too many cars vying for too little motorway space. I'm always fascinated by people who drive a small family car and say it's not very fast, then when they push it to it's limits say they're disappointed with the fuel economy. If you want a Ferrari don't get a Toyota and instead pay 20 times the price for speed and no comfort. The reviewer's driving style would probably be more suited to a Mini Cooper S and not a small compact SUV. What on earth does he expect?
Thanks for your comment Brian Isaacson. All the salty reviews were beginning to sway me from being the C-hr but now I want it again like before except I want the limited version. Thanks again
Proud to have this car Leased for $1000 down $260 monthly! Can’t drive much over 70 in our state of WA without getting a ticket so not sure why everybody’s so worried about speed! AWD. Who needs that? If you have a Toyota Tundra in the garage! Funny I only needed 4x4 once in the last 6 years to get through some mud 10 feet LOL people are delusional on there needs
I love my new CHR, had it for a week. Just did a 19 hour trip. Comfortable and had a lot of room for luggage. It handled bumps really well. The screen is very easy to navigate. Only filled up a couple of times. It was great on cruise. The back head rests fold down and the they all come out for better visibility in the back. I have the 2021 and my visors have extenders.
I bought 1.2 l Turbo XLE Premium. It has a beautiful Modellista Body kit which runs below the black edges which gives the vehicle a greater look. Its Pearl White and colour projection is awesome. Earlier had a Civic 1.8 L and still love this which is modern and unique in its own rights.
I just went shopping around for a new vehicle. I did my research on vehicles i was interested in and came down to a Mazda 3 hatchback...the Mazda CX3 and this. I test drove all of them and found the mazdas to be nice and sporty but loud, uncomfortable over bumps and bad road conditions and they seemed less dependable. Nothing that made me break my poker face around the salesmen...lol I tried the C-HR and i loved it. The ride feels very refined. Like something in a high end SUV. The seats were amazingly comfortable and the cabin was quiet. (Much more so then the mazdas.) It was fun to drive and handled the corners great. Yes it wasnt as fast, but i don't need a race car. That being said, I had no issue getting onto the highways or passing anyone. The styling is great and i loved the look inside and out. The economy is great especially for the class, and the safety features far surpass anything you can get in other vehicles in this segment. I drive every day for a living, so I needed something dependable, good on gas, and i was looking for something different....that you dont see driving all over the place. This ticked every box I had. Not to mention, even when trying to keep my best poker face in front of the saleperson...I couldnt help but giggle as I drove it. People say its more expensive, its not. The one i bought was the premier version and I got it at 21k. Brand new. Not to mention all those safety features adds to the cost. Which is why alot of them are not even offered by the competitors. Add to that toyotas known reliability and good resale value and i just couldnt justify choosing anything else over this vehicle. Also remember, those who complain about no all wheel drive or hybrid.....those add cost. You add those options and you start heading into the 30k range, which isnt what this type of vehicle is meant to compete with. Overall Im so glad I chose to get the C-HR and look forward to many reliable low cost years of driving it ahead...lol :-)
Shadownian I am thinking about this vehicle down the road, as I’m in a Volkswagen lease at the moment.....I did not test drive it ~but really like it .......Would love to see a pic of yours.
Have had my CH-R since 2021 (now 2023.) No problems at all... just routine oil changes (every 5,000 miles). Not a fan of CVT's, but it's way better than the one on the Chevy Spark I had (that one was frightening!). MPG's avg. 33 - 34 mostly suburban driving, though I live in flat Florida,, so no hills to strain the engine. Front seat is SOOOO comfortable (I have power seats on the Limited). With my back problems, that was very important and wiped out a lot of the competitors I tried. The ride is nice and noise is, I would say, better than average in this class. Great build quality; no rattles, clunks, etc. The down sides: yeah, rear visibility sucks, so you have to rely on back-up camera and side mirrors with collision warning when merging. Cargo space is not great due to styling, so my Greyhound's back touched the roof when he stood up LOL! As for handling, it's o.k. Not sporty, like a VW, and going around turns while picking up speed can cause this squirrely feeling like the rear is slipping out a bit which creates a side-to-side bobbing motion. Not talking crazy take-offs, just pulling out on a left turn from intersection does it. That is annoying, but not dangerous. Love the unique looks of it and the fit and finish. Radio is fine. No start-stop nonsense or turbos that will cause expenses down the road. Simple, nice, fun car with good MPG's and a love-it-hate-it look. Happy with my choice!
I’ve had mine for a few weeks and I like it. It’s fun to drive and contrary to other comments, I find it accelerates very well. Yes, the engine makes noise, engines used to do that for you younger guys. However, it goes up to 6K very well. I like the interior design and hard plastic. Did anyone notice the C-HR got 5 out of 5 stars on the crash tests? Yes, it’s missing a few things like moon roof, SiriusXM and Navigation. There’s also no CD player. CDs are also going if anyone’s noticed. Yet, I bought an iPod Nano 6th gen, put my music on it and it works great plugged into the USB port. Charges while playing. As for room, I’m 5’10” and have plenty of room and head room. For the overly critical, all I can say is if you don’t like how cool it is then go drive a Honda or whatever. Nobody’s making you buy it. Toyota did a great job bringing their concept car to market with few changes. It is definitely one of the coolest looking cars in Toyota’s lineup but is not for everyone. Taking it on a road trip next week and looking forward to it. The safety features make it a joy to drive and speed is not an issue! More than once I have gone to 90mph without realizing it. The auto folding mirrors are a blast along with the puddle light projections. I also like the bake ‘Hold’ feature and the electronic parking brake. No more hand or foot brakes! The 18” wheels are beautiful as is the car itself. I fully expect to have a lot of fun driving this vehicle as I pay for it. And yes, I would buy it again in a heartbeat!!! Thank you Toyota for bringing the C-HR to America’s market. I would like a moonroof, SiriusXM and navigation next go around!
Hi everyone, I'm from Ireland and bought the 2019 Toyota C-HR Hybrid Sports New in April and if anyone is interested to know about the power... well, I don't have an issue with it, I did some overtaking to other cars and there was no problem.. other things I experience at present are I encountered so many second looks and some people would even tell me that I have a great car (He was driving a Kona), and, many children playing on the road in the estate I'm living would not notice me coming because the electric engine is so quiet, and about fuel consumption, at the moment I'm doing 17km/l on motorways and around 20km/l on city driving, happy to have this car, so many safety features, I'm very satisfied. Thanks.
I live in Canada and I was driving this car this morning and the side windows and front windshield I couldn't see out of danger hazard. Talk to me goose
bought one today for my wife but,,, dude u just don't like the car I get it man wow the steering wheel hurt your hands lol my wife loves it and u need to use the sports mode for nice driving also if I watched this only I wouldn't have bought the car and the gas mileage is great u drive the car like u racing every driver u see
I hate when people judge cars from a different perspective than they were design for. This is a point A to point B type of car, not a racing car. A high MPG, reliable car that if you take care of it can give you 150K plus miles maybe more.
I had the same one for a year and a half and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately last month a lady crashed my car and it became a total lost but it's such a nice SUV and also economic.
I drive BMW's ..have two. Bought this car on a lark because I liked it's looks and interior...damned good driving control. Vehicle sits high, I do note the blind spot on the side, but the sensors on the folding mirrors alert you, if you are paying attention to your driving and dont have your radio on blast. 4 cylinder 144 hp...does well. Seats were comfortable. I am 6/2, weigh 220. I frankly like this car. I like the style. If I want speed, I drive my M2 and can hit 160, so I know what speed and power are...I also know you get what you pay for....and you negotiate with the dealer and get a good deal on this car....you get a good driving car with interesting styling. I can get 30 mpg on this car. I have the Premium model. Yes, I have driven Hondas, Jeeps, Kia's, VW's, more cars then a used car lot has, and I have been on the autobaun in Porche and Mercedes. I can find fault in every car...even a Rolls. So drive one of these and make your own mind up. By the way...define "Funky', your initital approach indicated you had already made up your mind before you even opened the door.
Coming from a 2018 Toyota Chr XLE Premium owner, GET A CROSSTRECK OR COROLLA! The gas is below 25 mpg, AND YOU ONLY GET 200 MILES PER FULL TANK. Its fairly loud and very bumpy and overall not that comfortable to drive!
I have the exact one. I love it. Not much space but I dont need. I love my car.i clear curbs all day,no problem. Blind spot sucks but I've gotten use to using my mirrors. Over all 4 out of 5. Full tank last me 2 weeks, I dont drive to fare tho.
Drove the 2017 one, ultimately ended up getting a Chevy Trax. The 6 speed auto feels way better than the CVT, in my opinion. Gas mileage is worse but there's more room for stuff when I put the seats down (can fit two bikes). The radio was also wayyyy better.
Seems it's made for young people with low budget, fully loaded is $25K, not bad at all. You may not get a lot of options but you do get Toyota reliability.
I didn't know that US Spec models are made in Japan; European specs are made in Turkey. Toyota needs to do the following: 1) Add a strong motor with AWD 2) add glass/visibility to the blinding C pillar 3) add LED rear taillights 4) lighter interior fabrics 5) Sunroof. I think in 2019 they will update this model. Hopefully navi and apple car play come avail.
I had a dream yeah? It was where I had the electric unicycle thing and it had a turbo and did 0-60 in 3.0 seconds. I was racing against you, Chris, and you were in the tesla! It was a weird dream TBH but I wouldn't mind a turbo unicycle
I am also 5‘10“ and looking for a new vehicle at this point so far I think I’m going to stop on a Honda accord but this one is very pretty I hope you can tell me yourself which one you like more I have a daughter who is 16 and there’s just two of us
Disappointed that you talked about the sport mode but didn't know how to access it. I would have thought you would have investigated that as a driving option for the video.
It doesn't come in a hybrid format because this car, as well as the Toyota Corolla Hatchback are based on the old Matrix/Vibe line. I in fact own a Vibe and saw a lot of similarities as well as a few differences. The most notable difference to me was the smoother take-off rather then my car having a jerky one. I will say though that this does make the car more anemic feeling.
Toyota ruined this car for me when decontented it so much for the us model: no hybrid, no sunroof, no power seats, no leather, no xm radio, no navigation, no parking sensors, no led lights or signals, it's just so stupid
Well speaking on a business term, the market is shifting again. Sooner or later, people won’t want suv/cuv styles vehicles again. Toyota is going out on a thin limb here so it would be in best interest to give a taste of this vehicle to the market and see where it stands. If the C-HR does good in the first few years then we will see updates and potentially new generations
I owned a HRV and i really love it... Not bad actually but i see this CHR the looks is not bad too but the price kinda begs a question. Really depends on perspective
You quite often say that all interior plastics are very hard on the inside. It is obvious to me that Toyota messed up the spec in the US completely. The EU spec (I drove the hybrid) has way better materials, like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather details on the dashboard, and a cloth trim on the doors. I really liked it a lot, everything is well designed although it indeed doesn't have a very practical backside. The CVT asks for a non-sporty driving style, which doesn't match up with the looks on the outside. I find it to be very comfortable though, as long as you don't floor the throttle.
I'd really like to see you test out an Acura MDX, the new Ford Expedition, GMC Acadia, Honda Pilot and Odyssey, Mazda CX-9, VW Atlas, as well as the Q50 from Infiniti. I know certain press cars are difficult to get a hold of but even just one or two of these would be great.
All they needed to do was put more effort into the inside than outside. There's no point getting this. There's no headroom pretty much. It's slow for 144hp aswell. They just need a better engine and turbo'd
Loving the car and front seats, wouldnt really worry about rear passengers the few times i would have them in my car. Short driven the hybrid and for now i think its nice. I do think their should be more power in the hybrid and apple/android play should be in the audiocsystem.
This is the kind of lag you get with CVT transmission. It is not unique to Toyota, I drive a Nissan Rogue (X-Trail), the 2 litre lags the same. If one desires a better responsiveness, then they should look more at the dual crutch transmission.
Gear one one a manual CHR is bad, gear 2 is when your acceleration really kicks in. The cruise control doesnt work properly in a road with parked cars. It slows down very quickly when it sees the back of a parked car and the car behind you can hit you. Cruise control works well on an empty long road thata flat and not steep or anything!
26k? I could get a pre-owned 2018 Camry with leather seats, SS-P, nav, sunroof (maybe pano), heated seats, full LED headlights/daytime running lights,29-41 mpg and less than 10k miles on the odo. Complete that with a 2019 software update I get carplay.
I love my car, this car, but its slow. Floor it, it doesn't go anywhere. Happy with carplay, blind spot monitoring and backup camera which is all I need. sunroof is severely needed. interior is very dark.
I test drove this last year and my dealer had a hard time convincing me with this. One of the biggest disappointments, for me, living in Toledo (hello neighbor) is that it's not AWD. I was looking to get this for my wifey as something reliable to drive in the harsh winter snow storms etc. I do not get the point of this car at all unfortunately.
sic22l more inline with Prius C size to be honest but like I said the only reason is selling now is because of the incentives Toyota is throwing in at the moment.
@Rain Santiago It's one step above the Prius C, it's both longer and wider. It's basically a Prius, slightly shorter, slightly wider and taller (they share the same platform).
In early 70's I had a Mustang Mach I and even though I LOVED it, it was very difficult to deal with the blind spots on each side. I am looking for a new Toyota (mine is Corolla 2006 great condition except for the paint). I passed a dealership and saw this bright RED little car and I knew I had to stop and take a look. It was a Toyota C-HR premium, 2018, 36,000 miles, 17,000!! It is a beautiful car, almost what I was looking for... until I saw the blind spots :( I am not as young as I was in the 70's, don't think I can deal with them and the cameras. I need to check the Honda HR-V which is similar but the back sides are different from Toyota. Or maybe I should just go with another corolla... If anyone has a Honda HR-v, please let me know about it.
While testing acceleration you mention the car is pretty sluggish around the 6:14 and 6:32 mark. But then you say you have no complaints with the acceleration at 13:27 mark. I think you lose alot of credibility contradicting yourself, don't you think?
This car is begging to be electrified. An electric version, with like 180-200 hp and 200-220tq would be excellent in this. An upgraded leather interior with a pano roof would also work.
I'm looking to get a used one tbh. I drive an 09 Dodge caliber and it's barely pulling along now. I don't care for a super big or super fancy car. I just want a small SUV like car (this for example or a Hyundai Kona) that drives good. Think it would be worth it for a decent price?
No v6...no sunroof.. This crossover should Have also been made A little bigger... 26,000 is to much.. i own a 2015 dodge Charger it has 300 hp And gets 26 city 31 freeway. Toyota needs to fix this Awesome looking ch-r..
This vehicle is one of the slowest that Toyota makes (as in bordering on dangerously slow), and it's massively lacking on features. They could have done a hell of a lot better. The new Camry is amazing. The next RAV4 will be amazing. Even the newer Priuses are halfway decent, though I'd never own one.
Not to mention good-looking (oh believe me, the new Camry and Avalon are some of the most beautiful products I've seen from Toyota thus far). In addition, I'm hoping that the next RAV4 and Corolla will look just as good as both of them. Additionally, at first I thought the new Prius looked weird, but it has slightly grown on me overtime, but the C-HR looks cute to me if quirky to some people. ...and I'm hoping to see more of Toyota's future vehicles to ride on TNGA eventually (ex: the upcoming Highlander, Sienna, Yaris, etc)
I'm sure they will - TNGA was designed from the ground up to be used for just about anything. And it's a good thing too - easily the best platform Toyota has ever released.
As far as I know they have the XLE premium and everything on this review it had it there such as leather and such now not sure about the 2018 version I do the 2019 has it I say this because I just bought mine and I absolutely love it keep in mind is toyota is a not camaro don't EVER expect toyota to build a 300HP machine they are not into that business they are a family oriented type of cars if you are looking for those cars look elsewhere this car I personally consider it to be a family car with a touch of a good design I had a Camaro 2010 V8 and compared to this I wish Toyota would've come up with this back them before I got my camaro... but very smooth handling and driving is awesome sun roof? nah don't care for it perhaps in my camaro times I would've of but now I think I outgrown the fast cars and big engines type of cars for a more family oriented one with a touch of style or funkyness as this video calls it...!

That's a lot of useful features for a $21,000 car!
If you got it for $22K XLE premium model than yeah it a good deals. MSRP $27K is just BS.

U shud install the automatic rear door. Its out there already in market n it will make it more premium look

I dont care how much hate this gets. Still want it. I oove its uniqueness!!
right?
ugh, I was supposed to graduate from college and get one immediately but life had other plans! But congrats on the car! :)
great! what color did you get? Im thinking of getting the radiant green, but i think they charge you extra!
Jade Crystal how is it now? I am planning to get one. Do you recommend ?
This Guy is Bratty and a COMPLAINER!!! LOVE THIS CAR!!! I WAS JUST BLESSED WITH A C-HR! NICE CAR!!!
Nothing that made me break my poker face around the salesmen...lol
I tried the C-HR and i loved it.
Overall Im so glad I chose to get the C-HR and look forward to many reliable low cost years of driving it ahead...lol
:-)
So you are a Toyota salesman, nice try.
Are u still enjoying it?
give it the camry's 2.5 with the 203 hp and the 8 speed and this will be nice.
yeah and we in Europe have C-HR with 1.2 turbo 85kw and 1.8 hybrid 90kw, so be greatful for the 2.0 :D
Thanks.
Looking Good, runs good and last longer than all the cars on the road. I will get one soon.
I live in Canada and I was driving this car this morning and the side windows and front windshield I couldn't see out of danger hazard. Talk to me goose
The first time I ever saw this car I was like "Damn, some RAV4 did some acid.".
Love my CHR!
bought one today for my wife but,,, dude u just don't like the car I get it man wow the steering wheel hurt your hands lol my wife loves it and u need to use the sports mode for nice driving also if I watched this only I wouldn't have bought the car and the gas mileage is great u drive the car like u racing every driver u see
This was a terrible review. Nit picks about everything. He needs a life. Glad you enjoy the chr
Here ine Belgium the C-HR is available with 2 engines : 1.2 turbo 116 bhp manual or CVT and 1.8 Hybrid 122 bhp (same as Prius 4)
Thanks. Don't be afraid to get critical and trash on a bad car. Too many YT reviews out there that can't get the balls to call a car bad.
vipermoon64 well he spoke no good words about the C-HR so...
I think it drives ok, toyota just discontented the shit out of the US model which is a shame.
don't be too harsh on this car.....i hear it handles VERY well. Sharp steering and double wishbone rear suspension. Slow but sporty.
My wife drives the exact same model and she loves it. I like the handing. Only complaint I agree with this video is the sluggish acceleration from 0.
I saw this car on the dealership floor and I just felt a cold rush of disappointment imagining the design of cars in the future
This is the first review I’ve watched that you didn’t say nice things 🙂
Wow! That interior design and exterior design... Toyota is on a roll!
The radio was also wayyyy better.
adobewanjerkobi what 2017 this just came out
Luis Dominguez pardon, it was a 2018, my iPhone SE screen is tiny. The Trax I ended up getting is a 2017 model though.
Seems it's made for young people with low budget, fully loaded is $25K, not bad at all. You may not get a lot of options but you do get Toyota reliability.
I have this car it’s not the best car but it still works to take me from distance A to b. It’s just a car.
Ashley Perez Where is C to D.?
Ashley Perez why buy this when you can get a better vehicle for the same price tho? And it’ll take you to point A to B
2.0! In the UK we only get the 1.2 4 cyl turbo for both hybrid and non hybrid.
I didn't know that US Spec models are made in Japan; European specs are made in Turkey. Toyota needs to do the following:
1) Add a strong motor with AWD 2) add glass/visibility to the blinding C pillar 3) add LED rear taillights 4) lighter interior fabrics 5) Sunroof.
I absolutely LOVE mine
How does it handle in the snow??
I am also 5‘10“ and looking for a new vehicle at this point so far I think I’m going to stop on a Honda accord but this one is very pretty I hope you can tell me yourself which one you like more I have a daughter who is 16 and there’s just two of us
get a camry for that price range, all you get is a faster time and space.....smart thinking ;)
I love this car. This guy is a debbie downer!
ikr he made me feel like I shouldn't be wanting this car
Toyota ruined this car for me when decontented it so much for the us model: no hybrid, no sunroof, no power seats, no leather, no xm radio, no navigation, no parking sensors, no led lights or signals, it's just so stupid
azera55555 totally agree
Well speaking on a business term, the market is shifting again. Sooner or later, people won’t want suv/cuv styles vehicles again. Toyota is going out on a thin limb here so it would be in best interest to give a taste of this vehicle to the market and see where it stands. If the C-HR does good in the first few years then we will see updates and potentially new generations
Surprisingly most of thise things are available for the C-HR in the rest of the world.
Yeah that was my point. For the U.S. model it's just a boring crossover that doesn't have features that you'd expect.
azera55555 don’t forget no AWD
The Honda HR-V is much nicer
The people who are bashing Chris for Being negatives about this car are the Toyota fans
Hey does your chr make a whining transmission noise when accelerating or slowing down??? Mine does and I believe I heard it in yours too
It’s cause of the CVT. Those noises are normal
I love when car companies do radical body styles. I dig it. Kinda sick of all the shared, just swap the grille and headlights body styles of todat
i have this car in 1.2L awd and it is so nice to drive.. smooth steering and handling good on petty.. what else do you want
Everyone watching this dont listen to him. He is hating a lot on this car but i just bought and its great trust me you will not regret buying its
some of the complaints are ridiculous
Why is “holding the steering wheel, hurts my hands” the fault of the car? That’s the driver!
Same height as you my friend and I complained less than you how is it possible... its called bias
All they needed to do was put more effort into the inside than outside. There's no point getting this. There's no headroom pretty much. It's slow for 144hp aswell.
They just need a better engine and turbo'd
I never understood why Toyota selected this powertrain for this car. The 2/5 with the 8-speed would surely work far better.
Just use "sport mode" for better acceleration!
My cousin’s wife wants one of these, I’d just get a Camry.
Omoplata1916 This Car looks so shitty holy shit
Omoplata1916 Id just go with a civic way more reliable more technology and bang for your buck
The Regulators honda’s aren’t as reliable as before.
Mata Leão or get a rav4
Gear one one a manual CHR is bad, gear 2 is when your acceleration really kicks in. The cruise control doesnt work properly in a road with parked cars. It slows down very quickly when it sees the back of a parked car and the car behind you can hit you. Cruise control works well on an empty long road thata flat and not steep or anything!
This car makes my Nissan juke look 10 times better.
i got this car 1.2 awd and its fun has everything you need
To me it looks nice but without an AWD, I don’t think many will sell. I’ve only seen a few on the road.
AWD is available in some markets
C-HR is ultra high performance coupe crossover!
26k? I could get a pre-owned 2018 Camry with leather seats, SS-P, nav, sunroof (maybe pano), heated seats, full LED headlights/daytime running lights,29-41 mpg and less than 10k miles on the odo. Complete that with a 2019 software update I get carplay.
Kinda looks like if Honda crv and a Nissan juke had a baby together.
Dude why didnt you change driver setting into sports mode? It'll make a difference
Yes it does I use it alot. 😁
I do not get the point of this car at all unfortunately.
if you wanted awd go buy a subaru
Basically it’s a lifted Toyota Yaris hatchback but slower. Car companies need to start offering better power to weight ratio it.
It's a lifted Prius, much bigger than Yaris.
sic22l more inline with Prius C size to be honest but like I said the only reason is selling now is because of the incentives Toyota is throwing in at the moment.
@Rain Santiago
It's one step above the Prius C, it's both longer and wider.
If you’re worried about blind spots you should test drive some Subaru’s. They have a very good greenhouse
This car is amazing! Why... cause it's a Toyota!
While testing acceleration you mention the car is pretty sluggish around the 6:14 and 6:32 mark. But then you say you have no complaints with the acceleration at 13:27 mark. I think you lose alot of credibility contradicting yourself, don't you think?
0:28 I wonder If little kids can reach that door handle?
The car is about 5 feet tall, they would have no problem
WORD OF THE DAY "FUNKY"
We get a decent little turbo with this here in Australia,
You can get a Camry with better options for the same price.
Nice car unique design in our country .
Do A Driving Test with the Nissan Juke....
pick mine up in 4 days. LOVE IT
great video keep up the good work
This car is begging to be electrified. An electric version, with like 180-200 hp and 200-220tq would be excellent in this.
An upgraded leather interior with a pano roof would also work.
Yep. And if they can manage to make it under 30k, these will sell like hotcakes.
Have the same color but white roof
Xplicit_Kid15 me too. Does yours get you attention and comments also like mines does?
I think the styling is great. I wish it was an EV.
Nice camera view
In 2021 you can get this car for $14k - $16k with low miles.
And it's generally just me and my GF so don't care about much back room.
Looks like it has plenty for the few times I'll use the seats
Where i live we have a hybrid version and a 1.2 litre turbo engine but no 2.0 litre engine
Everybody is complaining about the wind and roadnoise
I would definitely get one if they offered a turbo charged motor around 200hp. And manual.. But no..
sport mode makes the c-hr more responsive.
this car needs turbo 220 for that price and dual clutch TRans
I've actually seen more elderly people driving this and the Juke. Kia Soul and Juke destroy this.
$26k... seriously? You can get a Civic EX-L with the 1.5t engine that will absolutely blow this thing out of the water in almost every category.
I would love this car if they put a better engine and a real auto transmission in it
I wanted one of these cause i thought it would look and have better features than HRV Honda but i guess i was wrong.
No v6...no sunroof..
This crossover should
Have also been made
A little bigger...
26,000 is to much..
i own a 2015 dodge
Charger it has 300 hp
And gets 26 city 31 freeway.
Toyota needs to fix this
Awesome looking ch-r..
When they bring the awd one to usa I consider this model
Where this video was made? I really liked it
Hi, can you please review 2017 Infiniti QX50, QX70, Q50 3.0t, and Q50S. Much appreciated. Thank you.
Let's not forget the recently all-new Avalon, and likely the next Corolla too.
Yep. Pretty much all of the vehicles on their new TNGA platform are fantastic, well-built, and fairly fun to drive.
Not to mention good-looking (oh believe me, the new Camry and Avalon are some of the most beautiful products I've seen from Toyota thus far). In addition, I'm hoping that the next RAV4 and Corolla will look just as good as both of them.
Additionally, at first I thought the new Prius looked weird, but it has slightly grown on me overtime, but the C-HR looks
cute to me if quirky to some people.
...and I'm hoping to see more of Toyota's future vehicles to ride on TNGA eventually (ex: the upcoming Highlander, Sienna, Yaris, etc)
I'm sure they will - TNGA was designed from the ground up to be used for just about anything. And it's a good thing too - easily the best platform Toyota has ever released.
Totally agreed.
My 2015 Accord 4door 4cyl cvt is doing 36 mpg highway.
Such a strange looking car. Why the heck didn't they transfer the Scion TC over.
