- Well I wasn't expecting to have problems with powdercoating my wheels, but this Peel Coat came in handy and made my "M5" wheels look mint! I look forward to seeing how these things clean up, especially after we get some brake dust going on. I'll update you later with some photos on the community tab!

I would just keep an eye out for factory rims. If you are spending the $ may as well go with a square set up too. Made a huge difference on my e90 getting rid of the staggered wheels.
I love the Styling 65!
Looks amazing! 🤩
Greetings from Germany!
I would keep an eye out for an OEM set. the aftermarket set do look much better now
Hey would this work if the wheels were bronze at first ??
The aftermarket wheels wouldn't be worth fixing because u can probably get used oem just make sure their not bent or cracked and u should be good..if u can't get used oem u can just get new aftermarket..either way good job with the wheels
Thanks for the kind words, NY! Yeah these wheels turned into a mini-nightmare but I think I'll save my time/money for a genuine set of wheels, ones that can be refinished professionally without CHROME underneath... :)
Looks good, better than the blac
Those rims realy look like they needed a glass bead treatment :) Did you aim at getting the shadow chrome effect to look as OEM as possible? If yes, the shadow chrome "formula" is no longer a secret guarded by monks in BMW monastery in Munich. it can be done with a spray gun. It's true that people had issues with refurbishing thier wheels due to unique way the chrome shadow is achieved, but nowadays the technology is avaliable out there. The BMW OEM paint code is A56 and it's applied over a layer of black base. The downside is you can't just paint one wheel to match the rest, you have to do all 5 of them at once.
Yeah, I heard you can do it that way, but I would definitely need to get rid of the chrome on these first. I actually like the alloy silver look better with the dark color of my car though! It pops out a bit more :)
An oem m5 set would be best. But it really looks great now. Nice finish too. Regards Nico.
LOOKS SO GOOD!
Thanks 😊 I like this color a lot too. Think it plays well with the dark blue
How wide are the rims on the back?
Anything silicone based sprayed in the same room prior, WF40 and the like will cause the fish eyes
The rear tires look too big compared to the front.
How well do the aftermarket wheels balance? If they are true and straight, repair them. OEM wheels are going to be expensive, very expensive.
I'm trying to figure out if they are good now. I think I need to get them re-balanced or check out the tires. They are giving me some shake at high speed. Hoping it's just a bad balance.
@@TheBimmerBarn make sure they are road force balanced. I’m afraid all the refinishing and paint are going to make them tough to balance.
You need to go to a 275 35 18. I'm running that size on my 540 and have no problems. Not sure if there is a difference on the rear track between a sedan and wagon tho
Yeah I got these tires for cheap (used) and couldn't pass up the deal. Now I realize how much a difference that 5mm taller difference makes.
Track is the same. Wagon has bigger wheel liners , suposedly you can run wider tires on a wagon vs. A sedan. Similar liners / fender lip to the m5.
Thumbs up for the street fighter perfect
Is it me or at 3:28 it looks like an alien 👽
I would not destroy the fenders for a tire size....
Should be 275/35/18 in the back
Find a set of M5 rears and run a square setup.
GOALS RIGHT HERE
if you find a new set i will buy the old ones
Should be 35 series on the rear, 40 series in the front
Believe it or not I'm getting an abs error after 60mph when the car notices the front wheels are going a different speed than the rear. Don't be like me, get the right sizes! 😅
I have a set of the bbs factory wheels that I will sell
Its nickle plate under the chrome
The previos owner chromed my real 20" style 32's at cali chrome (for my e39 touring) I paid to have them profesionaly refinished and straiten out one minor lip ding. Removed the chrome. Was pricey , but so worth it.
Nickel! Atleast you had real wheels... If these were real there's no doubt I would put the money in. What kind of pricey are we talking about?
@@TheBimmerBarn all 4 , just over 1k. I could have had them done for 400 at a more local place, but I went with a shop that had 5 axis machines to balamce and make the wheels strait. They had over 1.5 million invested in wheel equipment.
@@drewdavis239 Sounds accurate. Thanks for sharing
wheels offset is not for that car - be original not wanna be
They look worse, but to each their own
You know what they say, you can't polish a turd 😂
