Donna had one of the most powerful but natural voices of all time !!! PERIOD!!! Solely underestimated , I fell in love 77/78 when I rushed to the record shop with my first wage to buy LOVES UNKIND . BEAUTIFUL LADY inside and out rip Donna 😘
I still have this radio documentary on cassette, taped when it first aired on K-EARTH 101 in Los Angeles in the late 70's. Granted it's suffered some wear over the years but I feel lucky to still own it after long.
i adore Donna Summer, but i honestly considered Diana Ross to have been the first modern day pop superstar. Especially the first *Black* modern day pop superstar!
No offence but Donna Summer was a greater singer and wider artist. Her vocals covers a multitude of genres and and styles. Not trying to take anything from Diana Ross.
@S. M. There were heaps of black female artists from the 60's Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Brenda Lee, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Ella Fitzgerald, Tina Turner, Nina Simone, Ronnie Spector and many others. There were also many black female groups like the Supremes, Fifth Dimension. The Three Degrees. The Shirelles, Martha and the Vandellas, The Ikettes, The Ronettes, Black artists have been recorded since recording began in the 20's.
The song should be categorized, not the artist. Great point.

Oops...I guess it was 1980 not the late 70's.
Without a doubt, Donna recorded several musical genres, showing that she was above all a musical interpreter.
Ha scandito la mia gioventu'...mi e'sempre piaciuta.....la sua musica...la sua voce....la sua vita esemplare...sono e saro'per sempre un suo fans....
I love this and Donna you're right!
Loving Donna's inspirational quotes re the music industry
Great documentary of Donna. Thanks for upload it.
Thanks for uploading :)
excellent! but how can one hear part 2?
Didn't realize how she hated the way she was portrayed as the queen of disco. In later years Donna said at least she was the queen of something

Donna would probably agree with you.
Same here.
