- How to Play the 2-Finger Flamenco Guitar Rasgueado: i-a-i. Exercises and close-up view included.
The 2-finger rasgueado (I-A-I) is very unique to flamenco guitar although it can certainly be used in classical or any other genre. This technique is played with by contracting the I (index) finger and then extending A (middle) and I (index) to get a triplet feel. This rasgueado is always played with clear rhythmic separation between the fingers. When you play it, make sure that you hear even spacing between each finger. In this video, I share examples of the I-A-I rasgueado and share a few exercises so that you can develop this technique correctly. This video is appropriate for beginner & intermediate students of both flamenco and classical guitar.

Thinking of how to apply this to other types of music.
So this is my 3rd video on the series (rasseados).
Thanks for introducing me.
Particularly, thanks for taking time to explain the ease of the technique .

Muchas gracias Maestro.
Excelent
why i cant play with the middle one instead of anual? it feels much easier this way.
Thanks for sharing this great question that I’m sure others have as well! You actually can! I-a-I is the most common combination but some guitarists use I-m-I instead. As long as your fingering works and does not cause unnecessary tension then it’s good.
@@DiegoAlonsoMusic thank you very much. i will for the time being try both and see how it goes after few month. only started to try rasqueados like mid july, so it still feel slightly akward. i was steel string player my whole life...
I was taught A down I DOWN then I up. Is that wrong?
Not at all. You can start with any finger so long as the pattern is the same overall. All of these are correct: 1) A⬇︎-I⬇︎-I⬆︎, 2) I⬇︎-I⬆︎-A⬇︎, & 3) I⬆︎-A⬇︎-I⬇︎. Thanks for commenting!
