I wondered if you controlled the muscles or let the hand flop. No one else talked about that. Thank you.

This is often called a "triplet rasgueo" - using thumb-middle-thumb (p-m-p......p is thumb), and if you practice slowly - you can do it while just sitting watching television - and build up the speed it is very effective. But this is different from a "continuous rolling p-i-m-a-i rasgueo"(p is small finger) , which is even more spectacular. Juan Martin uses that quite a lot when playing. That is what I was looking for - how to make a p-i-m-a-i rasgueo sound smooth without that slight gap in it . Some videos on here do cover it.

could you please play Sakura and variation for us? I really want to hear your version of this great piece because my daughter doesn't content with other versions on line she thinks your edition might be the best based on your understanding of music

I have a question. I understand that for the thumb we use arm rotation, but what about the middle finger? Do we kind of shoot it or is it a part of the rotation as well? It's much more tough to strum with the middle finger using arm rotation, shooting it seems easy. I'm a total beginner in rasguedo

when I try to mimic exactly your form, my thumb's exact playing point of contact gets "caught" underneath a string on the down stroke.
it's because my thumb does a scoop as you rotate the "fan" downward, striking the notes in a flurry.
how do I fix this? no matter what, I twist and strum with the thumb, I cannot avoid getting momentarily stuck.

You're thumb most probably needs to be filed slightly differently in order not to hook. It should pass smoothly over the strings whether it's during the upstroke or during the downstroke. I would say experiment with filing and see how that goes!

I really appreciate your comment because it's the exact same with me and probably many others. I like the way Mr Harb breaks it down though and I will practice it. Then I watch Juan Martin with his 2 " thumb on his right hand and wonder how he does it. Lol

Do you use a separate guitar for flamenco music? Or is it okay to use a classical guitar for both classical and flamenco?

Great tutorial! Abanico is not an electric fan though, it's the hand held one.
