He 100% is one of the best shot makers in the NBA today. Up there with Luka, Kyrie, Steph, kawhi. His game is one of the best I've ever seen, shame he doesn't get that recognition.
Book is one of those players that would have been good in any era, he has the old way of scoring, but knows how to score in the new era of the NBA, he just has the solid fundamentals for scoring in a myriad of ways.
Imo the best midrange scorers in the NBA are Luka, embiid, d book, KD, can argue jokic, Kyrie, sga, jaleen brunson. I also noticed that if you're an elite mid range scorer, you're usually a great playoff scorer. Edit: remove Luka and jaleen brunson. The rest are actually truly elite from mid range.
Midrange scoring is resillient scoring since playoff defenses often organically give up that shot. And even if they don't, efficient midrange scorers usually are comfortable with shots with a higher degree of difficulty without having a huge dip to their efficiency.
@@RicoGotcheese I see some people are genuinely unaware that Jokic averaged more than 50% from midrange last season and is around 49% this season on a diet of awkward one footers, floaters and turnarounds
Books mid range is so pretty. It's almost as if he floats at the top of his jump shot to get leverage over a defender. Absolutely one of the most gorgeous jump shots I've ever seen.
I think Booker is under appreciated because most of the time he doesn’t look particularly amazing as he plays his game. As a Suns fan, I’d say his weakness is his handles.
I’m in agreement there, it’s not that he *can’t* handle well, it’s just that most lead creators either have a more versatile set of moves or are more comfortable dealing with pressure.
what a nice and detailed video, a recognition for my boy. People forget he carried that suns team that went on to the finals and scored b2b 40 points but overshadowed of that Game 7 Dallas series where everybody in the team is off.
You DO NOT want to see DB in a play off series. He's the kind of player that makes the fans of the other team lose faith in their own team. He is a true Kobe disciple.
Great video bro and its been fun watching booker progress into who he is over the past couple of years. He is one of the best scorers in the league and is ridiculously efficient despite the shots he takes and the offensive load he has to carry. Especially this season with him being the primary facilitator for the team
Nope. I am a Rockets fan and don't care about neither of the teams/players. Booker started it so just be ready for what's gonna happen if you're a Suns fan.@legittaco5899
This video was much needed. I been noticing book hit this new level and It’s been over looked due to the fact a lot of other players are also playing at an historic level, but the efficiency with book stands out from everybody in the league except KD, and shai (not counting bigs because of the shot selection difference)
@timjohnson6694 he's been doing that since his second year in the league. Maybe learned some tips on how to be better at it from cp, but that was always his go-to coming off the high pick
This dude reminds me of Kobe sometimes, recently moved to PHX and he is always on TV. Last year's playoff home games against Denver was crazy, no one could stop him, the Suns actually beat Denver into submission in their home games, only wish they would do that on the road...
Great video on under appreciated booker. Hes in discussion of best players without physical advantage. Meaning no giannis jokic etc but includes curry kyrie etc.
because they dont. people dont like old school non-flashy players. Book is all business all the time. KD is the same way. People love LBJ but hate people like KD and Book. How that makes sense is beyond me.
These middys is what I want Kuminga to master. Will literally make him impossible to guard. Create a wall to stop the drive? doesnt matter. Pull up middy One on one coverage? Doesnt matter. Too strong and quick Playing against zone? Doesnt matter. Pull up middy
Bruh I just looked up their numbers and I tell you they are damn near identical. Even their best seasons, with the exception of Book be in the league longer, it's like Spider's got the same trajectory. Shit crazy
The mid range is still a good tool to have but it’s crazy that even for these elite guys like Booker it’s still less efficient thanthe average shot attempt.
love the video, but I feel like there's 5 categories when it comes to finishing not four. Body control is up there and is as important as the others its def a big separator when it comes to finishing ability and many of the best interior finishers have exceptional body control even though they aren't elite in other categories like strength and length.
I have said this so many times when people argue and say he trash like he imo has the deepest bag of anyone in the nba he isn’t Kobe and no one will ever be Kobe but he resembles his very good he is just so hated by many people that they don’t like to talk about him that much
Devin Booker is a strange player: His handle is good but not great and he’s not crazy athletic. Booker makes up for this with the most skilled mid range and tough shot makers inside the arch in the league. He would average 30 but he likes to pass and isn’t a foul merchant plus he doesn’t like 3s as much as hard middys
I wonder what it felt like to be Booker mentally after the playoffs. To shoot over 50% from 3 and 80% true shooting, yet have a negative 37 plus minus. It's an underrated skill to be that mentally tough. He literally couldnt play better realistically, got smacked, and just has to train for the following season. Funny to really imagine.
Three point shots did not become exponential after 2015. Look up what exponential means. The rise was linear then plateaued. This is not exponential growth.
Not fantastic off ball but he can get the job done, he is certainly more effective with the ball in his hands creating his own shot…. But that’s a testament to how good his scoring versatility is
It drives me crazy with how much hate Book gets, his efficiency is as good as anybody in NBA history. Hes Kobe but more efficient. If people take time to watch him the resemblance is uncanny
Booker is the more skilled offensively but Giannis is the more dominant offensive player…. It’s like a prime Shaq vs Prime Kobe comparison but to a lesser degree
He 100% is one of the best shot makers in the NBA today. Up there with Luka, Kyrie, Steph, kawhi. His game is one of the best I've ever seen, shame he doesn't get that recognition.
As the kids say "that's cap".He scored under 15 pts in game 7 vs Mavs.

Glad you enjoyed!
Man he NEVER gets the calls others do smh
I probably said this on every dbook Analysis. His jump shot is majestic.
Easily has one of the most aesthetic shots ever.

Book is so under rated. Booker is surgical - Great breakdown! 🏀🔥

Hate/doubt him or not, he helps a lot to save the midrange we all loved.

I remember in 2018, Booker’s big criticism was that he couldn’t hit pull-up jumpers. The fact that he has that in his arsenal now makes him ELITE.
He needs more recognition for his work he’s dominant and can definitely count on with the right players around him. 💯

That move where he puts the defender on his back isn't flashy but it's unstoppable.

I love his game. Always patient, but knows when to attack hard, just great decision making, scoring and playmaking.
The most significant thing I notice about his shots? It never gets blocked!
The high release point and midair adjustments make it nearly impossible!
Why does it feel most people don't like Book.

6:05 THERE HE GOES AGAIN ;)
Great assessment.
Thanks!
If you add a mid range, even just taking open looks. It means you have to be guarded all most all the time
Just imagine if he got the Luka treatment when opponents bump him at the rim.😅

He's going to start and everyone knows it.
