Defintely a good insight in Luka's amazing ballgame. There isn't a player in the league that can match his versatility and complete dominance on offense. He isn't a bad defender anymore either, even though many haters would like you to believe he is. Next time, take a few minutes to focus on the defensive aspects of a player. I know it isn't as flashy and Luka has so many offensive potential you can fill hours with it, but it makes for a more complete look at a player. Thank you for posting!
He’s going to start his career with all nba 1st team every year but his rookie year. We do know that means he’s basically been top 5 player since year 2 basically. At least top 2 guard
Two years ago I’d say Jokic was the most talented in the league offensively, no question it’s now Luka he’s improved his lob threat abilities. And he has made 21 50+ feet assists, he’s literally a quarter back.
He is an absolute genius. Was following him a full year before Dallas drafted him. I have been a Mavericks fan since 1980. We are lucky to have him. His profile increased before the draft….I thought we had lost the opportunity as we won some meaningless games.
Luka is one of those guys that just makes the game look so easy, and always a joy to watch. On a side note, would love to see you do a video on the Clippers sliding as they're now 4.5 games behind the 3 seed and only 0.5 games ahead of the Pelicans.

Luka mastered deceleration in a game were ereryone is running and acelerated. He is heasitating between 2-3 options every second instead of having just one plan.

But, after an athlete has decided to decelerate, Luca is world elite in deceleration, the actual execution of deceleration. Many players have counters or "2-3 options" vs "just one plan".
Having a big that rim runs well while also playing good defense is what Luka has been waiting for. Now he has two in Gafford and Lively. He needed the Clint Capela of his James Harden-like style of offense.

The thing about luka is that every matchup is a mismatch. If he's 1 on 1 with a big he can create space, if he's 1 on 1 with a guard he can post up, even if there's a similar sized wing luka will get by them 9/10 times.
Luka often gets compared to prime Harden as if that's supposed to be a knock against him... however Luka's playmaking is one thing that separates him from Harden. Don't get me wrong, Harden is a good passer, probably a little underrated in that regard, but James Harden doesn't dissect a defense the way that Doncic does in every game. Luka keeps making these role players look better than they are! Dallas has finally addressed the Center position, but they still need better play from the SF and PF positions. PJ can be serviceable at PF if you can get a SF that can play good defense, and give you a reliable 15+ points on good efficiency. If the Mavs can get a Forward to do that, they'll win it all.
Haters loooooove to say he's a padding stat chaser. Chuck said "when you get help your numbers should go down." But pay attention to the games and his iso action is down but the 2 man action is through the roof which means higher efficiency. They only gained 1 playmaker in kyrie, and as you mention here he's really shown a shift in his game to compliment not always having the ball. But don't get it twisted, when you have gafford and lively rolling for you, your scoring and assists go up.

Luka is the on court mavs coach. The smartest IQ ever play basketball. Which is why he overcompensates for he’s belly overweight. They have designed a team for him that can provide the vast amount of athleticism around Luka so they have same potential as any other good ones like Boston and Denver. Mavs secret is that overtime they keep on improving because it’s all based on an amazing IQ surrounded by athletes which are making on going continues improving tactics. Perfecting their way of interacting with Luka (and Kyrie).
The issue with defending Luka in PNR is that if you force him to become a scorer, it plays to his strength. You force him to be a playmaker, it also plays to his strength. You’re really at his mercy on defense. Lately teams have just been doing single coverage instead of blitzing him but Atlanta found out the hard way that even without Kyrie, he was still able to punish as a scorer to the tune of 73 points.
The one at the 6:25 mark in this video is the priceless one for me. He does that every so often and you think “Why did they just let him walk down the key and lay it up?!?” But that’s the genius of him - to create that lane for himself with subtle eye movement and hesitation. I love it. It LOOKS so easy!
