  • I didn't go into much detail about the story to avoid spoilers, but obviously that part isn't perfect either, and you could make a good list of the plot holes/inconsistencies (especially in the endings). Despite that, the story and messages are done with a lot of heart, and I think that's why it turned out great in the end.
    The game: store.steampow...
Obligatory "can I date Coalt now?"

I'll add 3 book series recommendations here that share some similarities to Caketropolis:
    - Dragons and Skylines (Rowan Silver): Another series about dragons struggling to live among humans, and is the most similar to Caketropolis. Also includes wizards and magic. I've got mixed feelings about books 1 and 3, but 2 is quite good.
    - The Calatians series (Tim Susman): Set in the 1800's, with several schools of magic. Follows a Calatian fox named Kip who is learning sorcery, under the scrutinizing eyes of humans. An all around solid series.
    - Karasu (Jisuk Cho): Takes place in feudal Japan, in a world full of yokai hiding among humanity, and follows the crow tengu and doctor/monk Shichi. The series has been abandoned since 2015, but despite being unfinished it's still a great little story.

So far, you’ve recommended successfully a lot of unknown games that looked like they had been blatantly hauled out of the fiery pits of DeviantArt. I loved Golden Treasure for its wondrous lyrical writing and gorgeous art, even though it was blatantly made by scalies. I loved Copy Kitty for its never ending wit and high octane artifice, even though it was blatantly made by furries. But this one did not impress me - in my opinion, the writing is much weaker and does not manage to distance itself from the DeviantArt fanfiction standard, the discrimination story is a way overdone theme and this one doesn’t spin it in some new way, and the “twist” at the end is simply not meaningful. Sudden historical revisionism is not how you get me to care about a story.
Still, looking forward to your next reviews!

Fair enough if you tried it and didn’t like it, hard disagree on the assessment of the game. But yeah, I’m always going to be looking for and sharing more obscure games that leave a personal impact like this, cause maybe some people will feel the same, and I’m hoping games like this don’t go mostly ignored and get forgotten about.
There are 100% going to be (plenty) more furry games in the future though (and scalies? Even better)
