Jacqui Abbott has a lovely voice!
She has the most beautiful seductive female singing voice EVER!
@@simoncurtis2827 she is no brianna corrigan ... they were never the same after paul drove her out of the original beautiful south
@@jacopobelbo1399 She's Brianna Corrigan x 10.
@@simoncurtis2827 agreed
Amazing how they have turned this song into their own!
Seriously? FFS this is wank
top man paul is, he put one grand behind the bar of 60 pubs for his 60th birthday, he chose the coachmakers in stoke as one of them cheers paul
Wow!
These two legends were born to sing together - simply delicious to listen to
I thought they were terrible when they first appeared on the pop scene listening to them go through the motions of performing this song my opinion of them has not changed.
@@patrickkelly7085 I like them both, but your comment made me piss I thought you was gonna say you'd changed your mind on them
@@patrickkelly7085 you're entitiled to your opinion but, objectively, I'm just curious how you can hear their voices together and call them terrible. What is your threshold for not terrible?
One of the best songs ever written, superbly covered. A joy to watch! 👏👏
What a voice, Jacqui is amazing!
You can see the smile on Paul's face at the beginning. 'Yeah, we nailed this'
I'm a huge Rainbow fan and by extension a Russ Ballard fan...but I'm from Hull and a huge Paul Heaton fan too...this version is my idea of heaven...it quite literally made my hair stand on end! Fantastic version!!
I liked Rainbow, shame about Bungle.
His band may have Hull roots, but Paul is a scouser :-)
Another Russ Ballard fan...I got his first two solo albums (and two others) the second from which this song came.
Huge so you have all their albums etc etc etc
Jacqui Abbotts voice just gets better and better 🎶🎶💕
She is so unique and a blossom.🥰
Love the little smile that comes across Paul's face when he realises how well it's going.
They've took it and run with it...best cover I've heard in many a year...👏👏👏
Rainbows version was also a cover
Only guy I've ever heard sing this better than the original a guy called Jim Barry of a band called The Memories but thisbisna nice version
@@Omega21456Russ forgot about him
Two great singers covering my all-time favourite band what's not to love?
Who's your all-time favourite band?
I love this, listen to it over and over. I'm always intrigued how she never looks at him.....
Love Heaton's little smirk.
He knows they've nailed it... world class
Simply amazing..two voices that blend so well together.. perfection
Having played gigs for 65 years (now 78) I amazed how good the relatively new innovation of the 'beat box' can add so much to a musical group.
Invented by Dion Dublin under the name "The Dube"
It's called a Cajhon
Is there anytime you two can't do?. You just brought me back to the local nightclub scene in Clonmel Co. Tipperary over 30 years ago. A lot of people have passed on since then including the DJ who used to blast this out. Good times and great memories before we all had to grow up.
They can't sing "some might say"
@@LUFC123 but they can say “some might sing”
Derek Fanning - Clonmel Aviici 😉
Barry's, Clonmel Arms or Hotel Minella?
When you know, you know!
Absolutely nailed it and they know it!
Two of the most unique voices in British music, slaying an absolute classic! And it's clear they have a great relationship too - those little sideways smiles at Jackie from Paul when he knows they sound AMAZING together is just adorable!
Great version of an all time classic
That kids......is how it's really done!
Nice cameo from John Shuttleworth on the keyboards.
Ooooff!
Oof that was a bit high
Hello Ken.
And next two margarines
@@stevewalters4845 that would be crazy - having 2 margarines on the go...
What a cracking version. We know Paul and Jackie can sing anything and make it sound brilliant but big shout-out to the band and whoever did the arrangement. Absolute class👏👏👏
Outstanding!.....Love a bit of Rainbow, what a cover.
I switched on the radio as they were mid way through the first track they did on the Evans show and I was listening for a while before I even figured out that they were playing live. Unbelievably good performance 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Absolute class👌 ..Paul and Jacqui complement each other so well.
These 2 could sing the phone book and still make it a belter
Genuinely shocked at the amazing sound quality listening on a phone! Just amazing :-)
Loved this. Been a massive fan of Paul Heaton for years, one of the most talented singer/songwriters the UK has produced in the last 30 years, a travesty he isn't better known.
There should be books written, documentaries filmed about Paul Heaton. Fuck ed sheerin and stormzy and all that utter pish. Paul Heaton is the real deal.
Of course he’s known.
@@tonemc6047 learn to read, i didn't say he isn't known, i said he should be better known
@@martingilchrist6577
His last two albums have gone to number one. His arena tour has sold out. How much better known do you need to be?
Those voices! This is a joyful thing but I genuinely think they could sing me the phonebook!
One of many (of the massively under-rated) Russ Ballard compositions that have been successful for other artistes.
Ritchie & Graham would deffo approve, Much better than I thought it was going to be X
Nice of them to approve given their version was also a cover.
Please please please do this one on tour in December!!
Brilliant song, brilliant vocals, beautiful harmonies
Paul Heaton is a legend 👍
Brilliant cover of one of my all time favourites🔥🔥🔥
Love this cover 😍 such a talented pair.
wow...didn't see that cover coming...brilliant as always! Didn't know Vic Reeves played keyboard in the band.
Thought keyboard player looked like Paul Merson!
I remember this being in the charts. Really ‘hard’ sound for the solo, wonder how Blackmore got that. Russ Ballard, thank you.
They could never be anything less than beautiful!
Not trying to get "likes" here but, Paul and Jacqui are fantastic! What a pleasure to hear them sing! The songs a classic, and they made it their own!
I've loved the original by Rainbow since I was a kid but this is absolutely brilliant guys! You made it your own and your voices are perfect together, superb! Thank you! 👏🙌👍🥰🖤
The version by Rainbow wasn’t the original, there were a couple of versions of the song before Ritchie Blackmore et al made it their own. This is just nice, but not great unlike Rainbow’s version against which all others will be measured.
The original was composed by Russ Ballard, formerly of The Roulettes and Argent, from his second solo album "Winning" in 1976.
It was also a minor album hit by Head East in the states
Next week on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show - Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio perform Happy Hour by the HOUSEMARTINS
@@MikeMichaels1987 that'll be hard seeing as dio is dead
Gives a great track a new lease of life. Brilliant
One underrated British legend singing a song by another
Was not expecting that!! Absolutely stonking!! 👍
Their voices together a simply perfect.
I like how Chris has always had Paul on his shows. TFI, Radio 2, The One Show and his Virgin Show. Obviously appreciates the music.
Not to shabby. Well played guys,
Watched this sneakily at work in the morning..... What a treat ♥️
Great That.. And Who knew Paul Merson could rock the keyboard like that....
…brilliant! And with Vic Reeves on keys 😂
I thought the same. And Chris Moyles playing guitar! I should put my specs on.
I thought it was John Shuttleworth 😅
I love how over the years that their voices haven't changed a bit! Love it!
I do believe even Ritchie Blackmore smiled ( like a postmodern Wizard ) after hearing this.
God Bless Graham Bonnet Skeggies finest 😎
Rainbow's version was a cover. The original was by Argent.
LOVE ❤ These two! Get well soon Jacqui
Very nicely performed, love it, very different to the original but not too different.
Both are amazing
Amazing. Always loved Paul's voice.
This needs a million views.
Why
This needs a million sales irs fantastic and I love rainbows 🌈 version live
@michaelstanier if you need to ask you should exit
beautiful south = soundtrack of my teenage years. wonderful !
What a lovely and refreshing version!
Gorgeous ❤
Fantastic vocals as always
Paul’s little smirk at Jacqui absolutely fucking nailing it is lovely
Amazing colab and cover... bravo to all involved
Love a cover from a surprising source
Kudos to them all... I find it impossible to play this (on bass) without a certain amount of headbanging.
Always loved these two. Fan of Paul since the Housemartins when I was a nipper in the 80s.
Great song, takes me back to the youth club disco, where I had my first proper snog. Looking forward to seeing you both in Brum on 8th Dec.
Absolutely brilliant ❤
Wonderful rendition!
One of my fav Rainbow songs and this version was great too. :)
It's not a Rainbow song.
@@asensibleyoungman2978 I know that! I said "My Fav Rainbow Song", never said they wrote it! ...But everyone knows the Rainbow version the most I think and associates it with them. Russ Ballard wrote great song!
I thought Michael Balls cover version of this a few years ago was the ultimate version, I'm joking of course, his version was shite but this was fabulous, a few cheeky little grins from Paul as well, he knows they nailed it.
Harmonies...lovely blending there...great choice of cover.
Great cover. Jacqui... what a voice!
Brilliant cover - love it !😎🇬🇧
A classic tune by Ballard, loved the Rainbow version and love this more.
Wow, I've only ever heard this song screamed. It sounds fantastic when it is sung 👍
😂😂😂
I really like Heaton and Abbott and this version is nice, well done. The one of course Paul is referring to is sung by Graham Bonnet lead singer at the time in Rainbow. The original was by Russ Ballard. Most people know the Rainbow version and it is by far and away the best In my opinion. So sung or shall we say powerfully sang then I’ll take Graham’s version.
I must say that's nonsense. Graham Bonnet was a fantastic singer. Different to these guys but absolutely a great singer. I think you are just thinking because he fronted a loud rock band it wasn't singing - it definitely was though.
@@user-John666 I like Graham's voice a lot and I like this too. Just goes to show it's a good song if two so very different bands can do great versions of it!
Fantastic! 👏👏👏👏👏👍
yep shes got it
With Jilted John (John Shuttleworth) on the keyboards.
Effortlessly sublime
Perfect....as always 🤗
Can't wait to see them in Glasgow on 2 Dec xx
amazing .
Nice twist on a classic 👍👏
Love it 🌈
Does not get any better 😊😊
Damn fine cover, their contrast of voice is just perfect
Love it. Guys are great together. And the l beautiful South are a ridiculously Under rated band.
Just tremendous!
Class act and class song ❤
The South do Rainbow...not forgetting that oh so gratuitous key change too...love it 🙂
Awesome.
Just wonderful. Talent to burn
Love them
Awesome....but...were the keyboards plugged in?
This is great!
Thank you!
Pure class ❤
Brilliant!!!
A superb version..
