This was Nightwish at its best, back when Toumas wanted to be Stratovarius. That's why Oceanborn & Wishmaster are the heaviest Nightwish albums.

Nightwish did Stratovarius better than Stratovarius.
For me wishmaster is best album from nightwish..true masterpiece..its just way to good..but new fans just dont know how good it is..
Nightwish has some hidden pearls for the new fans. There are some great songs that Floor never sang. Some examples of other epic songs that a lot of the new fans don't know are:
1 - "Beauty of the Beast" (yes, is OF the beast)
2 - "The Wayfarer"
3 - Passion and the Opera (yes is "Passion and the Opera". Some people confuse with "Phantom of the Opera", but it's a diferent song)
4 - The Pharaoh Sails to Orion
5 - Lappi.
For some of this songs there isn't a good live performance on RUclips, so I advice to check the studio version first to not ruin the first listening experience.
Long live the Wishmaster album, a masterpiece.

A very underated Nightwish song. I love hearing reactions to the older songs. They've become somewhat forgotten since Floor joined the band 🤘🤘🤘
Except the ones remade in Decades tour. We got some old songs from her.
Don't blame Floor for the lack of Tuomas compositions lately, out of the 3 singer Floor is by far the best one, more versatile and better register overall... now let's blame Tuomas for not using her full capabilities

There's no need to blame anyone, the band evolved their sound, the old songs are nice and some people might prefer them, but would be foolish to pretend that they keep playing the same 20 years later

Nightwish is still Nightwish... Every band evolve or die. You could prefer they had died but not me and many others. I still think they are great and even greater.

Okay. Why do they not rock like this anymore? If Tuomas still wrote songs like this, I wouldn't keep saying Floor's talent is being wasted on this band. Also, I can hear the influence Tarja had on Simone. And I'm so f-ing grateful for it.

Yes! One of my favorite tracks off of Wishmaster if I'm in the mood for blazing Power Metal. If you want more Nightwish in the speedy vein, I HIGHLY recommend Pharaoh Sails To Orion or Nightquest.

Just power metal, no symphonic elements in this song. No orchestra at all. Nightwish never used orchestras until Century Child, two years later
I mostly agree, but they always had symphonic elements in most songs, but it started to become overpowering at times from Century Child and beyond.
@@ArchjSM Let's say there was a sort of symphonic atmosphere here and there, but the first three albums were more power/gothic metal with some folky drops.
@@angelcollado2021 This is from the pre-Marko era... and yeah I kind of agree with you, I don't remember if they were actually clasified as a "symphonic" metal during their first three albums - but I guess it was something really different at that time to have a piano instead of an extra guitar so it was hard to classify it as power metal or w/e.
@@sovex9331 No, by that time I don't even think that idea existed. But you are right, the keyboards added anm orchestral-like atmosphere which, later, would lead to symphonic metal
@@sovex9331 Stratovarius was doing power metal with keyboards, Tuomas drew some inspiration from them in all these power metal songs. But Nighwish had Tarja as vocals which gave them that "operatic" feel, even without orchestra it already sounded more dramatic than standard power metal band.

I love wishmaster, and even floor and Annette, but oceanborn is by far their best all time album. Thats just a fact bitch

I think maybe the keyboard tone he used kind of stood out too much. I think a more natural sound like a Hammond sound would have been perfect. I love the old power metal stuff they used to do, Tarja's operatic vocals add that extra element of epic to it, which is why I like her voice on the old stuff. "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion" is another great one if you haven't done it yet.

i know its more then a year, but i must say that this song is timeless, i mean, i just heard the newest album from Nightwish with Floor, Shes a great singer, but even she cant save that album, its like im sorry will take it mildly, not really good, only Noise stands out a bit, the others are well forgettable at least for me. I heard this song Crownless first in a CounterStrike 1.6 esport montage videos about different teams and players scoring greatly and i think its called N1, nice one, and Crownless was one of those songs, from this time on, im in love with this song and Nightwish, and still love this song after so many years. So believe me, the new album is BAD, to say it mildly. I hope the upcoming one will be as great as the 2015 Endless forms most beautiful, that one is great and made a mark as the old ones, but this is bad

Great song but I got to say, it's probably the son I like the least on the "Wishmaster" album- And that is a great way to show how great that album is.
The first 3 or 4 albums were great then they switched singers in 2005 2006 then again 2012 2013 one thing that Nightwish has done so well is writting music for the current singer. Regardless of what you thought of that singer the best or worst the music conformed to that vocalists abilities. I can say regardless of era or style they played like the Islander and Harvest to the hard hitting stuff. Even the one with their native language which I dont understand. They have a way of inserting beauty into their songs.
Next: Kingdom of Heaven from Epica. I dare you guys. React to that song

There was a lacuna Coil dvd which came with one of their albums where Cristina Scabia said she views her vocals as an instrument. I'd say Nightwish treats their vocalists as several instruments. As the versatility of doing so many genres sometimes in one song is unbelievable
Crownless is my favourite. Tarja voice is insanely powerful, lyrics and rhythm just gives so much energy and emotions

The early Nightwish sounded so much like Stratovarius. Well, the keyboards got air time more.
Sometimes I wish lyrics would rain down instead of appearing, Coz its hard to follow a lyrics that u wont be prepared like u wont know what text will come next. Some times the lyrics gets unsynced with the song that its hard to follow. If the lyrics could rain down like End Credit roll it would be easier to see what word comes next.
I wouldn't call it symphonic metal. It actually is power metal as nightwish used to create at their beginning. In century child, they did started with the symphonic vibes.

Some people say that Emppu is not fast...he is just so amazing that he can show finger to those. This piece is from the golden era of Oceanborn and Wishmaster. Do also songs from the Angels fall first album and song "Nightwish" from demo album.

Guys, since the Rotting Christ live was postponed I highly suggest to visit their back catalog cause it's really amazing. Songs like "Sign of Prime Creation" and "kata ton daimona eaytoy" are epic headbangers that I m sure you ll love. Cheers!
To me, this is the Nightwish I fell in love with. Wishmaster is probably still my favorite album by this band. Timeless powermetal classic.

I do miss this kind of Nightwish music, Floor is my favorite of all times, It seems like Thomas has lost the magic of composing like this, I heard the new album and it's so dissapointing
This was during his "I want to be Stratovarius" years. Episode & Visions are two of the best Stratovarius albums from 96-97, and Toumas wanted to be in a Stratovarius like band. His choices changed when he heard Tarja first sing. So Toumas made Startovarius like songs on Wishmaster & Oceanborn, 2 of the Heaviest Nightwish albums.
That's why he doesn't write songs like this anymore, is because Nightwish has become its own genre. So the Startovarius like band is gone. To me that's a good things because we got the albums Century Child, Once, Dark Passion Play & Imaginaerum. True Symphonic Heavy Metal.

Agree regarding the first keyboard solo! I've been listening to this song for 15 years, and every time it feels off.
That's because there's 2 different solos going on at the same time, and Toumas never chose a good sample to do solos in. That's why it sounds off

They should have just quit when Tarja left, Yes Floor is an excellent vocalist but for me Tuomas and Tarja were Nightwish and without either one it's just not the same. But this is only my opinion and no one else's.
Why quit when the band still has the passion to make music? :) They are very happy with their current situation, and that's all that matters. Our opinions are not important. :)

I like all eras of Nightwish personally. I don’t think they have a bad album. Even the debut while not my favorite has a good amount to offer.

Their fan base is far larger now than at any time in the past, tickets for their shows sell out within hours of going online, they have had to restructure their tour schedules multiple times over the last several years to accommodate the demand by adding more venues, etc. If you personally don't like their more recent stuff that's fine, but to say they should have quit and that Nightwish isn't Nightwish anymore just because you don't like it is just the height of arrogance and egotism. You are right in one thing though, fan opinion does matter, and in this case you are greatly outnumbered. Share in their ability to constantly create ever evolving music and the passion that goes into it without going stale or don't, though it seems a waist to shun their recent work in favor of clinging to the past and refusing to accept change. Just spend more time listening to what you do like and less on whining about what you don't.

Tarja's great of course, but the song is kind of 'meh'. Wishmaster seems like Tuomas tried to redo Oceanborn but ran out of ideas. Always happy to hear Tarja
