Must include Left hand slapping of Mononeon. It is puzzling how he slaps with his left hand!

Want to see some bounce and funk you have to include Louis Johnson.

Marcus Miller has always been my main reference for slapping: I think he has the best slap tone and I always tried to emulate that style. I tried some other styles but I didn't feel confortable with any of them. Of course all the others you mention are slap bass giants but Marcus is my favourite.

In my opinion, Marcus has the best approach of the slap bass in the history of the instrument, not to mention his tone. That's why he is the only cat who has managed to stay current on the slap for more than 40 yers, while most who were once in the forefront with him have become mostly out dated. I mean the dude makes exclusively slap bass music and none of us is tired of him 40 years later. That's mostly because he is the most melodic slapper that ever walked the planet.

One thing about Flea is that I've never seen him play sitting down. He prefers his bass to be real low compared to the others, that's probably why you have issues emulating him. Also you should mention how each position enables or disables double thumbing. I've never heard of Donald Alford, but will definitely be checking him out. Thanks!

I've adopted a style closer to Donald and Victor. I started with the bounce technique and just couldn't get it to sound as clean as i wanted so i started playing softer (got new strings) and stayed tighter to the strings or fretboard and it made a world of difference. You don't have to pound the strings to get the sound you want. I'm pretty sure i picked that up from one of your videos so you get credit as well. Thank you.

I was totally inspired by Mark King with the thumb-up rapid-fire approach. But because I wear different basses at different heights, I've alternated between thumb-up, thumb-down, and even thumb-sideways depending on whether on playing funk, rock, or pop. For me, it always depended on the particular music and what worked best for what set list.

If you look at that clip of Flea his thumb is pointing down on the bass but he holds the neck up higher so his thumb is actually more horizontal than you might think

Victor Wooten plays close because he likes to slap up as well as down, so it's almost like a thumb strumming double slap technique.

Here are some *OTHER* bass players you might wanna check out so you don't become a Wooten clone or a Miller clone or a Flea clone - like what 99% of RUclips bassplayers are. Let's start with Stanley Clarke, Louis Johnson, Abe Laboriel and ofc Mark King. If you check out any of these players you won't sound like and play like the 99% bassplayers on RUclips *FACT*
