Would you recommend this one over the Dell Inspiron 3511 you reviewed previously? I'm just looking for something lightweight that will handle college work for my daughter. Is it easy to take out of S mode?
It is easy to switch out of S mode. Takes like 5 minutes or so. You can find on youtube. Both have 8gb ram and 256gb ssd, both CPUs have similar speed. 12th gen i3 is really great and is about as fast as i5 11th gen. So they will be about equally fast and fast enough for college work. Dell has 15.6” screen and Lenovo 14”. Lenovo is smaller and lighter. Both brands are pretty reliable and I never had issues with warranty on both of these brands. Their warranty works pretty well. Lenovo has better nicer material quality than Dell. That Dell feels like 10 year old by materials. Lenovo got much nicer. Dell has touch screen, but costs $80 more. Lenovo $300 at target, dell $380 at bestbuy. Both are good black Friday deals in my mind. If not having a touch screen is not a big issue - I would definitely go with Lenovo.
Yes, youtube has videos how to switch out of s mode. Nothing hard. I like Lenovo design more. I would buy whatever is cheaper for the specs: Dell, HP, Lenovo. I like Dell design the least. Buy only on sale. At least 8GB RAM. Better 16GB. There are many variations of each of these. Dell.com generally has best prices for Dell Laptops. Smaller screen = lighter overall. So get 14” I guess.
Greetings, I have an HP Elitebook 745 G6 with a touch screen, facial and fingerprint recognition, 16 GB of ram and 256 m.2 and a Ryzen 7 Pro 3700u processor. They are offering me an exchange for a Lenovo Ideapad 1i with an i3-1215U processor with 20Gb of ram and 512GB m.2. The thing is that it does not have a touch screen or backlight, clearly the HP feels of excellent quality and comfort compared to the Lenovo, but the Lenovo has better processing, and there I don't know whether to accept. In my case, I use the touch screen frequently for graphic design, except that I also think the Lenovo is more expensive, so I could change it and then sell it... what can you tell me, which one is better? Both are new.
Cpus will have similar performance. That ideapad is from 2022, and Elitebook G6 is from about 2019 or so, they don’t make these for a while already. Elitebook is a premium business product line, ideapad 1 is very basic comparable to basic hp laptop. Elitebook competes with Thinkpads. I would not switch, especially if you need touch screen. 20gb ram was an upgrade from 4gb or 8gb. I would just stay with Elitebook, it probably also has a better screen
@@alegreviews Thank you very much for responding, I have thought about it and the HP has good features, both the screen and special ports and SIM card. I'll stick with the hp
I bought this laptop its great I got it on sale for $300 also on target instead of the full price of $539.00 it was a steal honestly for $300 I looked all around the web and different retail sites its was the best bang for the bucks for a budget laptop for school surprisingly I can also game on it runs cs:go on low setting over 60fps of course I optimized my laptop for the maximum performance other game too it came with Xbox game pass for 3 months runs FIFA 45-60+, assassin's creed 30-40FPS , Mortal Combat 30-50fps, World Of Tanks 60fps+ low setting on all , The fact that it can even run them amazed me...a lot I ran out of storage but ill update you guys on more when not gaming just surfing the web and streaming movies the fan is so quiet I didn't even think it had one till I stared gaming, which was a relief because I thought I was about to blow the CPU and GPU Really grateful I was able to buy it before the sale ended like I said it was a STEAL ... ram expandable to 16 Gb SSD storage is also expandable to whatever you'll like This is the model # 82QC004BUS of the product above ⬆
I usually just remove some of spam software from Windows and manufacturer. Also I turn off a few services. But you gotta know what you do to not mess it up.
I would appreciate another type A USB port than the type C on this class of laptop. I bought the 15.6 with 16gb ram and a 1tb SSD a year after this review for $430. The port on the right side is USB 2.0 which is fine. I like transferring files at 2.0 speed as it corrupts less. USB 3.0 drives that get really hot give max USB2 speeds while staying cool and max USB2 speed is usually good enough.
@@alegreviews I read somewhere that the battery lasts about 2-3 hours. I would use it to use the browser and office. yi it's been a while, that's why i'm asking :)
Really depends what’s done with it, level of brightness etc. Also if laptop is constantly on charge battery life will go down quickly, you may end up with 5 minutes full battery life after 3 years. Watching youtube will drain your battery faster than reading wikipedia. For example. Apps, programs, viruses, antiviriruses all drain battery. When I start using a new computer - first thing I do is do all updates, and then i delete all apps, change a few settings etc. It is good for productivity as well as for battery. No laptop in my personal experience has advertised 8-10 battery life
All laptops heat up when you use them for long, and especially when you do something that requires the full power of CPU so it works on 100% or close. We here a new more of a basic CPU so it will not heat all that much.
Which would you choose between this one and a Gateway GWTC51427-BK ? It’s a 14” 8gb - 512gb and an i5 12th gen. I’m between these two options but I’m not clear yet. I would like to know your opinion please 🙏 Thanks for the video, btw 🎉😊
Lenovo is a much better brand. Gateways are not reliable poor build quality (previous models for sure). I don’t have data on 12th gen i5/i7 models, they might be better. I would choose Lenovo any day. However Gateway are often on sale at ridiculously cheap prices for their specs

thx for the help you are amazing
is the screen good?
Can you do a chassis removal to check if the ram is expandable. Thank you
I think it has 4GB soldered and one slot with 4GB, so you can make it 4+8 or 4+16.
But I cannot confirm it, I already gave it back to the owner.

16GB/1TB - looks like somebody upgraded it.
I use USB HUBs sometimes or C to A adapters, I have Dell XPS with no USB-A
Hello! about how long does the battery last?
Same as every other laptop like this. Depending what you are doing

I m pretty sure someone did it on youtube with this or similar model
It's good for solidworks?
Good for basic needs. If you need something more powerful - find with i5 12th-13th gen and 16gb of ram
How's the track pad?
Average, just ok as expected
Hi, is the memory expandable?
Yes, it has an extra ram slot, I added more 8 GBs on mine
That’s good to know. From what I know most Lenovo ideapads have 2 slots. One soldered, one available for upgrade
Is there an extra SSD port?
No

How much cost your laptop sir ?
I think it was less than $300 on sale. Now you can find one like this with i5-1235U for $300. As well as Dells or HP

what is the maximum capacity of ram memory?
I cannot find that info anywhere, I didn't disassemble it
I know most of ideapad 3 comes with 4GB soldered + 1 slot
I am not sure about ideapad 1
Is it good for programming
It is a good basic computer for basic needs, can be used for some programming
Can i upgrade the ssd and run protools
ram up to 20GB (4GB + 16GB)
SSD - also, I think up to 4GB
