I have a Gino Vanelli story for you. In the early 1980's I took a part time job as a fraud investigator, with Saks Fifth Avenue, ( my full time job was as a sergeant with the LAPD). As I was walking through the store I noticed a man with long hair, a large full length leather jacket, and a large man bag. He was looking at various merchandise throughout the store. But as it was in the middle of summer, the jacket stood out. Loss prevention was off that day so I maintained surveillance of him for over an hour. Now back in those days there was no camera surveillance, so I basically followed him around. About an hour into the surveillance, one of the sales associates walked up to me and said, " guess what, Gino Vanelli is in the store," and pointed to the leather jacket wearing individual. I instantly realized that the reason why he was looking around so much was that he was trying to avoid getting mobbed by fans. I shook my head, went back to my office and laughed out loud. The moral of the story is, not everyone that wears a leather jacket and looks around is a thief, some are just major artists trying to be normal.
Saw him in concert once, he was so humble and poked fun at himself. I had a huge crush on him, I had his poster on my college dorm wall…my college boyfriend was a bit jealous as he called him Gyno Vaginelli. 😂
Gino married a girl in my hometown. Was heartbroken, like I had a chance... I loved him and even had a sexy poster on my wall. All that hair and beautiful face! India, you were born too late. The 1970s were incredible! You love the same music as I so.
I used to rock with this song on my local smooth jazz station when I was a kid. I always sing along when the chorus hits. So many memories from this. Thank you for the video.
Gino is a bit of a Canadian music icon. My buddy's mom was really big on him in the 80s. She loved seeing him in concert. He's still rockin that look too with a dash of grey
I saw him a few years ago live. He is PHENOMENAL. And his band is just as great. My favourite tracks of his are Where Am I Going and Powerful People. Fun fact: Gino Vannelli performed Powerful People on Soul Train! The video is on RUclips.
Hi you are such a pleasure to watch listening to this incredible song and artist I'm back in the 70s what a time in my life I'm still trying to chase the feelings I miss
These love songs like this... Ambrosia... just take me back to a time of such innocence before I even knew what love was but couldn't wait to find out.
Thank you for covering Gino Vannelli! I saw him 4 times back in the late 70s and early 80s. Phenomenal concerts with a powerful voice and sound with all the synthesizers!!! He is actually playing two shows this September here in Austin! Over 40 years and still has that powerful voice!
Thank you for posting. My sister died this week from Covid-19 and it helps getting lost in music to ease the heartbreak many of us are going through. We're all in this together! Love to all 💞
Do you know Angela Bofill? She did a cover of this which is just as great as this one. And she's got a lot of other great songs that she did. If you don't know her she's worth a look. Beautiful lovely singer.
The smooth-jazzy song was ahead of its time, lead-vocal was great, the background vocals too. How about that long outro, that’s something we don’t hear too often anymore in Pop music. When that great tenor sax solo played, her only comment was, “I am so relaxed!”
Nice track from "Brother to Brother" (1978). Great backup vocals by the Waters sisters (Julia Waters and Maxine Waters). Julia and Maxine toured with Neil Diamond on his farewell tour in 2019. They sang on "Someday We'll Be Together" with Diana Ross in 1970, which helped start their careers.
I had to mature into it now enjoy cherizar... it's a youthful love song. But for many years i sarenated women with love me know, song and dance. So many moments
I was in love with Gino Vanelli after my brother whose a musician, gave his album. He ended up marrying a girl from my hometown in Washington state! Coulda been me! 💞✌
I enjoyed watching this video. You must see him in concert. You will just LOVE him even more!! Great singer from Montreal, Quebec Canada. What a Gem what a voice. After his concerts he will GREET everyone who wants to meet him. It was my last PRE Covid concert I attended. I will never forget it. He is funny, and a GREAT entertainer. Watch him singing OPERA. Yes he sings OPERA. What a voice! What Talent! Great Performer! Great Artist!
You might also consider "Brother to Brother" and "Apaloosa" on the same album. Gino might be "the man", but his brother Joe was the song writer, FYI. BTW, that's Mark Carney on drums, RIP of kidney failure....
India the best way to listen to that song is by walking in Montreal (at night and even better on a snowy night it's) the shit is straight magic and you almost can relive the song!! :)
Gino Vanelli was big back during the late 1970's - early 1980's when soft rock was popular with the baby boomers going into adulthood (finally). My gosh, this song reminds me it was good to be a young man then. Great expectations, still plenty of room to dream. This was his big hit in the states ... but my all time favorite GV song was (and is) "Living Inside Myself." Another which is sort of modern jazz and has marvelous keyboard movements, is "Lady." Always made me fantasize about Sofia Coppola. In a nice romantic way, of course.
He did this on Soul Train when it came out. I don't think there was a dry seat in the place. Yeah, grew up listening and digging Gino. Glad to see you're passing him on. Peace
That goes without saying. Forgotten Grooves, I'd be curious to know which of his albums is your favorite and what song is better than People Gotta Move?
Litlle sis POLEASE ,,POLEASE 🙏🏽 just for own personal pleasure...Check out Jimmy Castor doing this song....He plays a wicked sax solo and then just tears this song up with his unbelievable vocals.. You cannot leave this world without hearing Jimmy Castor doing this song. Please let me know if you paid me any mind. Your forever follower...🥀 😍
Gino is another of the incredible vocalists of the 70s!

@@helgar791thank you.
he's from Montreal, man.
Saw him in concert once, he was so humble and poked fun at himself. I had a huge crush on him, I had his poster on my college dorm wall…my college boyfriend was a bit jealous as he called him Gyno Vaginelli. 😂
Imagine if you had stopped him to ask him for documents! Amazing !😄
70s, 80s, 90s were one of the best golden music era❤❤
Montreal is an unbelievable city. More Americans should visit there. The women are first rate.

Lesmax2, the ‘70s were excellent!!
There is no finer vocalist, composer, and MUSICIAN than Gino Vannelli!
Wish I could hug you when your eyes got wet. Same feeling here. Cheers from Brazil! Gino is great!
I listen to him almost everyday. I was blessed to see him perform live, in Detroit in 1979. He put on a fantastic show!!!
The song is great. You have a beautiful smile. It goes with the song.
What a priceless beautiful expression.. it builds on you ...nice
I could listen to him all day and everyday, just brings back great memories and true love and romance. Wish it were still like that! Good times 🥰❤
I just love that line "when I think about those nights in Montreal"!
As a Montrealer, I get it!
Since you liked this one, you need to check out his number "Living Inside Myself" which is my favorite! This one is good too!
Living Inside Myself is on my list of all time favorite songs.
So good.
One of my favorite songs from that time. Very romantic. Almost makes me want to go to Montreal.
almost?
I used to rock with this song on my local smooth jazz station when I was a kid. I always sing along when the chorus hits. So many memories from this. Thank you for the video.
My mom loves this album. His voice still sounds great now. I think he's also a vocal coach.
So your mom loves it but you?😃

Another one of my absolute faves! If I remember correctly, he was quite the looker too, which doesn't hurt!
This song was a big hit in late 1978. I remember it well! He had a smaller hit titled The Wheels Of Life which is on the same CD you might like also
He still sounds good to this day.
Love the sexy sax! Baby making music!!😁

'Love of My Life' and 'Fly into the night' from his 'The Gist of Gemini' album are just spectacular!
My hard rocking buddies back in the late 70's hated it when I put on Gino half way through a party, but the woman loved it!
You need to listen to “The Wheels of Life”. Great song by Gino!
