I totally agree with the assessment that the manufacturer pre-packs all have an air of "baby's first pro cymbals" i feel the sizes in those packs dont adequately represent what most pros are playing. 18"+ crashes and 21-22" rides are what most folks are using. I hope that becomes more of the norm in the future. Really cool of you guys to offer this since the big manufacturers can't seem to figure it out.
.....oh my goodness. I LOVE the sound of deep ride toms. I'd love to see those brought back with the techniques being used today. The depth, and warmth is spectacular. And, yes...the cymbal pack is brilliant. As said below, the manufacturer's can't seem to figure it out. So, it's great that DCP did.
My favourite channel on RUclips keeps delivering, thanks guys. It's clear from all the comments that your dedication is totally appreciated. As for the cymbals, l've played a pair of 17/19 K thins for a decade now. To me, they cover the widest range of applications possible out of 2 crashes - punch, projection, smoothness & character. They also have their own voice, meaning it matters which one you hit! By choosing the 14's, you've widened the dynamic range of the pack to the max, whilst maintaining a consistent voice. Great pack, hope they fly off the shelf.
I am a Sabian guy, but I couldn’t find a ride cymbal from them that I really liked. I fell in love with the 22” K ( Traditional finish) 10 years ago, and it is still my favourite ride cymbal. Beautiful wash and ping, and the bell is amazing!!!!!
You guys are fantastic. Hope to visit the shop someday. Keep the great videos coming! Seems Zildjian still producing great cymbals following the big change a few years ago.
Solid playing during demo 1 and demo 3. You really brought the good qualities in those instruments. You were listening like a pro and hitting like a pro. Thanks for running a great shop Shane and sparkle kits rule. Silver sparkle should always be an offering in every damn line! Remember those Yamaha sparkle fades and bursts in the days of the absolute series line? Great times.
Drum Brother Tom, you have gotten so INTENSE; what a fantastic Drummer! Peace and Blessings 2024 Y'all. The cymbal pack is great. For me, the crashes are well done, and my least favorite is the hats. All in all, a great new cymbal pack. The DW kit is a winner. I'd like to see a well matched Jazz Pack, small and musical. Shane, stay the course!
You're spot on about wanting slightly bigger crashes and a bigger ride! I'm looking at these exact cymbals right now... but I'll probably settle on Zildjian's standard K cymbal pack because I don't live in the US.
I like that you went with the 14” hi-hats instead of the 15”. They sound amazing! The hi-hats are my favorite of the set. The foot-stepping is very pronounced. This set is near perfect. The 17” crash is just small enough to get some brightness when needed. The 22” blends perfectly with its super dark and balanced tone. 🔥
Damn it's cool to have a drum shop with the buying power and national recognition to make stuff like this happen. I can't count how many times I've watched these videos or just perused the inventory and found myself saying, "WHY couldn't I have had this store when I was coming up"? I would have gotten legitimate advice about the sonic characteristics of the gear I was interested in, not to mention being able to describe to someone what I was looking for sound-wise and being directed to the best options on the market. I'd get the best price and rarely if ever would I have to wait for more stock to come in. Damnit Shane, I don't want to time travel back to high school or be younger than 27 again, but you and the crew DO make a compelling case...
Beautiful sounding cymbal package. I never purchased cymbals like this, but it would certainly make it easier. Those Oak shell DWs had a beautiful combination of warmth and depth. My first professional kit was red sparkle so like Shane, I have a soft spot for that finish too. With the cymbals, everything sounded perfect. Nice video to start off the year guys.
Yup great sound for recording. K Series is just that - a known quantity that can take a beating and maintain stability. Great set. Now to save for six months to avoid interest and fees and having yet another account to manage. Oy. Keep this one in stock for me. I'll visit this summer to buy this set.
I've been hemming and hawing about getting a drum set for over six months now. I used to play in high school but am out of practice. If I do get them (and it's likely) it'll be with you guys!
Good job. Zildjian could learn a lot from you guys on how to promote their cymbals. Most the vids they post you can only really hear the drums, not their cymbals they're supposed to be promoting. 👍
K's are still the absolute best. I think Zildjian must have recently decided to make their cymbals thinner again because that 17" K crash sounds way better than most others I've heard. All the cymbals in this pack sound amazing. Ironically, I usually prefer the sound and "feel" (literally, the way they bounce when hit with the stick) of 18" crashes, so I have two: an 18" K thin, and an 18" K medium thin. The difference in thickness is to create the much needed difference in pitch of the cymbals, which totally works. But now I'm tempted to try at least a couple of 17" and 19" crashes, if they really all sound this good these days.
Love what you did. I ended up doing something similar with a K Sweet pack and adding in 3 dark thin K crashes. I agree some cymbal packs just don’t make sense acoustically. Their sounds fight each other vs blending and helping each other sonically. Then again sometimes that’s also what’s needed. 👍
Great video! My personal favorite setup has been the 15” K Light Hi-Hats or 15” K Fat Hats, 19” K Dark Thin Crash, 19” K Sweet Crash, and a 21” K Sweet Ride
I agree with your philosophy completely. I don’t mind 16” crashes, but prefer larger cymbals overall. I’m glad you went with 14” hats rather than the new trend of 15”. I feel the smaller, tighter hats juxtapose the bigger ride quite nicely. This is a versatile cymbal pack that checks off a lot of boxes, well done. Ever considered a hyper specialized set, say for low volume jazz perhaps? While not as mass marketable, it would be of interest to players who are firmly committed to that style of music. Just a thought. Again, well done the the Optimized pack.
Excellent idea with the cymbal packs, guys. And that DW kit sounds killer. Have a great 2024, and I look forward to more informative and entertaining vids from DCP.
I love some cymbals. Generally, I go for lower volume cymbals and have played lower-priced models and mid-range cymbals from various manufacturers. I like offerings from Sabian, Paiste, Meinl, and Zildjian. IF I could afford any cymbals and price was no barrier, I would choose this set or something similar. There is NOTHING as wonderful as a Zildjian K cymbal. ❤❤❤.
Amazing demo as always. One thing I’d like to see is ride cymbal demos using both wooden and nylon tipped sticks on the bow specifically I know I don’t need to tell you how much difference it can make, maybe that falls into the stick demo category I’m not sure. Just thought I’d throw that out there. Thanks for all the great vids much appreciated.
Man you Nailed it, Zildjian should take your advice ! The Drums are Monsters, those are Precise sounding Cymbals for Zildjian , especially K's, Powerful too (like a couple of the German Made lines) I think Zildjian has refined the Process, definitely they are more consistent, Older K's varied, some really Hit or miss but they had a certain Character and you had to Finess them, but that was the Fun and Challenge of Playing them.
Great idea. Lush sounding cymbals... but the Ride could be darker imo, it has a very bright ping to my ears. Could be the stick choice I guess. Keep up the great work dudes! 🤘
Big fan of the K line. Been using them exclusively for a few years now. The Sabian AA Metal x line is what I played in a hard rock band. K series are far thinner and yet I haven't cracked one yet. They are more musical in my opinion. If your looking for a set of new cymbals these are a great buy. I love the custom pack ideas these guys have. Keep up the great work!
Interesting that you guys opted for 14" hats. I thought you generally preferred 15" or larger. Regardless, those hats sound great, as does the other cymbals and the drums. Great job again, folks.
After collecting almost all the Zildjian lines and many sizes I think the 22" K ride and Hi-hats from the last few years are some of the best all around cymbals. When I have this set up I really like the larger 18+ Sweet crashes with them and 19" ultra hammered A custom china. I also like the K Constantinople 18" crash. This pack would be great for anything. Maybe add the Sweet Crashes and that would be a perfect set for me.
*IT'S ABOUT TIME!!* That ONE (at least one anyway..,) drum manufacturer -pulled- -their- -heads- -ou...- (🤔...ooopppsiiee, strike that..,) *"CAME TO THEIR SENSES,* & put drums back into the category of *_"THUMP!,"_* & *_"THUMP THEY SHALL!"_*__😁😉 Having said that, I can honestly say that, 😀💭"this IS the FIRST time..." in almost FOREVER, that I have actually heard a __*_"minimalist set"_* of *_DW_* drums that *ACTUALLY SOUNDS REALLY GOOD!!!* And of course, THAT VERY *_"K" "cymbal pack,"_* is as *smooth as butter!!!* But again, the absolute "STARS OF THIS VIDEO" (IMHO..,) ARE REALLY, *THE DEPTH* OF THOSE DRUM SHELLS!! I still have my 1990's PEARL Maple, MLX's in Sequoia Red, and with those ridiculously warm, huge, elongated Toms. But *perhaps NOW,* with DW "re-leading" the pack (not to be confused with Shane's Zild. K. "CYMBAL PACK"... 😅) with toms big enough to be blasted off to the heavens and beyond, with just one 💥_*"Ker-Thump,"*_ 💥 ...Other drum manufacturer's should start jumping on, *the huge drum sound and feel, band wagon!!!* *AND Yes, yes..,* those K's have been *paired perfectly* with that drum set, *INDEED!!!* ANYWAY.....😁✌🏼
Great pack! I LOVE the Dark K series cymbals. However... my personal preference is a 15" Sweet hats, 16" K Dark Crash, 18" K Dark Crash and I actually play a 20" Sabian El Sabor Ride. I know that you can't include a Sabian in a Zildjian pack, but to me... if you can get your hands on one still.... this Sabian compliments the K Dark Series very nicely. Amazing wash/crash and a significantly bright/pingy bell.
*Thats a great idea, I’m surprised I’m only now hearing about it. Pick individual cymbals that fit together well as a set, and instead of selling smaller cymbals which very few drummers like now a days, get some 15 hats and 18in-20in crash, and at least 21in rides. That is exactly what I use. 15in foundry hats, 22in sand crash/ride, and a bunch of 18-19-20 crashes. BUT I use 6 and 8 in splashes. You just can’t get that glassy ice sickle sound with larger splashes. So, sounds like I would be you perfect customer if I didn’t already have beautiful cymbals and I’d I played Zildjians. I do play a con over hammered ride some times, that thing fits with the Meinls pretty well and is one of the delicate papery rides I’ve ever heard.*
Stupid question im sure, just curious when you make these videos, after work or during? Love the content and if I lived in the USA I would love to visit!
Sorry, I don't know the guy's name with the beard who played first (should as I watch the vids all the time) but I really like your playing. I play a LOT like Shane, so it's cool to hear a different style represented in the vids. I loved K's and played them for a number of years, but found I needed something brighter as far as crashes go. I think they are wonderful crashes, but adding some A customs in larger sizes really brings life to the sound and contrasts the darkness of the K's. The K hats are nice, but tend to sound a little generic. I guess that these days I'm leaning more to a Paiste type of sound.
The 17” dark k has been my left side crash for over a decade now…paired with a 19” k hybrid on the right, I have basically zero motivation to change it up. It’s too perfect for what I do… EDIT: Whoa! What’s with the DW “acrolite”? I have to look into that…
This could have been perfect for me but you didn’t go bigger on the hats. That’s my only criticism. Other than that, the crashes and ride worked well together.
Another great demo, What's not to like about these Z's ? "I'll see you on the next one" Hmm. Isn't that Adam's trademark closing line ? Beats Shane's w/o further ado .... That was getting a little trite. Jus sayin 😎
These companies need to realize as they keep producing more expensive equipment the average consumer lost 10 to 15 percent of their buying power during the COVID inflationary period. Thats equates to about a 7K to 10K loss a year in discretionary income. MFG of non-essential goods are starting to feel the impact of the loss of buying power. People can barely afford to buy homes and vehicles let alone spend $1000's of dollars on the latest and greatest equipment. During the inflationary period of the 1970's 40% of strong middle-class families ended up lower middle class by 1980. The same is happening in today's economy.
Exactly. Covid didn’t help but we need a reversal of current policies asap. Economy was actually getting better rly late in Trumps term right before he left already. Say what you want about Trumps personality or his bragging too much, but his common sense policies were extremely effective. It rly seems current democrats being way too far left of center, just try to do the exact opposite of whatever he did which is yielding opposite economic results to his. Trump had the the US oil industry booming, ok shut down all US oil drilling and then buy it from Putnin for almost two years. Trump had the border secure, ok completely open the boarder up and put illegal immigrants in five star hotels on tax payer dollars. It’s rly gotten crazy. I think Trump becoming president and doing a pretty good job at it made them lose their minds because all common sense has left the building, White House. No matter whether someone’s a Democrat, independent or republican we should all be able to admit current democrats are too far left to be in power. Vote for policy not some word that you thought you were. I know this isn’t the place but it’s strongly effected my drum gear purchasing so here I lay it. lol. May 2024 be better,
NOBODY does it like DCP!! The absolute definition of top shelf. Much respect! 🫡 🥁
Much love ❤️

An amazing team you have there Shane! Great job.
I love the dark sound
The overall sound of the kit sounds fantastic! You guys could create sample packs out of this kit combination!
We were quite happy with how everything sounded on this one!
SIZES ON THAT GORGEOUS DW KIT. YES PLEASE.
22x16, 13x11, 16x16.
🤤 Drool.
The 13x11 Tom is insane lol

This could have been perfect for me but you didn’t go bigger on the hats. That’s my only criticism. Other than that, the crashes and ride worked well together.
Another great demo, What's not to like about these Z's ? "I'll see you on the next one" Hmm. Isn't that Adam's trademark closing line ? Beats Shane's w/o further ado .... That was getting a little trite. Jus sayin 😎
Is it me or has Shane’s playing gotten significantly better/tighter?
Крутой звук! Обожаю большие и мощные тарелки, после 19 дюймового крэша, 16 дюймовый уже не звучит.
Hey los acabo de adquirir ❤❤❤❤
When he first started grooving it sounded like NIN.
Definitely a cymbal pack with balls...
What’s the weight of the ride?
What model of hi hat stand is that? Thanks
22" Ride 🫠

I know this isn’t the place but it’s strongly effected my drum gear purchasing so here I lay it. lol. May 2024 be better,
“Massive”
Can`t tell if they are super harsh or it`s just the post processing of the video but i don`t like at all how these sound.
How are you listening to it? Not sounding harsh over here.
@@drumcenternh on very good headphones, 4 drivers, and through a Focusrite interface.
