Mr Grant looks like he had so much fun making this film.
@MrWizardGG😂😂
He is so calm that it is terrifying
@MrWizardGG 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who cares? He's paid and we're customers
Our Lady of the Rosary Acts in History, and in Our Souls by Sensus Fidelium.
Someone really, really had a problem with Mormon missionaries knocking on their door, and wrote a script about it.
😅😂😂😂
😂
☝️🤓 Actually, they're not "Mormon Missionaries".
They're Sister Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, and they shouldn't have gone inside until they'd gotten visual and verbal confirmation from the Mrs of her nod of approval to enter her home.
@@TheKrispyfort mormons are a false religion.
@@TheKrispyfort i think the church kinda blew it with the rebrand, they already spent millions on an astoundingly successful ad campaign that locked in the Mormon moniker in the minds of the average person.
You can definitely tell that Grant had so much fun in playing his recent roles, like in The Gentlemen and Dungeons & Dragons
For sure. Hugh has definitely been showing off his range more in his recent roles and it's nice to see.
I wouldn't know whether he has had fun or not, but it's certainly been a breath of fresh air to see him play mischievous villains. He was great in Dungeons & Dragons.
I did. Really was a blast to film, paid great too. Hope y'all enjoyed my performance

As a scaredy cat, I can’t wait to read the Wikipedia plot recap of this movie.
SAAAAME
I thought that I am the only one who is doing it 😅😅😅
I have found my people! I don’t handle jump scares well at all. I avoid most horror and wait for someone to kindly write the wiki page.
@@MissLisSpeaks Haha same!! I like the horror/thriller genre but I dont like jump scares. Even right now I’m reading about Longlegs on Reddit instead of watching the movie 😅
Me too 😂.
Hugh Grant as a horror villian feels so right. Don't think he ever did those before.
Ever see The Undoing? He was phenomenally villainous in that!
He is phenomenal in it.
I was afraid that it would be another dumb slasher horror movie, and it was the furthest from it.
Way more interesting and engaging than I expected. 9/10
@@Roman-tu3vh , yes 🙂
This was really, really good. If you love tense, intelligent dialogue and don't need jumpscares to enjoy a thriller, definitely watch this. The movie really makes you think and the performances were all excellent.
You know if it's A24 and a horror movie, it's gonna be a banger.
Yep looks good
Any A24 movie gonna be good ,no matter horror or anything else
It's so odd that a hands off no studio interference approach actually produces good movies people are interested in.
@@cinephilebuddy1a24 is overrated
Real
I love anything by A24, but I’m so please Hugh Grant is taking roles like this. He’s wonderful in anything he does and this looks brilliant.
Agreed. Studio A24 has really been putting out some real gems.
MUST CONSOOM THE A24

@@suttone75 Boy, I sure do. Whenever I see A24 at the beginning of the movie, I know it’s gonna be good.

That's funny, the Mormon version of Saw !!!😅😂
@@rakawage just take your like bro, I'm howling lmaooooo 😂😂😂
This likes the the BETTER version of saw.
Starts a bit similar to Human Centipede.
I don't think it's going to be gory and torture like. It's probably just going to be trying to escape a maze and some traps.
I like it when actors are able to reinvent themselves and accept other types of roles. I congratulate Hugh Grant and I hope he continues acting for a long time.
One thing A24 gonna do it’s flip that camera upside down
accurate 😂
i saw the movie two days ago and you where right
Love the career choices Hugh Grant has been making in his later years
Agreed this plus the Gentleman. It’s nice seeing his range outside his “stumbling awkwardly appealing charm” phase.
The Undoing blew me away!
Another woke movie 🎥 by Hollywood
I just watched the movie and HUGH GRANT!!! I love him as a villain!!!! I thought it was fantastic. Great plot, great script, great twists and turns.
Hugh Grant has entered the "I don't care about my image, I just want to have fun" stage of his career and it has been thoroughly entertaining
Hugh Grant Im in! no one can play a delightful bad guy like him!
Hugh Grant is getting better and better when he ages. Who knew he would fit in horrors instead of romantic comedies😍
He was also in extreme measures from 1996, where he plays the doctor where people are dying in the hospital.
Real range as an actor
Charm is a tool, a deception by its very nature, probably used far more for bad than good.
I've been in love with him since Notting Hill
Utterly compelling. Love Hugh.
Here in Indonesia where it's a very religious country, I'm sure movies like this will be underrated & slept by people. Few people will probably ever watch such daring & risky film, let alone to deeply understand the messages of the film. I truly admire the filmmaker for being courageous enough to make a bold, non cookie-cutter movie like this! Finally, a high-quality movie that can be discussed deeply & makes people think.
Religious films tend to get lost in the mix because they are either OVERTLY religious, and that's usually terrible; or they simply use religion as a frame for a story - a common cultural reference point. I actually saw a FANTASTIC horror film from an Iranian filmmaker (based in the UK because of a fatwah or something) that used the 1970's revolution and the Islamic concept of djinn to tell a fantastic horror story. It wasn't an "Islamic movie", or a "religious movie", but it used those elements well. (Similar to "The Exorcist" - it's a film steeped in Catholicism, but it's not a Catholic movie, if that makes sense. Whereas the recent sequel was criticized the most for actually ignoring the Catholic aspect of exorcism.......a specifically Catholic practice, and the antagonist of the film was specifically a demon from Catholic mythology. You can't simply excise Catholicism from the story and expect it to remain a coherent thing!)
I think my objection is that so many film makers - or storytellers in general - simply discard religion entirely instead of treating like a piece of our real world - distasteful or not.
It's a bit like seeing images of streets without any of the garbage, or the electrical wires, all the ugly things you never think of, but you definitely notice when they aren't there, because it's not real. There's a whole scene about that in the documentary "Crumb", about the artist Robert Crumb. Fascinating man and a fascinating movie, if you want to listen to some new ideas on what art is and musings on how awful the '60s were.
Será um favor para você não poder assistir. Filme péssimo. 😂😂
@@ajrollo1437 i have to second the other comment, what was the movie? You can't just tell us you saw a brilliant movie and then not mention the title lol
Lol WTAF! This movie doesnt make anyone think. It's typical Hollywood ie dumbed down for mindless mainstream audiences with no ability to think critically or laterally. It's very ironic to make a film about people who cannot think for themselves but then explain every single thing in a way you would explain for 5 year olds.
His face after they ask "What happens if we choose the wrong door?" Is perfectly showing how he knows, and doesn’t want them to pick the wrong door, but he still can't tell them anything.
😩😂😂 I wanna know too, so I will be watching
He knows that any choice they make will be incorrect. He's SO happy about that....
I see it more as a deliciously villainous "ohhh you don't want to pick the wrong door" kind of look, like he knows something terrible will happen to them, but doesn't really care, but he still puts on a sociopathic mask of kindness. It looks like it's gonna be a legendary performance from Grant.
It's so good, watches it yesterday and it totally blew my expectations.
Totally not what you think, or is it?
^That sentence not said in the movie, it's how I would describe it and basically the character's motivation
I think he knows there is no right door
i love when i come to watch a trailer to see what the film is fully about just to get no answers- now thats a real trailer
Just watched the movie, came back here to say it's fantastic.
A24 and Hugh Grant, i'm sold.
I saw this movie yesterday and it was a great peace of acting from Hugh Grant, and I hope this spells a return to the cameras for Hugh...

grant really nailed this role, showing his immense versatality. well done.
Hugh grant has a deeply unsettling face when it comes to this. It's perfect ❤
This was one of the best movies ive ever seen.
I was the opposite. Gave up on it after 45 minutes. 😂

00:55 That's the "Inferno Chart" from Dante Alighieri poem, "The Divine Comedy." This seems like it's gonna be very entertaining.
Dante's inferno! The circles of hell. I didn't even notice until I read your comment. Just did some research. This is going to be a wild ride.

Hugh Grant sporting the serial killer glasses. This movie is going to be good!
Holy crap a movie coming out that actually looks good. God bless
BRAVO to this! This was amazing. A24 rarely disappoints. They are redefining the horror genre with films that make you think. There is a time and a place for ax wielding maniacs, and then there is intellectual horror. These A24 films are never as literal as their trailers. This movie keeps you guessing and was very suspenseful. The first half is a little slow because you’re expecting it to be paced differently due to horror generally moves faster…BUT they are setting up the story and every detail and every piece of dialogue matters later. This gets in your head and in a good way. It challenges people to THINK. The two lead actresses were amazing and I've never cared for Hugh Grant movies, but he is deliciously evil in this. Very well written and highly recommended.
This movie was so good, very smart and entertaining
Really good. Hugh is mesmerising. Loving these darker roles he’s playing as he ages. Can see him winning an Oscar for said type. The two girls were excellent too.
Saw this yesterday and highly recommended !
Have watched it twice already and loved it. Very thought provoking.
Hugh Grant is magnificent
Hugh Grant such a top actor
Hugh Grant took oodles of pleasure playing this character.
Fantastic movie! Bravo! from an Inactive LDS member who served a full time mission.
I watch everything that A24 puts out and this film is no exception! Can’t wait!!
A movie I’m looking forward to watch which is a rarity. Who knew Hugh Grant would evolve into such a great (and some times evil) badass actor as he matured.
I thought he did a good job in Sense and Sensibility. He's always been quite good, this just shows his experience and ability to improve over time.
@@danielcobia7818he has always been enjoyable and likable - not saying he wasn’t talented in his earlier days
@@nadagabri5783 That's fair, I don't think I thought you were saying he wasn't in the past. If you got that impression I'm sorry I phrased it in such a way as to come off that way.
Hugh Grant is obviously amazing but to see Sophie Thatcher in this movie is one of the most exciting part of this movie for me. I adore her in Yellowjackets and Prospect and i cannot wait to see what is her future in acting. She's fantastic 🙌
She is on her way to become a Scream Queen 🙌
she's so underrated, love her acting

Great movie!! Not what I expected, a slow burn for sure, but High Grant nailed that charming psychotic character to a T. Both of the girls delivered their roles perfectly and made the movie that much more intense and creepy!
The only thing bad about this film is that it's not coming out earlier!
i got to see an early screening at a film festival and you wont be dissapointed! one of the best movies ive seen this year
Jhon are u ok this has to be the worst weirdest movie iv ever seen. Story line acting the characters just worst ever ever

Hugh Grant ages like an excellent wine. Grant Cru.
Honestly though
Whoever made the trailer, well done!
Recent horror or thriller movies have been uniteresting to me, but I'm looking forward to see this movie!
The best trailer yet for this one! Looks like a must watch.
It's a solid movie. Grant's acting is second to none, original story.
So what was that thing in the girls arm ???
So glad Hugh Grant has broken out of his typecasting. He was great in The Gentleman, looking forward to this.
I don't usually like Hugh Grant movies but he played his character well in this.
I’m gonna guess each level of the house represents a circle of hell
Good call. We saw the Dante’s Inferno referenced.
Nope. The trailer is the best part of the movie. The plot was shit, there was nothing to the movie. Both doors lead to the same thing. Genuinely the worst movie of the year
@@noahbalulisit was a metaphor. The doors going to the same place meant that no matter what you believe (or don’t believe), we all end up in the same place. The “horror” came from them beginning to question the very thing they believed with all their heart. The film itself is a metaphor of deconstruction of religion. That’s why it ends the way it does (no spoilers for anyone). I mean, without spoiling, the title “Heretic” is shown to be blurred at the end. Mimicking the idea that she was so convinced in the fact that he was a heretic in the beginning of the movie, but as she got to questioning her own beliefs, the idea of him being a “heretic” became blurred.
The movie is meant to be her own personal journey through deconstruction. How the realization of the nonexistence of your faith and religion can be jarring at first, you don’t want to believe it. You suppress it (like how she revealed at the end that she knew about the prayer experiment all along but chose not to believe it). But as you begin to go deeper you realize that your religion likely borrows from other religions, and that you have no reason to believe that your “prophet” is not a false prophet.
The true “horror” wasn’t Hugh Grant’s character. It was the idea of realizing your life has been a lie, and coming to terms with that
@@noahbalulisyou seem like you need constant jump scares to be entertained.
@@noahbalulisbro you are not a movie buff or analyst

Went to see this last night. It was a good movie ❤
The best part of watching “Joker: Folie a Deux” in IMAX last night.
And this looks so much better.
Is the joker sequel worth seeing? I have seen some really horrific reviews, and have considered just waiting for it to come out instead of seeing it in the theater. The movie in this video looks really good. A horror movie, but more of a puzzle or a study. It looks like my kind of film.
@@billj4525 Honestly, it has some decent moments, but even with its thought-provoking material, it suffers from the top of the original.
I will say, watching it in IMAX for the cinematography and chaos was worth it. But, I’m saving the rest of my money for the majority of A24 films coming out for the rest of the year.

A24 has been casually dropping banger after banger for years now.
Agreed. Quickly scanning their list of films I can’t think of another production company who has such a consistent high quality list of releases. I feel like they release high quality films for people who appreciate solid filmmaking, but also want to be entertained
@@mikemcmike6427 Yes! I can't agree with your comment more. A production company that caters to those who truly appreciate well-made films. I don't want to sound conceited at all, but it just feels like they want to deliver films that don't intellectually hold your hand up a mountain filled with flashy explosions and 4th wall shattering jokes. I think there's a reason most of their produced films don't land well with the mainstream lol.
Some of their older films (and I mean some) are just flops. But I agree, recently, putting out bangers!
The one that won the Oscars was garbage though...
Just watched it, it was as good as I hoped it would be. Highly recommend it!

It's a lot of fun! A bit slow perhaps and if you don't like a lot of dialogue (about theology and philosophy), this might not be the one for you.
I'd say that if you liked The Menu, you'll like this one as well. Characters trapped in a remote location, having to use their wits to overpower the villain (deliciously played by Hugh Grant, in this case).
Oh he was brilliant, I don't want to spoil but I feel like it actually needed more dialogue and less gore and shock factor in the last hour. Thoroughly enjoyed it tho
This looks so good honestly

I think Hugh Grant is getting better as he’s getting older. This was a great movie 💜
This movie is great. Saw it at Fantastic Fest. Wonderfully tense with great puzzles and fantastic dialogue.
Do any of the girls die?
@@kinetic-cybernetic that would be telling. No spoilers from me. I will say that the primary tension comes from dialogue and situation. The writer/directors stated before our showing that this movie was born out of an idea to see if they could make a film where the horror comes from what is said (and how) more than more traditional tropes. I think it works great.
This looks AWESOME... Hugh Grant is going to kill it in this role .
