As a GK inspired by Casillas, he will always be the best GK for me, and for those of you who wonders why Buffon is still good at an older age is because GK skill doesn’t just leave you given that there’s nothing that impacted the person like severe injuries or health problems. I haven’t played in like 5 years but my instincts to fly and chase the ball is still there like it was my first championship. Football for life ❤️

Buffon in his golden years was the best no doubt in reality (and even on fifa lv. 97), and the most continuous too for many years at high level, still at 40 years old (lv. 89), now he's 44 and still playing... he can be compared just with Zoff and Yashin both retired at 41 playing still good... these are the biggest legends in history in the role of GK, then comes the others like Casillas Neuer Kahn ecc.

Casillas is significantly better than buffon, buffon only got 97 rated card cause fifa were just throwing high rated card those days. just look at it 2004-2005 wasn't even prime casillas(he was still 2nd best in the world) but he got 94-95) rated card with 99 potential. Buffon had a great longevity to his career but playing long dosent make you the best or greatest. By that logic Zlatan is better than Zidane/Ronaldinho or R9. Casillas has always been significantly better than buffon throughout the years and has won ever single major award. Prime casillas left buffon in his shadows, from the start of his career to 2012 casillas has done everything that an amazing player needs to do with his glittering career. he just had a bad downfall due to injuries and health issues but he is still way clear of buffon.
Casillas and Buffon are/were world class GKs, probably some of the best ever. But I think Neuer is still a bit better, because he revolutionised the GK game imo.

Well for me at least they are par form each other, i mean when buffon at the peak, the best gk is the one who suit defensively, but when Neuer peak, the best is the one who played Ovenssive gk, both great in their Playstyle, both great in they're generation

Casillas was a phenomenon from the beginning of his career while Neuer only started to draw attention in 2010 (He started his career in 2006)
Casillas competed with better goalkeepers in his prime (Kahn, Buffon, Van Der Sar, Cech, Dida.....) while Neuer had a simpler path (Courtois and De Gea practically)
Casillas has taken more penalties in both World Cup and UEFA Champions League (In the Champions League he is the record holder with 7 saves)
Casillas had 15 years of high level (2000 - 2014) while Neuer had 10 (2010 - 2017......2020 - 2021) remembering that he had an injury in 2018 and only returned to play well 2 years later

I am German and FOR ME Neuer will always be number 1 as he shaped my childhood. I am not a Bayern Munich fan, but I have always loved to watch him. I never played club football but every day with friends at school on the football field and loved being in goal, I think because of him.
It may be that the other goalkeepers are or were perhaps better performance-wise, but FOR ME it will always be Neuer.
