I'm in the process of doing this I bought the DCS kit and work on the engine 5.9 12v Pump, it will go into a Excursion, I did learn from your video it well explained and you covered much more in 20 minute than other video I have watch! Thank you
Did this 8-9 years ago, best thing ever. I actually bought the whole kit and threw half of that away because it was garbage and I could do it better. Ford alternator is the only way IMO. Contemplating doing my SRW truck next.
Great video, Saw'doff. I did a 4bt in my F150 and used all factory Ford/Cummins parts except for the AC adapter and alternator mount. It is super do-able. My F150 had the M5OD-R2 transmission so anything small block Ford will bolt up. They even make a flywheel for that set up. I had gas to diesel conversion stuff on my truck that you didn't because you started with a diesel, but it is all fairly common sense. I eliminated the tank switching stuff and installed a new 38 gallon tank in the rear and hogged out the fill neck.
IIRC all 98 12 valves were made in the latter half of 98. by the time the year actually started, 24 valves were already rolling off the production line. I believe you are correct, with the .5 year noting the change.
Important note, the ksb operates opposite between i/c and non i/c ve pumps, 12 v to the ksb on an i/c pump advances the timing, 12v to the ksb on a non ic un advances the timing,
@@7275vrtit doesn't retard it, it puts it to normal timing, 12v to ic pump= cold start advance, 12v to non ic pump = normal timing, no 12v to non ic pump keeps it in cold start advance.
putting this one in the back pocket for future me to consult cuz im a stunned idiot

Glad to hear it
Hell yeah! Who doesn't love a Fummins build? I'm partnered with 8 Lugs No Plugs and we'd like to share some clips of yours and tag you!
Go ahead...giver...no problem... I will check your channel out
@@captaindipchit Awesome, thank you!

Switching valves are a weak point for sure
This is great, thank you for explaining everything and showing the differences between engines. definitely saving this for later. Thanks man!
Kinda sucks that this is the only way to leave a comment.
You really are an excellent teacher, I wish you had time to post more often.
My day is not a waste as I learned something. Learned that I have a lot to learn about diesel engines.
I love the sweeping donuts in the field! Nice.
Dodge made a great shipping crate for these engines 👍
Nice summary of the bits 'n pieces.
great video with the nitty-gritty notes
Great video!!! I'll be putting a cummin it one of my 11 obs Ford trucks hopefully soon!
0:01 I believe it's a 1994-1998 12v, not 1998.5 correct me if I'm wrong. Now, 1998.5 means it has a 24v Cummins. I'm just saying.
They made the 12 valve up to 1998.5, after that it was 24 so technically he's right

98 to 98.5 was a 12 valve h.o. bigger injection pump delivery valves for more horsepower
6:40 that's Todd Howard's line haha

Unadvances. Aka retards. Ya retard

Thanks lot of good info
I like this kind of video about the details
How much for the p pump bods
What did you do for brakes? Use the cummins vacum? Or went with hydroboost?
Cummins vac pump hosed to ford brake pot
Hell yeah! Glad someone posted useful videos instead of garbage that tells you nothing but to promote their shit channel. Keep er up Sawed-off!😅
I love you
Fuckin prices are wild
Good information, but... those motor mounts make baby Jesus cry...
wait ya gots to bobbit ya driveshaft? them cummmins really are from 1992
Beddy nice
Put the Cummins in the Dodge in hopes of people buying it. But they didn’t do anything with there transmissions. Their transmission suck.💁🏼♂️💁🏼♂️💯💥🎤
