- The Churchs one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord,
She is His new creation
By water and the Word.
From heaven He came and sought her
To be His holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her
And for her life He died.
My father always hummed this hymn and I never truly knew the words. He passed in 2000. For the past couple of days I have been humming this hymn. I had to beg my mom for any words she could remember and I used that to search and search until I found it! R.I.P Daddy!
Praise Jesus, may your pops be resting in eternal bliss with our Father Lord
Powerful song it defines the true house of god many churches cannot sing that song
I became a Christian in January, 1994. Jesus has never failed me, although I have failed Him countless times, more times than I care to admit. Yet, He called me with the foreknowledge that I was not, and am not, perfect; not even fit to utter His Name or the names of the Early Christians on my dirty lips. Yet, He has given me the Hope, and the assurance, that I will someday dwell in His presence with them---the happy ones and holy, as the hymn calls them, "like them---the meek and lowly." Thank you, Lord Jesus, for calling me into the Church victorious and the promise that, in Your Kingdom, she shall be the Church at rest.
Listening in my bed on a sunday morning in a desert land where there's no church nearby. To God be the glory.
There are 2 churches that I know of that either live stream and or repost services and sermons online. So I imagine there are a lot more. Maybe finding one could help since there isn't one near you.
If you'd like you watch and listen to mvccof tucson on youtube
Mid toil, and tribulation and tumult of her war She waits the consummation of peace forever more Till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blessed And the great church victorious shall be the church at rest
This hymn is beautiful. It reminds me that no matter what happens, how much pain we’re in, and how hard we are struggling to keep going. Jesus is always there to forgive, and to pick us up, and to love us forever. And that he has a place waiting for us in heaven so that we can be at peace and finally meet him face to face.
I absolutely love this hymn's words! I love Jesus a little more each time I hear these words. I love how He loves us and left heaven for us so that ONE DAY we can meet and never part again!
Praise the Lord! Prepare your hearts and minds daily, get ready and stay ready for we will soon see the King coming in clouds of glory.
Jesus Christ is the rock on which we stand.Glory to his name.
He is along with his Church, the Catholic Church
Amen
This song came to me out of nowhere like there’s a angels are singing it nearby
I’m happy I found it and remembered, so beautiful Gods love for us
I remember singing this song as a child. and today, in remembering, I looked it up
my college's alma mater is based of this song.....i love it
That is how I wound up here today as well.
Ditto
Amen .No other name under heaven and earth .Our Cheif Cornerstone .
I just love being Anglican Episcopalian we have some good songs in our church
Yes, you do. I belong to the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church.
"Mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won" - in other words, our loved ones who have departed from this world and one day we will be with them again. I love and miss you so much Anton and I can't wait till that day. Until then you'll live on in my heart. I love you so much :(
frances this (eternal fellowship assurance we get through our Lord Jesus Christ through grace ) is the very thing that inspires me every second of my life :) ... when I feel low I always realise that these hardships are nothing and fade away, compared to the upcoming life which lies beyond the skies ☺️....
Does it sound like it's prauying to departed saints though?
This has to be---HAS TO BE---my favorite hymn of all time; and my perpetual interest in the Early Christians is addressed in what, in this version, is the final stanza presented.
I was moved to tears by this wonderful hymn that just says it all to me about our Christian faith. When I was a child, we had a "Walking Day" every summer comprising hundreds of children and adults with flags and banners of St Mark's C of E, Church, Newtown, Wigan. We would start by all amassing by the doors of our beloved church and singing this hymn to the tune of brass bands. Where has this world gone to ?
Geoffrey Walsh I remember it well, I sang in the choir at St Marks from 1979 to 1987, It has always been one of my favourite hymns
I love this hymn. It takes me back to my childhood. It is a holy and worshipful hymn. Thank you for making this available.
HI Kristine. I'm Luiz and I've been studying English for 2 years. I'm a Christian and I need to develop my English skills. Could you help me ? I need to talk in English. I hope that you can help me. Gob bless you a lot.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (June 23), I played this for Sunday School Assembly. I did so because our Lesson for the day was from Colossians 2:1-15, which compliments this hymn, regardless of denomination.
ELCA is not Lutheran stop using our name
@@chsrogiematthewpanares1551 It has been that since January 1, 1988.
Jesus cares not about denominations. Denominations in the Christian faith are merely political in a sense and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! For if they do, the have alterior motives!!
My wish and prayer is to sing this song before the lord after this life on earth 🙏
This words of this hymn express beautifully the mission , purpose and foundation of God's people on earth
God bless the composer's of this hymn. It is my heart. Am satisfied
Mind boggling Hymn!!! Untiring to listen repeatedly!!!
My all time favorite hymn. I have loved it since I was young, at Vacation Bible School. Part of our lesson each week, was to go through the words of each verse and the Pastor taught us the meaning. I have treasured this hymn ever since. Thank You, Father...
Let me intrude once more just to say . . . thanks again, a thousand times over, for posting this magnificent hymn.
My dad sang this when he was a choirboy. He taught me the words and although he passed away 3 years ago, this hymn is often in my head and makes me believe he is still with me.
For some reason, this hymn will make me cry so hard that it physically hurts my throat and chest muscles!
I used to sing this song every Sunday. I think it was probably a favorite
Bob chokes up every time he sings it because he learned the bass line singing next to his dad.
One of my favorite hyms
Thank you my Lord and Personal Saviour Jesus Christ!
Ah, this hymn. I remember once substituting on the organ so my mother could have a week off, I had planned this for a postlude, but the minister wanted to change one of the hymns. Ironically, it was to this. Needless to say, we were rooted in the same place that week. I ended up just swapping the two.
I remember one Sunday our Pastor left his Sermon notes in his Study and he went to get them and just said to sing a hymn......so one elder asked for a suggestion and I mentioned this song......he asked me for the page number and as he opened his hymnal he laughed and said his finger was right there at this song.
My Dad’s favorite hymn. Thx for the memory.
Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for your blessings and mercy and love and Grace. Please keep me in your heart and keep my family safe and healthy and happy as a family of Christ and let peace and happiness and togetherness come into our lives and bestow your love and support on us.. Let us continue to grow stronger and stronger in every moment of our lives with Jesus Christ, Amen.
The Lamb of GOD, shed His Blood on behalf of the forgiveness of our sins, making the atoning sacrifice. Than The Risen Christ shall return for His church and be with Him in eternal glory.
Hi Ronald. I'm Luiz and I've been studying English for 2 years. I'm a Christian and I need to develop my English skills. Could you help me ? I need to talk in English. I hope that you can help me. Gob bless you a lot.
Beautiful Hymn!
Beautiful!
We sang this hymn whenever the Pastor had the ceremony for new members.
A beautiful summary of eternal truths.
whata nice hymn long live organ in church
I cry whenever I listen to this hymn 😔😔😔
This is my favorite hymn. It was also in the movie one foot in heaven
Keith & Kristyn Getty have a new album that just came out on 6/17/16 called "Facing A Task Unfinished". The title track is a new song done to the tune of this old hymn, with a modernized bridge added. Very lovely album. Lots of new modern hymns.
Why do none of the versions on RUclips have the middle verse that goes thusly?
Though with a scornful wonder
we see her sore oppressed,
by schisms rent asunder,
by heresies distressed,
yet saints their watch are keeping;
their cry goes up, "How long?"
And soon the night of weeping
shall be the morn of song.
***** Yes! That was the verse which moved me to search for this song.
***** They don't?? hm. I'm gonna try and research it.
Fire Heart found it? My church sang this song. It has the missing verses.
Still searching. I've seen some videos with the verse but the tune and/or the arrangement has been changed
Fire Heart The Lutheran Warbler has one with the verse in it and it is the same tune although not professionally done.
Thats one heck of an Amen!!!!! Greatly made video, and the music is great!!!!! It sounds really great right now because our organ is being repaired.
Hallelujah.
Praise to the Lord on this Holy Sabbath Day.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let us be united in our prayers and praise to the Almighty God for the Foundation of the Unity of Christian Churches.
"The foundation of our unified life together in the Church is the Spirit of the Living God, the one who holds us together."
"Timothy 3:16 says that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives."
In christainity, Faith in Jesus Christ is essential in repentance and salvation of sins
Hallelujah
BLESSED BE LORD FOR EVER.
Brings back memories of sophomore year traveling choir before corona hit

One of my Favourite hymns ❤️❣️
It's a great hymn
A beautiful rendition of great truths
Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three in One And mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won
O happy ones and holy Lord, give us grace that we Like them, the meek and lowly on high may dwell with Thee
I love this hynm - brought tears to my eyes... :')
Just wanted to thank you and let you know that we are very much enjoying including your excellent videos in the worship sessions at the new English-speaking church that we have started in Boquete, here in the west of Panama, Central America.
Thank you for sharing, and may God bless you in your ministry.
This is a great hymn. I remember it from lutheran church
ANOTHER GREAT HYMN.."THE CHURCH IS ONE FOUNDATION"
Great tune, as have so many hymns, not sure about this rendition though!
I liked this but is that a piano in the background and a violin? That spoiled it, just use the organ !!!
I agree. This version is awful, the mix is all wrong and the tune is plodding rather than tuneful.....and plenty of wrong notes!!. Great tune, though
Everyone is a critic.
Absolutely! and I always say when things are good, I also say when things just are not right as here where the organ should be the only accompaniment.
No I really liked the CG violin lul
Better yet full Orchestra
Says it all Maranatha
Do not base your faith on feelings, or popular and mainstream ideas. Sola scriptura - His principles contained in His word, which stands true forever.

Beautiful
She on earth has union, and mystic sweet communion, with those whose rest is won.
In the days of Whit Walking Days, bands would play this as they marched by the 'host' Parish church. Double beat on the drum to signal change of music and of pace to slow march.
感谢神
and amen to god be the glory.!
Can I please use this for our online church service? Thanks
Praise God.

The true Church is made up of everyone through the ages who has turned to Christ and is in humility and obedience following Him. They are each part of the Bride, and if they continue therein, they will be at the marriage supper of the Lamb. End of story. Luke 9:23, Rev 7:9, John 14:21, James 1:24-26. Any particular club may have Christ-followers in it, and may have those who aren't, but just being a part of any of the clubs will gain you no points with Jesus at the marriage supper, no matter how proud you are of your nice club. Revelation 3:4. His question will be: Where is your garment? Matthew 22:11-12. Oh my how sad. We must watch and pray, follow Him in obedience and humility. 1 Peter 2:20-22, Philippians 2:1-16.
The true church is the heat not young seveth day born yestaday
Great inspiration
Outside of my Lutheran Hymnal..I do not know. I do believe I have heard it on RUclips somewhere....so I will look..not sure when I will find it though!
AHoly Hymn of the One{s} Blessing of Creation, that is the wholiness, so Love and peace will rest in our living lives.. And in the deepest darkest Night still there the Allmighty lightens our will enlightens darkness
Even there where all is still.
Amen Katharina Scharlowski
With regards to V.T. who told me to hope in deepest heart
and Joan Baez whose lesson and gift to me is Love embracing Peace
As for the worlds relief.
The 2nd one is: The Church's One Foundation
drolas94 . It has a picture of a tiny chapel on a hill. Sung by a man..I don't know the name but what is nice is that he sings clearly.
thank you :)
It's the hymn book "Hymns Ancient and Modern" used in the Church of England (usually).
Need to hear this by individual
Hymn!!!
Indeed. The lyrics are in fact by the Victorian High Churchman Samuel John Stone, an Anglican canon at St Paul's Cathedral. The Roman Catholic Church doesn't have a monopoly either on English hymns or on catholicity!
Yes we do
what's wrong w/ the 63 that rated this fine video?
Amen!
Is it time to throw this free phone in the lake?
"The dogs all had a meeting, They came from near and far..."
I love hymns ... I'm irreligious
Christianity is the best code though
The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ, her Lord!
She is His new creation by water and the word From heaven He came and sought her to be His holy bride With His own blood He bought her and for her life He died
The church of believers looks to the reunion with her Lord the bridegroom
Ó Rosa de Sarom...
