My only criticism of this comment is that you have written far too few "beautiful"s. It is beautifully tender, soaring, strident, and inspiring.
I thank God for the song now in a position to be heard singing. We all must thak God for the Saint who built and originated the song. There are many spiritual churches today whom they do not this song. The scriptural depth of meaning a full revelation to the then person God had given and let us sing this very often for Gods orople to know
It was Amazing the way that young Lady sang the song and me head Bowden my head for the mighty choir which participated to enrich the song to be sung. Thank God Angela godess is well pleased

Ah, yes, that great last stanza! What's one more minute when you've already assembled such a fine group of musicians? There are hardly any recordings so dynamic of this great old song. Ah! You caught me. I'm the one who orchestrated it (and am directing the orchestra above). Whenever I'm writing an arrangement of a hymn, I always read through the hymn and check it against my understanding of the biblical text. In this case, the "mystic sweet communion" with the dead is the part that put me off the verse. I think I sort of know what the author intends, but that's a line that's always made me a little uncomfortable not least because of the possibility of mis-interpretation of it, either wilful or accidental. So there you go. That's why the verse is missing from this arrangement :-) Thank you for listening though, and I hope you enjoyed the performance of this amazing piece.

Interesting!!! What was the discomfort for you? I’ve never even thought about it’s meaning but I do like the poetry of it- “mystic sweet communion” is such a lovely line. Do tell more
@@lorin80 Hi! exactly that line. It is beautiful poetry, but very obscure meaning. If indeed it is suggesting we have a mystic communion with the dead, I'm uncomfortable with the theology behind that statement :-)
Wonderful and powerful diction reveals the power and prophetic insight nature of this hymn. In many cases, we dare not sing that third verse and it has been removed from many modern hymnaries.

An immortal song
Makes me cry every time I hear or. Just read the hymology today. Very enlightening. We would be good to heed the warning to keep doctrine sound. Not be the PC church we see everywhere today. Yes, we should welcome all, but sin is sin is sin. And without fruit there's no hope. I pray God gives us eyes to see and ears to hear the truth in these last days.

It should have been a harp there instead of a piano, I think, and to much vibrato in the voice for my taste.

She doesn’t handle this piece well. The song is larger than her voice. She keeps switching registers from chest to head voice. So you can hear the struggles in her voice as she tries to sing the higher notes. She either wasn’t prepared for how big and wide ranging this piece was or she knew and still decided to perform it. Either way, there could e been greater preparation- especially when the accompaniment is a orchestra. The voice/singing needs to be as grand and as dramatic as the orchestra. Otherwise it doesn’t match/work.
