One of my favourite RUclips channels. I love the crafts and the new channels with the dolls house even more now. Watching your videos is like therapy for the soul. I don’t think anything else relaxes me as much as your videos.
My father remembers the workhouse at the bottom of St Luke’s Road, Leeds, when he was a youngster (He was born in 1925) The York Workhouse where my grandmother was born, was turned into York Hospital
I have a 2nd cousin who was born in a workhouse near Bournemouth in 1936, she and her mother had to stay for 4 years to pay back the “care” they received!
It never ceases to amaze me that you find useful/ interesting things among the vast, mono colored beach debris..the journey they took to land where you find them..and a new tide will always bring more..may you continue to get better Kate, and thank you always for the joy of sharing with you the beauty of past.
I was a nurse in Preston Hospital in North Shields which had been a workhouse ( named Tynemouth Union Workhouse). There were definite vibes in parts of that place…could feel the unhappy history of it.
I applaud the Sherd Stories idea, although the subject this time was very depressing. I've always enjoyed having pottery/porcelain pieces featured in their own separate clip, such as what the West Country Mudlarks do. 😍😁 There are so many stunning patterns to be found. Great video, ladies. Congrats on more beautiful beads. See you next time. 😊🥰💛👍
I enjoy learning the history of your artifacts, as well as seeing the treasures you find. You are sunshine on those cold dreary days that you go Mudlarking.
That is an absolutely awesome medallion you found. I owe my life and sobriety to AA and loved being able to pick up my sobriety chips each month. What I wouldn’t give to find one of those!! I love that history!! Another fabulous larking ladies!!❤
Kate looks like Paddington bear lol too cute! :) I watched alot of time team the burnish ware has crude bits in it. Great finds and eagle eyes ladies for the beads. :) :)
14:52 Mortarium en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortarium. I”m definite it’s Roman; seems narrow for a mortar but the surface is very curious. The Romans were excellent with ceramics and glass. Amazing finds. ❤Feel better, Kate!
That white round thing you called from a tap could come from an organ. It's attached to a wooden stick and called manual. To change settings on the organ
Fleur and Kate, Thanks for taking us to your beach to lark with you. Lots of beads, odd finds and history to accompany the finds. Congrats on your Roman pottery, Fleur. Please take good care of each other. We Love You. ( : Nance in Nor Cali.
Wishing you a quick recovery Kate, you did well to stay at the beach and have a great day larking. From my comfy seat that beach looks very difficult, so much broken crockery etc. You both must have eagle eyes to spot the things you do find. Don't have a favorite, love them all!!! Have a good week, catch you up on your other channel. xx
Kate, you’re wearing one of my favorite colors on your nails! Love the little pot. I so enjoy you and your mama, my mama and I had a sweet relationship
I was amazed when you found the tiny bit of pottery with Berlin on it. My daughter was born in West Berlin in 1974 when the wall was still there. My husband was stationed there with the USAF.
They still used some of the old workhouses for homeless families well into the nineties and they still weren't very nice places to be and the attitude with which the people and families hadn't changed much either.
I hope lovely Kate is getting better... Everybody is ill at the moment I think 😬 Some nice finds there and I love the green on Kate's nails. I'm clear of yucky Covid at last and dad is perked up now 😁 I agree that mourning black glass beads are lovely! A string of them will look great. That lead shot could be a slingshot one hence the dinks in it.
I’m so sorry that you were ill,Kate, but so glad that you were able to do a bit of mudlarking. Hopefully you will continue to heal! Thank you both for sharing your unique finds- truly incredible!
I love seeing what you find I’ve been really ill with mouth ulcers and I hospital for 3day out now on lost of meds but real love see you both may me fell better xxxx
The glass with the white circles is made by adding the cut white circles to the top of the colored glass, then clear is layered over the white dots to seal them in.
I am so glad you went to the beach today ! It felt almost like I got out today. I look forward to this kind of day but I do feel bad that you have to go out in the cold, and then poor Kate being sick on top of all that. Please get better Kate. And take good care of yourself !!!
Great to see Kate well enough to be on the beach, even if at some points she looked a little bit like Paddington Bear. Wondering if the black burnished wear could be a crucible for melting lead. Love the whistle of the wind too.
I love your channel. You've got me looking down as I walk in the city here in the USA. I see a lot of the broken tiles you walk over thinking they would make a great tiled floor for a dollhouse.
Hello from France, thank you so much for your videos, so interesting and relaxing! For your black pot: to know if it is old as Roman or Gallo-roman, you can try to put it under water in a bowl. If it makes very little bubbles of oxygen(in a few seconds) , it might be Roman or older. If not, it is younger. I hope you' ll understand my message with my poor english. I wish you the best, and a better health for Kate. 😊
Wonderful, as usual- I have so much calming pleasure watching you on the beach and also learning about the shards. The work houses segment was so sad- luckily those institutions are in the past. And Kate, I wish you quick recovery.
The odd shaped black glass bead looks like a cat's head. The low angle shot of the beach is very colorful. It would make a nice framed print. picture Great video.
I found that all very interesting and love the badge thing. Lots of lovely beads too and my favorite was the pinky mauve one that Kate found. Interesting stories about the workhouse.
Your finds are old and wonderful 😮so happy you will be using them for different arts and crafts. It’s so strange to see that 1800s medallion with the #6 on it. When my husband was alive he was approximately 22 years sober and had many medallion’s. I wish he were here to see the one you found. Thanks for sharing the history of the work houses. Great video 💗💗💗💗💗
I look forward to seeing your mourning bead necklace. It will be beautiful. The round metal ball early in your video reminded me of the fishing weights my dad uses. They clamp on to the fishing line. And, I think it would be wonderful if you made an alphabet using the single letters you’ve found on glass, or perhaps one with ceramic pieces. Feel better, poor Kate! Being sick is misery. And thanks to you both for another deeply enjoyable video!
Fab lark ladies. Some very interesting finds. Some so old its a wonder that they survive at all. Love the history bits you research. As i do on my other favourite larkering channels. That sobriety badge was a very different find, which is great. You never can tell what will turn up next. The seas been collecting all sorts for as long as creatures walked the earth. Anythings possible to wash up on the shore eventually A lovely start to a new year of hunting for treasures. Shame you were feeling so crook Kate. Get better soon. Xx
You brave souls in that windy beach! I trust Kate has recovered by now, please take good care of yourselves, your videos brighten my week every time! I love the idea of the mourning necklace!!! Looking forward to your next adventure! 💐🧩💐🧩💐🧩
Chciałbym mieć takie miejsca które odwiedzacie miłe panie , niestety w Polsce brak , dlatego czekam z niecierpliwością na wasze wyprawy. 👍 Pozdrawiam serdecznie 🇵🇱
Because of all the wonderful goodies you get to find, storing, and the way you display it is also very important. I can imagine how much fun you would both get rearranging your shelves, displays areas and cupboard displays, that’s also half the fun. That’s where I get most of my fun, rearranging and displaying my treasures. One day, if your game enough, would love to see how you display all your treasures, display areas, shelves treasure cabinets, display rooms etc.. That would be an absolutely treat and I bet truly wonderful ❤️❤️
My kind of treasure department! I would truely get lost out there . 😊 That place is so beautiful, peaceful and so relaxing watching your videos. I truely enjoy them. Thanks for taking me a long your adventure🥰🥰🥰
Thank you, now I know what a work house is. I always wondered when Scrooge said(are there no prisons are there no work houses?) I didn't know what a workhouse was. I really like the info you guys give on the items you find. A fan. Deb C
for true stories from the shadow of the workhouses read the Call the Midwife books by Jennifer L Worth, a district nurse and midwife in the poorest part of London right after WW2, when there were still people whose lives were horribly affected by the workhouses.
Love the sound of the wind. It brings back memories of my childhood when my family lived in two story farm house. I would often fall asleep listening to the wind whistling around the corners of the house on cold winter nights.
Heard a Conservative say that we should bring back workhouses for the homeless. Loved the history and the sound of the wind. Poor Kate does seem prone to illnesses, hope she recovers soon.
Hiya 👋 🌸 love the little treasures esp the beads, so many sizes, designs, wow you're so lucky to have a favourite spot that you both go to! Thank you for another video, always enjoy watching you ladies X X
Get better soon Kate. That little glass blob with the little bit sticking up, could you make a experimental item for Brontes room? Loved the video guys. Take care and thank you for sharing 👍🙏❤️
I love ur channel I found it by accident. My husband is from Lincolnshire & tells me about the history, which I find fascinating. Thank you for putting me onto mudlarking I absolutely love it. And once I go to the UK it’s going to be the first thing I do!!
Very pleased to hear you feeling a lot better Kate, the lark and the freshhhh air would have helped. Love the choices of background music for the videos you two produce. Fleur, that bit of Roman you found is a jewel, the inside finish is fascinating. The varied colours of the beads you found were a treat. Good idea with the sherd (or as we use to say in Africa shard) segment, look forward to some stories.
Kate. Hope your nasty cold illness goes away for good this time. Your purply/bluish bead may be Neodymium glass. it catches light from one angle and looks purple or violet, in another direction the light looks blue. I'm Enjoying the content ladies., on both channels
The poor people in the workhouses, it's heartbreaking! The medallion is fabulous, what a wonderful find and an interesting history. A fascinating collection of things! 😀💗 x
Yay! A bunch of sea glass and sponge wear. Loved the maybe sponge wear like stick peice Kate touched but didn't take it. Way it wore was neat. Saw something green with two white lines on it when you found the lavender bead
In many states in the US there was a workhouse system in place until the 1960s. Many who were sentenced had committed petty crimes. I had a relative sentenced in the late 1950s and while there learned the trade of laying cement blocks so was able to find gainful employment when released. It was an alternative to prison.
So many enjoy your doll house videos, they are enticing. I am a story teller. Could there be a children's book in the characters you have created? Just a thought. Thank you for sharing your joy. Truly.
One of my favourite RUclips channels. I love the crafts and the new channels with the dolls house even more now. Watching your videos is like therapy for the soul. I don’t think anything else relaxes me as much as your videos.
you said that quite beautifully, and i agree.
I totally agree with you, the joy when Kate finds something !! Love them💕💕
A ⁴¹áźźźźźzzzzz
Thank you so much :)
I love little dollhouse things,so yay,we’re in the same boat!😊
My father remembers the workhouse at the bottom of St Luke’s Road, Leeds, when he was a youngster (He was born in 1925)
The York Workhouse where my grandmother was born, was turned into York Hospital
The black bead looks like a cat to me. Like Sunny Cat ! 🐱
The tiny hinge looks like a guitar without its neck!! You could make a toy guitar for the dolls
That funny shaped black bead makes me think of a stretchy bracelet where the point of one bead fits into the dent in the next bead
I want a kit for Christmas lol 😂under the Christmas tree 🎄
That round thing with the groove almost looked like a yo-yo 😆
I applaud the Sherd Stories idea, although the subject this time was very depressing. I've always enjoyed having pottery/porcelain pieces featured in their own separate clip, such as what the West Country Mudlarks do. 😍😁 There are so many stunning patterns to be found. Great video, ladies. Congrats on more beautiful beads. See you next time. 😊🥰💛👍
Of course, I love your videos, and I am so interested in personally. Also I love the music accompaniment. It is soothing and so lovely. USA
I enjoy learning the history of your artifacts, as well as seeing the treasures you find. You are sunshine on those cold dreary days that you go Mudlarking.
The bracelet bead would make a cute little dipping inkwell or mortar bowl for a dollshouse
I hope Katie is feeling better by now - best wishes from New England to Old England!
That is an absolutely awesome medallion you found. I owe my life and sobriety to AA and loved being able to pick up my sobriety chips each month. What I wouldn’t give to find one of those!! I love that history!! Another fabulous larking ladies!!❤
your clear glass blob of glass looks like a little mouse and the nesting bead looks like a cat head of sorts.
Very interesting finds today. Thank you.
As always, very interesting to see what you two can find. Thank you for sharing.
Like the glass tadpole!
Great video, awesome history lesson and lovely finds. Feel better soon Kate!
Kate looks like Paddington bear lol too cute! :) I watched alot of time team the burnish ware has crude bits in it. Great finds and eagle eyes ladies for the beads. :) :)
Great episode thanks ladies, really interesting 😊💖
Thank you girls! Great to watch and listen while I work on making a braided rug.
I am so envious of your mudlarking days, i would so love to be able to join in this exciting hobby 🤗
Would love to see a piece of jewelry with all the black glass beads!
14:52 Mortarium en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortarium. I”m definite it’s Roman; seems narrow for a mortar but the surface is very curious. The Romans were excellent with ceramics and glass. Amazing finds. ❤Feel better, Kate!
Ooooh love the army temperance medallion! Soooo interesting! My house used to be a temperance hotel, I find the temperance thing fascinating!
Beautiful Roman find!!! Also the funny shaped black bead could be used as a cat head for another bead doll if you dot some little eyes onto it
Funny, I thought the same
Wishing you a quick recovery Kate, you did well to stay at the beach and have a great day larking. Kate, you’re wearing one of my favorite colors on your nails! Love the little pot. I so enjoy you and your mama, my mama and I had a sweet relationship
Still the favorite beach for many reasons. So many great finds. Beautiful sceneries.
That tiny hinge could be a treadle for a sewing machine❤
I was amazed when you found the tiny bit of pottery with Berlin on it. My daughter was born in West Berlin in 1974 when the wall was still there. My husband was stationed there with the USAF.

A roman mortarium. Nice find.
I love seeing what you find I’ve been really ill with mouth ulcers and I hospital for 3day out now on lost of meds but real love see you both may me fell better xxxx
Get well soon.
Hope you get well soon :)
What interesting finds! I think the white pully, is a footwarmer plug but the screw part broke off it.. Such history in small objects!
19:40 Very nice, old sherd. Partially-fired pottery. Thick. Post-medieval?
God bless anyone dealing with or having dealt with covid. Keep your vitamin D levels up!
Great to see Kate well enough to be on the beach, even if at some points she looked a little bit like Paddington Bear.
Wondering if the black burnished wear could be a crucible for melting lead.

Cold and windy day for you. Thank you for the videos.
Sherd beach. In the US we say shard. So much scattered joy.
The odd shaped black glass bead looks like a cat's head.
The low angle shot of the beach is very colorful. It would make a nice framed print.

Great video.

I found that all very interesting and love the badge thing. Lots of lovely beads too and my favorite was the pinky mauve one that Kate found. Interesting stories about the workhouse.

I would have to craft that tiny hinge into a guitar for the dols house. Lol
Kate, hope you are feeling well ! I think the piece of pottery with the full mark of the workhouse would make a great necklace !
My kind of treasure department! I would truely get lost out there . 😊 That place is so beautiful, peaceful and so relaxing watching your videos. I truely enjoy them. Thanks for taking me a long your adventure🥰🥰🥰
